That was pretty much the definition of a high-paid, high-stress Executive deciding to slum it for thrills. The whole thing was somewhat disturbingly sleazy, and a little bit off-putting.

Since it's more game company news than game specific, but did you folks see that CD Project Red have already made back the money they invested in Cyberpunk? Apparently the eight million pre-orders and day one sales earned them over the cost of producing the game. So the company made the decision to actually pay all bonuses rather than hold them to the criteria of critic / metacritic review thresholds. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-12-11/cd-projekt-changes-developer-bonus-structure-after-buggy-release

It's the small things. Talking a guy down from rabid cyberpsychosis PTSD, persuading him he shouldn't turn into lone assassin / terrorist as he should remember being an honorable soldier... Then you turn away, walk through a door and suddenly Boom from behind, turn around, and find the guy had decided to instead commit suicide. It's cyberpunk. It's rare to get a clean right/wrong approach to things.

Progress and style choices...

I have to admit, my tendency to try sneaking and hacking through most missions the Fixers ask me to do tend to result in not improving my Asssault/Handguns/Blades skills. So I'm roaming around for the police intervention stuff for the casual violence and get those skill points earned...

I've got it through GOG and haven't had a single issue with Galaxy yet. The pre-load was fine, it had to update about 50 MB when release day happened, and then the big 580 MB patch smoothly updated within a couple of minutes of me exiting the game yesterday. Hm, I have to admit, the Athletics skill feels buggy experience-wise. I'm constantly running / sprinting to places and jumping up and around, and after 30 hours of gameplay involving lots of that I still haven't got my skill up to 4 yet. Compared to the others, which are (for the majority) nearly double that.

What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life

Well I had the Friday off work, and now I've managed to sink 34 hours into Cyberpunk since it was released. I still haven't progressed too far beyond Silverhand in my head. I keep getting lost in Gigs, Side Missions, and generally exploring around Night City. -
I'm planning on cycling through it. Female Street Kid, Male Nomad, Female Corpo, Male Street Kid, etc.

Yes, but potentially it means we won't get a full Dune made. If they don't feel the first half makes enough money, he won't get the 2nd half produced. So it's not just him venting on the artistic need to see things in full cinematic screen experience.

Off-hand, I can't remember. It was one of those brief things mentioned by the developers when they were talking about it. One of those off the cuff "We might have gotten a bit too lost on some of the details when we were getting to the point of doing x" kind of things.

https://www.indiewire.com/2020/12/jason-momoa-josh-brolin-defend-villeneuve-warner-bros-fight-dune-1234604046/ Villenueve's saying that WB's decision to split film releases over stream and cinema could kill any decision to let him film the 2nd part of Dune.

One thing that might entertain you even with that.. is that every single piece of garbage you see, is a complete item elsewhere in the game. There are no "generic rubbish" items. Everything is an item that has been rubbished.

Heh, well so far I've spent just over 11 hours playing around on Cyberpunk...and I still haven't got Silverhand in my head yet. I just keep wandering around in the city, poking at gigs, various side quests that pop up, and exploring the place.

See, my initial idea is to play Street Kid Female V, Male Nomad V, Corpo Female V, then flip it. My introductory meeting with the first RipperDoc and you do get the greyed out dialogue option of "Yes, I'll pay you 21,000 eddies for this" and the open "I'll have to owe you". Which suggests its perfectly feasible I could have wandered off and done a bunch of side stuff and raised that amount of money before meeting him. After two hours last night before sleep, and an hour over my lunch break here, I haven't delved too deep into things, but there is so much out there in Night City. Its amazing, but I think it has that potential lack of coherency? All these possibilities that aren't directly tied to the story plot. So yes, I wake up in my apartment, a possible virus on my system, Jackie is waiting to take me to the RipperDoc... That's the obvious, as a player feeling its necessary to do that first. But I could have wandered off and raised that much money doing other things and then met Jackie there.... So I kind of love that it has that feel of possibilities to it? But I wonder how much more the "main" storylines will have that feeling of timed impetus which would feel like meta-gaming to ignore and go spend hours doing other stuff. From the atmosphere so far in-game, I could definitely get lost in doing other stuff and enjoy it, but I can see potentially having that slight head-clash as a player if it keeps having those elements in the main story.

The fun is figuring out just how many "accidental" methods of execution there are to find. Once you get your mind around those, going in without weapons and ramping up the difficulty isn't quite as severe as it might sound.
