  1. Misery sucks...Oh you meant Lost Alpha. Nah I too was burnt after playing 1 hour of Misery; true to its name though.
  2. Because if I don't understand them, they don't have a themself to do anything by. They're just a blank item reacting predictably to things around them. They're actually far easier to control in that situation. But they are far more boring. Kind of like me at a party. Just standing in the corner waiting for it to be over because none of it interests me. Only finally interacting when someone else approaches me or I decide to leave. Understanding the character is how I know whether they're to be brave or frightened in a situation. Where I know if they'll be curious, what they might be focused on, when they'll be defiant. Without that they're just simple reactions. They can only answer questions and occasionally tilt their heads. So how about when a character doesn't understand their own motivations? Or when you have to write a character with a condition that you know nothing about? You should stop judging your writing and just write, stop trying to define your characters and let them define themselves. Step back and observe; if you have written enough they should have by then taken a life of their own. Also no excuses, try it. If it doesn't work don't do it again.
  3. Why do you need to understand your characters? Give up a bit of control see how they do by themselves and just write what they do.
  4. Loved that show right up untill Season 9 - Then again, it already had an ending so that one can easily be ignored. I've seen both Community and Scrubs and I never got the same vibe. Community feels a lot like a cartoon whereas Scrub was more grounded and dealt with some tough subject matter.Community is more lighthearted.
  5. If there was definitive proof of reincarnation the reaction would be largely dependent on how it functions. If the guiding principle is that reincarnation just happens without any particular purpose then I'd imagine it would be a lot like our world just with reincarnation.
  6. Or she just had surprise buttsex from an invisible man.
  7. And the code you write for a company, is the companies property, otherwise why would you be getting payed. But the source isn't, I don't think you can sue someone for plagiarizing themselves. I seem to recall a case about that but I can't remember the verdict.
  8. The first two examples are from Ubisoft, could you maybe come up with an example of an EA game?
  9. I dunno, I smell EA design on that. It will seem awesome for the first hour untill you realise that everything is cut and paste. Modular building is the cornerstone of open world, you can't really expect developers to come up with a different type or rock for every area. It's up to the environment team to come up with creative ways to make it varied. Also, not saying this about you personally but; it would be weird if everyone decided to focus on BW having repeated models when Skyrim was the same and met with critical acclaim.
  10. If it's drawn portraits as in the old IE games then there shouldn't be a problem, heck you probably can add your own. If it's 3D then that's added development, although having the artist working more time is also an added cost just lower and easier to accommodate.
  11. This post is still relevant in a DA thread.
  12. Yep. Also cro-magnon esque broad skulls as well, which exist in the nordic countries. And then more circular/oval skulls as well. 1. Foreheads. Some people in real life have very receding foreheads. Like something completely different from the portraits obsidian have done so far. 2. Various grades of prognathism. 3. Location of various aspects of the face in relation to each other. E.g nose, eyes, mouth etc. These 4 features are major in forming the face. There are probably other major features, but I am not going to try think up more atm. Major features change the overall shape of the face far more than minor features such as the shape of the lips, nose or eyes and brows, etc. All of which would be wasted development time in an isometric game with low poly models.
  13. Now all I need is a Kat Williams voicepack to roleplay A pimp named Slickback.
  14. A mage spent a lot of time learning how to throw a fireball instead of training with armor and doing long marches. Its really like saying that a scientist should be able to wear heavy armor as well as a soldier does. I get the feeling that you just don't have a fashion sense.
  15. How about mages wear armor? No silly dresses, no cowl and no silly hats. Just plate mail and chain mail. Plate mail and chain mail are both heavy(as heavy as modern infantry armor) and don't have good ventilation. A mage will likely succumb to fatigue since they haven't trained to use armor, plus armor is redundant when you can just cast a spell to increase your armor rating. So why not look fabulous instead?
  16. Well better late than never. I guess I should use emoticons more often.
  17. Yes, there have been shelters here for ages, and billboards asking clients who suspect prostitutes to be abused to report their suspicions. The problem is the stranglehold the pimps have on their prostitutes, and the unwillingness and fear of the women to come forward. Do you think that making prostitution illegal will improve the problem?
  18. Do they have women's sanctuaries or some place which offers housing to girls trying to get out from the streets?
  19. Isn't the industry regulated or do the police take a blind eye to that sort of stuff?
  20. Or just find reliable hookers. Honestly if it wasn't illegal and if feminist would raise such a fuss I think prostitution would take off like a firestorm.
  21. No man is an Island. Except when he's in the bath. I think Japan is an excellent example of what will become commonplace if relationships continue to dwindle. Lot of markets to supply the demand for a relationship experience without having an actual one. It seems modern life (and in some ways emancipation) has made people reluctant to enter in a relationship or just incapably inadequate for one.
  22. What I learned from this thread: People are so self centered that can't even seem to communicate and have to project faults to protect their ego. I expect that in the future, relationships will be a thing of the past and everyone is their own self sufficient island. Way to go Humanity!
  23. A joke is meant as coping mechanism to breach a subject without or with limited consequences, it isn't meant to be taken seriously or to be a reliable source of information. Of a joke the only thing you can accurately say is whether is funny or not. The jester was the only one allowed to tell the king the truth and get away with because he was joking, if the king was so offended by the joke that he killed the jester it was an unspoken confirmation of it being true. Might I say that people who seem to have an issue with a joke getting too real should really stop killing the jester and try to fix some ****.
