PETITION: PLEASE CHANGE THE INFINITE AMMO DESIGN
mkreku replied to Xard's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
According to the Firefox spell checker there is. -
I can't believe this game is as even as it is! Detroit has totally dominated the Penguins again, but the scoreboard still forced them into overtime. Go Lidstr

PETITION: PLEASE CHANGE THE INFINITE AMMO DESIGN

I second this. When I first read about Alpha Protocol it sounded like a more realistic Deus Ex and I was excited as hell! Then these little tidbits keep dropping and now we have evil teenage girls with twin pistols that look like they've been ripped from some generic Anim -
Ouch, puck in the face of Malone!

That's really all I want from Microsoft: a cut down version of their OS. I mean, they have the skill to make it fast, reliable and secure.. and not demand a super computer just to run the OS! Slimmed down and with only the basic functions built in. I can get my own WinRAR, Irfanview, Firefox, Paint.NET, ImgBurn, etc., thank you very much. Guess I'm sticking with XP until we see what Windows 7 is all about.

PETITION: PLEASE CHANGE THE INFINITE AMMO DESIGN

I agree. I also never ran out of medpacks or power cells in Deus Ex. Or health thingies in Jagged Alliance 2. Or stimpacks in Fallout. Or health potions in every other generic RPG I've ever played, including my beloved Gothic series. What does your line of logic tell you about that? Naturally, not all weapons should be ammunition limited, but that's so obvious I never actually thought I had to spell it out for anyone. Yes, it's the top-end, unique and interesting (some might call them overpowered) weapons that should be ammo limited, not the 10mm starting pistol (that most people drop after the first battle anyhow). Also, since this game plays out in a contemporary setting with locations all over the world, it would be quite natural having problems finding Dragunov ammo in the US, for example. Or Desert Eagle ammo in Moscow. Russia does not follow NATO ammunition standards. -
Damn, time moves slowly when you're waiting for something exciting. Go Lidstr

I honestly don't remember, but are you referring to the original System Shock because System Shock 2 definitely didn't have unlimited anything? Anyhow, when I think of Alpha Protocol, I think of RPG's (not the weapon, you nuts). Therefore, comparing it to Halo or NOLF is a bit pointless. I would personally compare it to the great RPG's I've played that also used real life conteporary weapons (or at least somewhat realistic weapons). I'm thinking Jagged Alliance 2 (limited), Deus Ex (limited), Wasteland (extremely limited), Fallout & Fallout 2 (limited) and so on. These are some of my all-time favourites we're talking about so hearing about how they're dumbing stuff down (what Rorie & Co refers to as "streamlining") is really disheartening. Game isn't finished yet though, maybe this isn't a finalized decision? -
Hey, anyone wanna see me do my magic trick where I basically insult the female so thoroughly that she never returns to these boards and the moderators go into a collective knight-in-shining-armour mode (aka Metadigital mode) and ban me for a month for doing so?

A few new Fallout 3 shots have been spotted: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=78753 A very sad PIP boy is the only one I haven't seen before, I think.

Can't you throw rocks at it?

PETITION: PLEASE CHANGE THE INFINITE AMMO DESIGN
mkreku replied to Xard's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Why do American game designers always cater to the lowest common denominator when designing their games? In this case, I think they've reached the bottom of the human genome barrel: the rednecks! I mean, who else would ever think "Uh, having ammo is lame. Much cooler to have unlimited ammo so you can shoot things constantly and never have to stop and think!!"? Bad, bad design decision. Signed (and I'd like to bitchslap the person responsible for this brilliant design choice). -
Here's another one who wants to see these scans! But unlimited ammo?? Who the hell made that decision? That's not quite as stupid as the Deus Ex: Invisible War unified ammo decision, but it's not far behind! I love running out of ammo! I love having to switch to a new weapon when I've run out of ammo in my favourite one! I love finding a box of my favourite weapons ammo hidden away in some obscure place! I love having to take down as many enemies I can with headshots because I am low on ammo! I love fiddling in my inventory with different ammo types, trying to decide which weapon to use in which situation depending on the scarcity of the different ammo types! Also, how the hell will they fool my mind into forgetting I am playing a game when I can't run out of ammo? Talk about breaking the immersion..

I did not have a chance to see the game last night, but I have seen all the replays I've found on the Internet. I love it when Zetterberg outmuscles the Kid on the 5-on-3 right in front of Osgood! Dropped him right on his ass, haha! Detroit up 3-1 in games. And home game advantage in the fifth game. Go go Lidstr

Unlimited ammo?? **** THAT.

Yeah, me too! Kirottu's grandmother is freakin' hot!

I don't think the Zen Stone Plus can break.. First of all, it weighs nothing so it just bounces when you drop it. Second.. I think it's built out of some kind of rubber Oh, and the most sensitive part (the screen) is tiny and placed in such a way that it'll never take the blow if you drop it. Unless you drop it on a spike and it hits the screen.. somehow.

I think it's torture! I want to get into the team and help out!

I really don't understand this complaint, unless you mean how the weapon degradation is wayyy faster than in real life. Why were they horrible? Have you ever fired a weapon in real life? Any pistol? Any automatic weapon? A shotgun? I'm asking because I thought STALKER had one of the best weapon feels I've ever played. Compare it to Crysis or Call of Duty or most shooters and it's miles ahead. Yes, the weapons behaved like wild animals in your hands.. but that's because that's what (cheap) real weapons do! They are mechanical beasts that does everything possible to get out of your grip when you fire them. Anyone who has ever fired an actual Kalashnikov AK-47 will confirm this (and wear goggles!). Anyone can fire one shot with a weapon and get it pretty much on target. The problem comes when you're forced to fire a second shot within a second of the first. Chances are you'd not only miss bull's eye, you'd miss the entire target.

You will probably not notice any difference except when running artificial tests. Also, your RAM needs to be really fast to take advantage of the new front bus speed. I am betting your current RAM isn't even maxing out the 800 MHz bus.

I use the Creative Zen Stone Plus 4GB (black) when I am out running. http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/multim...stone-plus.html I can easily recommend it as it's very light and small and has a stopwatch built in. It costs almost nothing and you can buy a very good arm band from Creative that lets you put it comfortably on your upper arm. There's a picture of it in the link I provided. The only drawbacks it has is that it has to be loaded by a USB connection and the menus aren't the fastest.

Crosby IS a baby! It's easy to forget that he's only 20 years old. But that also means he does some questionable things on the ice because of his inexperience. His leadership skills aren't fully developed. He may fail to lead a team through the playoffs on the simple fact that he's never BEEN this deep into the playoffs before. Give him some time and I'm sure he'll be a great leader, but as it is now, it's just a show. One thing he definitely needs to stop doing is to show his emotion by whining to the refs. Constantly. All the time. He should harness that energy and wreak havoc on the ice in the next shift instead. I think they made him the captain so early because Americans LOVE their stats and charts and ****, so they wanted him to be the youngest this and that in the history books. But it's OK. It doesn't always have to be the person wearing the C that leads in the locker room. I can guarantee you that Crosby didn't stand there in the dressing room, 19-20 year old and a rookie, and held speeches for the veteran players on the team.

I don't know? When did I rule out a PDA? It's just that I'm not sure if there are PDA's out there that can receive phone calls.. Better having a smart phone, I think. -
I forgot to mention: Crosby has been great in this game! Not only because he's scored two goals, but this is also the first time he hasn't shied away from the physical game. He even had a great bone-crunching hit behind Osgood! He finally looks like a leader, although I still think it was pretty premature to give him the captaincy.

I was going to whine about the refs, but they're starting to even things out now. I still didn't like that they missed the stick in the mouth on Lidstr
