Went to a wedding this weekend so luckily I missed the Swedish hockey fiasco. Congratulations, Finland, you had the star (Granlund) and you deserved it. I must say I am a little impressed by the Swedish team also.. They came with 10 players (!) from the youth team and managed to make it to the finals! Not bad. Oh, and the wedding was great. Open bar at the end.. It is Monday and I am still feeling it.

Every year I choose with my heart in the second round.. Right now I'm looking at 0/4 or 1/4, and then I lose interest completely because none of the teams I like are still in the race. Every year!

It's no big secret why they chose 8 GB: money. Again, Nintendo are going to sell three year old technology for today's prices. And again they will make a fortune doing it because soccer moms don't care about tech specs.

I find it strange that the celebration of the horrific murder of thousands of civilians is being compared to the celebration of the killing of a terrorist leader responsible for thousands of deaths. I'm just not making the connection. I must have missed his trial where he was found guilty of all this. When was it?

LOL at you for lumping all Europeans together. I didn't? I never said "all europeans". Americans are fat and stupid. Yeah, who needs to use "all".

Simple people need a simple scapegoat. If you think killing one man is going to make a difference, good for you. No need for half a page of sobbing melodrama though. Geez. I remember when the western media showed Muslims celebrating after the towers fell (which turned out to be faux news), everyone on this board were outraged. Now the Americans have killed someone and it's OK to celebrate. Again, good for you. Excuse me if I don't take part in the celebrations.

The thought of playing old games again is almost always more attractive than actually playing old games again. But nice device!

Yes, congratulations Americans, I am sure another dead person solved all of your problems.

I saw Thor 3D last night. It was fun, if not so memorable. My Ukrainian mail order bride loved it though, so it was worth it.

Vancouver over Nashville in 6 - The Preds are a real play-off team, they proved that in the first round. But the Sedin sisters will dance on in six! Detroit over Sharks in 6 - Detroit seems to have found the play-off form early. They will be tough to beat and will not lose the second round. Caps over Tampa in 7 - Caps defence against Tampa's high flying offence?! Who woulda thunk it? Go Ovie. Flyers over Bruins in 7 - Two heavy teams, both showing bad form and still winning. I'm only guessing here.. but Flyers looks a little deeper.

Are you by any chance a 13 year old girl?

I would suggest the Radeon HD6870. It's really good value for the performance it gives. Right now there's no incentive to get anything more expensive than that.

World Economic Forum has done a study on different countries ability to innovate and use IT in the industry and government. Source:http://www.weforum.org/issues/global-information-technology Read it and weep, heathens! If you can.. using your dial-up connections and 54k modems..

The Gothic games always had very few attributes and it works very well. I am not worried and I would not necessarily consider this as "dumbing down" as much as a step in another direction.

The Penguins are playing without Malkin and Crosby. How are they winning??

While I don't specifically care for Arcanum, this however is something I believe in. I absolutely hate the obsession with balance every game designer seems to have these days. Why must every class be exactly as powerful as the next in every game? MMORPG's are especially guilty of this problem. What happens is that every class feels like the next when balance is more important than fun. Only someone obsessed with min-maxing every character should be bothered with balance, everyone else should just roleplay the character they want.

It's actually a lot more satisfying than I thought it would be. I am still tossing dynamite around like there's no tomorrow, but I am hoping I will be able to move up to grenades and grenade launchers soon. So far there's just not enough ammo to sustain me through even one combat situation without having to resort to guns in the end. Also, explosives feels MUCH weaker than even a cowboy repeater. One shot of sneaky criticals to the head insta-kills most of what's out there, but explosives need like 5 explosions to kill anything. Oh, and I have 9 in my gun skill. It's still more powerful than my explosives, even though I've taken three levels of that "add 20% damage to your explosives" perk.

Damnit! I am doing an explosives girl right now! Maybe I should have waited a few weeks..

Dragon's Dogma from Capcom: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/dragons-dogma/ It looks like a high budget Gothic! OK, so it's not a RPG, but I am interested anyhow. I want to ride a hydra too!

My first round predictions: Caps - Rangers: Capitals in 6. Capitals seem like a much more playoff minded team this year. Rangers will put up a decent fight though. Flyers - Sabres: Flyers in 5. Yeah, they have not played well recently, but they are heavy and talented three lines deep. They must win. Bruins - Canadiens: Bruins in 7. Difficult series to predict.. mostly because I am uninterested in both teams. Penguins - Lightning: Lightning in 6. Unless Crosby makes an unexpected comeback.. Canucks - Blackhawks: Canucks in 7. This will be a war and probably the best series in the opening round. Sharks - Kings: Sharks in 5. I have no explanation for this, after having been disappointed by the Sharks year in and year out. Red Wings - Coyotes: Red Wings in 6. Notoriously slow starting Red Wings will win but make it look difficult. Ducks - Predators: Predators in 6. I like this team machine. Difficult to meet in the regular season and that bodes well for the playoffs.

He was good in Inception.

But seriously, why design a cheap computer with the goal of having it last for ten years? I mean 10 years is like 70 years in dog years.. and 700 years in computer years! Five years would be bad enough..
-
So you think your opinion is worth more because of your job? How conceited can one get? Please, tell us, how long have you worked in this field to gain this awesome knowledge that none of us plebeians can touch? Ten years? 20? I think you're a ****ing programmer with less than 5 years in the industry. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not interested in taking art advice from you.

I was also recently trying out Alpha Protocol (because of the Steam sale), but I seem to have given up after only two missions. Incredibly small maps, enemies that disappear if you pass some invisible line, big yellow bouncing markers indicating EVERYTHING you can do (which isn't much..), whether it is climbing a ladder or sliding down a wire.. Combine this with clunky graphics, an engine that stutters on a system well above recommended hardware (common UE3 problem), no quicksave/quickload. It's not difficult to see why this game was slated by the press. I want to like it, but.. I haven't felt like picking it up after those first two missions. Edit: Now that I think about it, it gives me the same feeling Deus Ex: Invisible War gave me back in the day. That slightly clumsy, cramped feeling.
