  1. Inside the Collector's base in the middle of a black hole that swallows every form of energy, I don't know much about quantum entanglement but I think that energy needs to travel.
  2. See that just breaks the immersion for me since I know for a fact that medieval people didn't bathe. Hell I don't think the bathtub was even invented until the 1600's King Arthur had a hot-tub, so did the Romans. Romans had bath houses in which they got together to ogle young men and King Arthur wasn't real. Also when have you ever seen a clean peasant or a bathtub in a king's bedroom, Hollywood doesn't count.
  3. No, I actually enjoyed that too and didn't see much handholding in DA:O What I refer mostly is "Commander Shepard we have conquered the reaper, we should plant the bomb and leave this collector base" "Shepard(thinking) Mmmh but all this technology may come in handy against the reapers" "Illusive man: Shepard I need you to go ahead and not destroy the base" "Shepard: how the hell do you get a phone signal in the middle of a black hole? Nvm that, I was just thinking that but now that you say so it seem like the evil choice so I won't take it" Fin They become so outspoken that the choices the player will make are clearly outlined by them. Probably a way to counteract all the complaints about Shepard not saying what the player intended, now you know beforehand what your are getting when you take option A or B.
  4. You forgot the quintessential anime video
  5. @Boo: Agree, BW does a lot characters as filler. @Nephente: Despite being the worst of the 3 NWN did garner attention, even though BW writing has always been similar it used to be that the bad parts weren't as bad and the good ones were better. I know that I wasn't used to be so annoyed and conscious about the storyline when I was playing KOTOR. Maybe I don't care for all the handholding in these new games. I can't make a choice without a companion butting in and telling me what to do and boiling everything down to 2 clear moral choices. @Calax: Games don't have to have the moments feel forced. We are just talking about BW here and their over saturation of one on one conversations. No problem with that, except that eventually there is a big disconnect amongst characters if they aren't meant to interact with each other. Eventually I get a little conscious of the fact that these characters have no life outside of interacting with my character.
  6. Nostalgia. Nostalgia aside, the great 3 BW at that time. NWN, KOTOR, BG2. Which is basically what got them the public's attention; the writing from that time was very different or maybe it was the format.
  7. You forgot to mention the mandatory companion quest. That's exactly the problem, one on one moments are special because they don't happen often due to the plot taking precedence over the characters. Most often than not you are dealing with groups of people, or interactions based on the main storyline (two characters discussing what to do) BW takes deepness to such a superficial level that it ruins every suspension of disbelief. Good examples of such is Aveline/Isabela during Aveline companion's quest. Right at the beginning Hawke gets sidelined by the interactions between these two characters, not only does it make it more plausible (since the world hardly revolves around a single person) but it establishes those characters without any interaction with the player but at the same time it includes him/her. Yet instead of advancing the main storyline through the characters or the characters through the sidequests, they separate a portion of the story to be dedicated just to them. They come pre-packaged with their own adventure and possible sex scene which diverts from the main storyline, which when you have 8 companions takes away from whatever the hell you where supposed to be doing in the first place. "Shepard: (thinking) Didn't we had a galaxy to save or something? Nah i'm probably imagining it, now let's go teach Grunt about the birds and the bees"

  9. I see, what about organization or goals are they the same as with a proper gang? Because strangely enough a lot of the gangs stateside actually support family life and it's one of the permitted means to leave the gang. Although and I think that I said this before, its the younger elements that seem to be more aggressive. Hormones, insecurities, the need to establish a name for themselves within the gang, I don't really know why. Which is probably why I think violent youth should have another way to succeed aside from gangs; of course this only address half the cause, but at the same time a lot of the major gangs seek to recruit youth from afflicted schools. Our programs in this regard are inefficient, most of them consist of a speech by a ex-gang member or punitive measures. Problem is that without a rapport to keep them away from crime a lot of them just get in deeper. Gangs are a social element and the most effective way out of them is by moving on to another social element (community, family) for a troubled youth this is not a likely case since they relate more to their social circle than community or family. The biggest problem with the major gangs is that they have evolved from a interpersonal management mode into a hierarchy with it's own rules.
  10. This post just gave me the awesomest idea for a video game. A reality video game, as gamers play through each week the plot is being developed and they get the chance to vote off their least favorite characters. It will either be the greatest game ever of the biggest piece of crap on the face of the earth (AKA the Jersey Shore game) @Tale: I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. @Calax: There is no reason as to why every character should be generic other than poor writing. Specially since the best characters in ME were the non-generic ones, or at least the ones further away from the archetype. In screenplay writing they take as short as one scene to establish character, using an event or their appearance to tell the viewer "this guy is..." and get that out of the way to get on with the plot. The difference with the tv is that you have a longer time to establish and redefine your character, the guy who started as the lovable nerd may end up as the psychotic villain by the 4 season. Here is a BW redefinition, the tortured elf with lyrium branded into his skin that is trying to escape his master turns into the tortured gay elf that is trying to escape his master. Seriously is like there don't even try with some of this characters, but what's it's worse is that they make their freaking storylines character-centric when and create these cookie cut outs of archetypes. Whatever happened to BW actually writing stuff, cool characters like hk-47.
  11. I agree, although I haven't seen BW to do anything on par with Joss Whedon. They obviously try but their characters aren't compelling enough, the twist aren't shocking enough, the plot's structure isn't really there. They are basically a bad "cover band" of Joss Whedon made up of fat teenagers now in their mid 40's.
  12. Well the difference it's starking, you mean to tell me that the public's schools in england don't have criminal gangs? In any case peer pressure still applies, specially in gangs or small social clubs like you brits have BTW what's with the Harold Lloyd hats?
  13. From what I can tell of my 2 year stint; there weren't so much as gangs as the expected social strata of high school. Interestingly enough there was a undisclosed, unconscious arrangement amongst as to what the territorial lines where. Goths would hang out in the same place at lunch, same for jocks and nerds were kind of left out to spread around. The most disruptive elements amongst where the recent immigrants and wannabe ganstas, the action that the school took against them was sufficient. Suspension all around to anyone who started a fight. But outwardly aggressive gangs are not the problem, the small introverted groups are. Which the school kindly "tracks" any student liable to start another Columbine, Americans are kind of touchy about that. Aside from that there was no effort on the school system to address those issues, counselors are just that in name and if a teacher doesn't feel like going out their way to reach out, the youth is left at their mercy. Verily an pathologically impersonal environment, which is a factor as why well adapted people may end up in these types of gangs. Crisis of identity, biological imperative, and the basic social needs of life that are ever present in youth, mix it all up and you get someone that puts up with a lot just because they don't want to be alone.
  14. Become very familiar with the wiki, it will spare you a lot of pain. I'm the game IDK if I can blue ghost a lower lv but PM if you get stuck, I will send you a I survived Demon's Souls T-shirt. I'm doing fairly well. Killed Phalanx on my second try, but the way to him was not a walk in the park. I'm playing as a royalist and that seems to have been a good choice. Soul Arrow is really helping me. I want to stay away from the wiki as much as I can, but I did take a look on general stuff. I might have a closer look if I get stuck. I must also admit that I did look at some mage builds, not because I want to copy any of them, just to have an idea of how points could be spent. I tried 1-2 a couple of times but got burned by the freaking dragon. When I finally made it to the last part of the bridge, archers and blue knights slaughtered me. So I'll skip it next time and go for 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 or 5-1 next time. What you feel right now it's very common you beat the first boos and think "maybe this won't be so hard" but you are wrong. Plus you picked royal, so that's a few extra lvs of difficulty you just added, but really go to the wiki specially for the cheapest ways to beat the bosses. Stay close to the builds because they will help you focus on a specialized character to tackle all what it's to come. More importantly the wiki will help you get every sword and souls in your first playthrough, which it's a must since NG+ is much harder without them. Also the wiki will tell you the specific weakness of the enemies which will help you specially in 2-1 where if you don't know that a piercing weapon is the best you are going to have a hard time. But since you are a royal you already have one Oh yeah and the wiki will tell you of a lot ways to farm souls; do them, you can't get ahead by just playing the levels. Once you have enough souls spend them as quickly as possible. Good luck on your journeys brave traveler. Stay away from the blue dragon.

  16. Well buddy thanks to you i have been listening to the whole Shogun soundtrack consecutively for the past day. I will now proceed to sharpen my katana and force my neighbor to commit seppuku for hammering nails at 8:00 o clock in the morning.
  17. i can have real sex anytime i want. only in bioware games can i witness girl-elf on girl-elf action. Where? Also nun on nun > elf on elf. The witcher wins.
  18. I figure that anyone that went to see Suckerpunch because of the plot is an idiot and/or will be turned off.
  19. Personally I think that the same should be extended to the saner elements of the gang, those that are salvageable human beings. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that economy factors into this behavior but; are most of these gangs from low income environments? If so there should be outreach programs targeting those areas. Anyone who think criminal gangs only come from disadvantaged backgrounds has never been to public school. Only for 2 years, thankfully. Biggest waste of time in my life. But don't public schools have security and counselors to nip these problems at the bud. I know the security guards had me targeted, because of asocial behavior.
  20. Is this for real? If so i'm definitively getting it.

  22. This is the weirdest thing, I'm playing and i just found a box. A modern cardboard box, tried to see if there was someone inside with eagle eye but no snake.
  23. As much as i'm loving AC:B I gotta say this "**** those codes and their lame hints, the ****ing symbol isn't adjacent. What the hell that means" and back to the game.
