  1. That was more depressing than funny
  2. I guess that's possible, but only if they switched up all the naming conventions. Shep is a Commander, which is a grade-5 officer ("O5") in a naval service (Navy, Coast Guard). The weird part is that Alenko is a Major, which is an O4 in a land-based service. I suspect that they just picked the titles that sounded coolest. Also, naval O4 is "Lieutenant Commander," so Bio probably thought it'd be confusing to have 2 folks called "Commander" around the ship. You do realize that you are trying to attribute sense where there is none to have.

    Ahhh, Dear Old Susumu Hirasawa.
  4. Or because the character was conceived as a female, instead you should point out that the only point for Motoko showing her female body is fanservice
  5. That was part of a larger issue in me2, practically all romanceable npcs had most of their character development disappear if you chose not to pursue a virtual relationship with them... That's because all BW characters are always either romancing or calibrating.
  6. I miss one dimensional characters that had a role in the story and nothing more.
  7. Considering his age I would say it was pretty darn soon.
  8. Rather than pitch in and point out why Volourn is wrong I will try to steer this thread back onto its course. Because no matter the circumstances a great mind and entrepreneurial spirit has been lost and that should take precedence over whether or not he was justified on taking his life. This is just the result of an obscene criminal justice system that protects the rich and prosecutes the poor, and of a lawyer hellbent on making his bones on a criminal case. Lawyers are indeed the Devil's tool when they take action carelessly without regard to the consequences.
  9. Technological immortality could only be achieved by uploading your brain onto a analog device, which would always beg the question of whether the person is the same as before. If they upgraded the body to be immortal and still left the brain intact or build around it, then the subject would still be subject to neurological decay. Which would defeat the purpose of maintaining the greatest minds since they become obsolete due to the rapid advances in technology.
  10. It's too early to speculate on the next presidential campaign, specially without knowing the candidates. Also, I doubt Palestine will take precedence over domestic issues in the coming election.
  11. I just lost my Intuos pen because I forgot it behind and so to punish myself I walked 4 miles home under the Floridian sun...at noon; that will teach me
  12. I take this post to point out that self deprecation and ennui are just narcissism under the disguise of deepness. Remember: "Non pascentur in troglodyte" What does the last sentence mean? use google translate, hint: "its in latin"
  13. You're confusing self deprecation with humor, it's a dark sense of humor that tries to poke at personal insecurities so as to take control away from anyone who may notice. I do that a lot too. Perhaps self deprecation isn't the proper word for it, angst seems more appropriate.

  15. Dr. Doom is above such attachments as his intellect and discerning tastes are to great to restrict themselves to just one woman. Seducing Susan Storm would only be for the benefit of proving Doom's superiority over Reed, as it was delivering his child when he couldn't.
  16. Thanks for the tip, I was skeptical about trying Aljazeera but I will take your word for it. I guess all that remains is to wait for the situation to develop and try to sort fact from fiction, hopefully this will all dissolve peacefully. On the other hand it is supposed to be the year that the world ends and the apocalypse is supposed to begin on Megiddo.
  17. In Roosevelt's defense, Stalin was a man of his word and kept his promise of helping the allied with the Pacific theater. Regarding the situation in Israel; I'm considering which news outlets might report with accuracy with respect to what's happening over there. Not to sound the conspiracy loon but a large part of the media is owned by Jews and they might prioritize their interest. I imagine that pending the result of the election there will be some public "justice" against Palestinians living on Israel; which might not get reported for the reason aforementioned.
  18. Considering how much Michael Bay makes on the box office, i'm inclined to believe so.
  19. It's the beginning of a problem, radical politics leads to radical ideas, propaganda and eventually violent action. I'm just hoping this doesn't end up like Rwanda in Gaza. The US has long list of allies who have been more of a detriment, e.g: every war done in the name of supporting a small nation in the hopes to stop the spread of communism. On the other hand all the Jewish conspiracy theories could be right. I also find it strange that they have lasted this long as an ally considering that there isn't any particular reason to maintain good relations with Israel, aside from securing votes from Jewish communities.
  20. I get the feeling that will only remain as long as Israel keeps winning, were the tables to be turned and they asked for help we'd probably enter the conflict. After all the West has much to gain from securing an ally in the area, even if that ally bombs our ships and tries to pretend it was by "accident".
