  1. Guys, I think we broke Bruce. Don't change please, we need our own resident SJW otherwise we're a homogeneous community of guys that pretend to be Russian and communist.
  2. It has become game related as soon as it got out that some of her dalliances were with her boss and members of the gaming media that put her on the public radar. More over there is another scandal about boards and website censoring any topic related to it and the fact that she has used her relationships to further her career. It also puts the entire SJW journalism thing under the microscope since now we don't know who else has done this. Also; being Bruce is suffering. Initially I was going to say "you guys are just raising this to try to undermine the feminism movement" but then I researched this event a bit further and read this excellent article http://www.geekenstein.com/what-qualifies-zoe-quinns-personal-life-as-gaming-news/ So what is wrong is not that she slept around, its the fact she claimed to be totally against cheating on your partner, and she espoused this as one of foundations of the feminist cause. She is a hypocrite and is the same as those ministers who are opposed to homosexuality and say things like " all gays must burn in the fires of hell " and then later they are caught with a male prostitute. So she has no more credibility IMO. But don't let this taint the greater cause of feminism, there is still good and relevant work many people in the movement do The problem is that these are some of the people and websites that have championed the movement within the industry and now that their character comes into question their whole work comes into question. I also love the bit about the contest to get more women into making games that she sabotaged. Honestly Bruce, I do respect your opinions even if I don't agree with them but I've always though you had been backing the wrong horse. These people are the worst champions that your cause could possibly have. You should throw your name on the next election for SJW king; support BruceVC!

  4. Happy Birthday Pic not related
  5. How many times has that government been ousted since this whole thing began?
  6. I don't think that's even its worst problem because Aang wasn't a strong character initially but he served a purpose in the story as he was our anchor. Also there was an overarching plot whereas Korra's seem to be thinly representing social issues and just crashing through the series. The reason why I disliked it is because every character that was infinitely more interesting than Korra was put on the bench in order for the writers to do nothing with Korra. Or worse they actually agree with her. Is like that Wolverine thing, people like him even though he's a mass murdering psychopath and everyone knows it but no one stops him or antagonizes him. Basically I can't for the life of me figure out a reason why everyone stays around Korra.
  7. Yes? The police tactics we're seeing in Ferguson pre-date that 2011 press release by several decades. Police were doing this sh*t against protesters way back in the Veitnam era. Assault Rifles and everything?
  8. Nonsense, there is probably no fast travel.
  9. I don't know how but I went from reading about Jon Voight condemning Penelope Cruz and Javier Valdez letter about Israel to how the actual story of Israel is different from how the media has portrayed Zionism since 1946 and all the bad things they've done in achieving the state. Somehow that ended up with the fact that US police departments have taken seminars with Israeli police; even so far that the NYPD apparently has an office on Israel, and that the excuse was to learn counter-terrorism but in actuality they were learning tactics used in the suppression of the public used by the Israeli forces. Same tactics that apparently are being used in this case.
  10. "Which, you have to admit, is a pretty big tent for an ideology." Have you heard about this guy Jesus?
  11. Mostly because of men roleplaying as girls.
  12. You keep saying this. Can you give me an example when feminists have advocated for a better life for men? In Sweden, three times as many men commit suicide than women. In Sweden, twice as many women graduate from a higher education compared to men (approximately, I forgot the exact number, but you get the picture). In Sweden, women gets much better grades in school than men. In Sweden, a man is four times more likely to be physically abused than a woman. In Sweden, three times more men are murdered each year than women. These facts are pretty much the same throughout every country in the western world, although the numbers vary slightly. How many times have you heard a feminist mention any of these things? At least in Sweden, feminists work to end violence against women (as an example). Specifically women, even though this problem is much, much bigger among men. Why is that if equality is what they seek? The thing is that they got gender roles working for them, after all is easy to believe that they're damsels in distress.
  13. Third page and we are already discussing semantics, we must be running thin after all those unofficial feminism derails. Anyways, I for one have no problem with feminism being sexist or focusing just on one gender, is when they start focusing on my gender that I get chills. For a movement that is supposed to be about the betterment and empowerment of women there sure is a lot of talk about men, I guess every good story needs a villain.
  14. Funny that you speak about a toilet bowl, is almost like you're daring me to post this image.
  15. Sasha Grey. Bit of background, she was a voice actor on Saints Rows the Third has a varied interest in different projects that range from the artistic to the educational. Yet she was first known for her pornographic work, let's just say that she could become the next mother Theresa and I probably wouldn't kiss her on the cheek without a Hazmat suit.
  16. You just did. Ken Levine at least is a very good writer of the video game class, but you do really have to compare like with like. He has played to his strengths from movie/ TV experience and writes straight linear stories, he doesn't have to weld multiple decisions into a coherent whole- and even with the linearity his story endings have tended to be somewhat underwhelming or off kilter, except maybe Thief. And derivative of one another too, of course. Bioware's only real problem with ME was the lack of a coherent plan, or not sticking to the plan. Plus, as I always say, ME2 did not do the set up job that was required and left far too much for ME3 to do, leading to the dei ex machina. Since that cat is out of the bag, can someone do an analysis of the TLoU? I haven't played it (probly never will) but i'm interested to hear opinions of whether if it is as good as they say or if it just like Bioshock Infinite (overhyped)
  17. No, its just that we now who she is and breaking new ground isn't always a good thing. There are places no one with self respect should go.
  18. At least no one has mentioned Bioshock Infinite or Last of Us.
  19. Mass Effect and BW RPGs in general suffer from both tonal and plot consistency, largely due to their attempt to mimic Josh Whedon team dynamics which are born out of character. The problems arise when they largely ignore their main plot in favor of creating "those" moments where their character shine. To follow with OP example, Mordin in ME3 was a good piece of writing because it was both in character, fitted the situation and moved the plot forward. It is very hard to keep consistency across a game story that's divided by bits of gameplay; one of the reasons why I herald Avellone as the best game writer is the he can do this, BW seems to just prefer a stylistic approach rather than an actual plotline. If something happens is for a maximized emotional response rather than service to the story, which when they neglect to establish or bend the plot to fit it in, it comes off as forced.
  20. Why couldn't he have announced his departure before ME3 was completed? Thanks for making a career move AFTER the starchild, Casey. Is his name in some way attached to the new ME project? Otherwise I believe that he was gently let go and just kept long enough to assist the new project manager in the transition. I mean, I doubt someone would leave a lead position on a major studio without a good reason.
