Are you sure? I wouldn't be surprised if the FPS version of Fallout (Fallout 3) sold more than all the other Fallout's combined by now. I don't even think "most people" wanted the original Fallouts to be what you describe. And that was ten years ago! Personally, that's where I thought Bethesda did their best job: the transition from an obsolete play-with-dolls view to first person view. The moment you step out of the vault in Fallout 3 and your eyes adjust to the light and you see this vast wasteland before you.. and you realize it's all there for you to explore and enjoy.. That was powerful. Of course, then I found the story and the game sank like a rock. Still! Credit where credit is due: the wasteland is wonderfully realized.

The weirdest thing happened to me last night. I was watching the Pittsburgh - Capitals game online because I couldn't get it on anyone of my channels. Well, this online place had a chat window next to it and while I was watching, I kept commenting the game commentators, turning everything they said into some sort of sexual innuendo. I thought I was kind of funny, and so did one other person who kept laughing and calling me a "nutter". When the game ended I got a personal message from this person with an email address, so I added it to my MSN. It turned out that the person who thought I was a nutter was a 21 year old (or so she said) girl from Wales. She sent me a message saying something like "u want to c2c?". Naturally, I answered "No, I don't want to 'c2c', that sounds like a disease". So she laughed and invited me to a cam session with the words "hahaha this is for u k" (I'm too dumb for abbreviations like that). I clicked the link and this girl flashed her boobs for me! I'm not kidding! She actually thought I was so funny that she rewarded me with a glimpse of her boobs! It was awesome. Needless to say, I love hockey.

This is also one of the standard easy escapes a la Codex/NMA. Of course Van Buren would be perfect.. in your mind. It was never made. It might have been crappier than Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel or it might have been the greatest game ever made, we will never know. My guess would be the former, otherwise it might have actually gotten made. But it's very convenient to take an unmade game as an example of the perfect game.

No, you don't. And everyone except you understands this. What you want is the same experience the first game/games gave you, which is, of course, not possible. So you will never be happy. You'll always be as bitter and negative as you are now. It's not the games that must change, it's something in your head.

Yeah, speaking of Fallout: New Vegas. Like the rest of you.. ANYHOW, this is what I would like to see in the desert: Ominous skies, a distant mountain range in the distance, the urge to pass the next dune to see what lies ahead. Curiously, it's also a suitable comment on my social life right now.

Oh wow, I used to love him in The Cannonball Run and Smokey And the Bandit (although we watched those movies because of Burt Reynolds).. When I was like.. seven or something. Had totally forgotten that he ever existed. Rest in peace, Fatso.

You know, it's almost impossible for me to read any articles published in North American media. The writing style is so ridiculously melodramatic, humourless and sentimental. I'm sure Brashear's had an interesting life, but damn if I'm going to read through that garbage to get the gist of it.

Does Ubisoft even offer that to be licensed? I have no idea. I think the main idea was that Eidos Montreal (who are developing Deus Ex 3, apparently) would collaborate with Ubisoft Montreal (who made Assassin's Creed) or something like that. I didn't give it much thought at the time, but now that you mention it, it might sound a bit.. unrealistic.

And naturally in your eternal wisdom you've judged that Fallout 3 is completely wrong and breaking believability and Fallout/Fallout2 did nothing wrong. Funnily? There IS nothing else. One of the major weaknesses in Fallout/Fallout 2. You can't explore anything but the places populated by humans! The overland map is useless because it contains nothing but time wasting as you sit and watch the dot creep around the populated zones, interspersed with unbalanced random encounters. This is another one of these blatantly unconsidered criticisms against Fallout 3 only because it is Fallout 3. Both games have the same flaw, only one is more detailed and gets hammered for it.

I've read somewhere that they're using the Assassin's Creed engine for Deus Ex 3 so I am excited! I just wish they would start the hype machine soon so we get more to look at than that linked teaser. By the way, I thought the technology in Assassin's Creed was amazing. So beautiful, vast and smooth. If only it hadn't suffered from so much consolitis (forced widescreen, idiotic controls, weird save system etc.) and repetitive gameplay, it would have been a classic. I am sure they're aware of these flaws by now though so both Assassin's Creed 2 and Deus Ex 3 (if that rumour about the tech turns out to be true) won't make the same mistakes again.

So, to sum it up: you're arguing that your old 2D game isn't low res because some other game unrelated to the discussion defaults to its lowest possible setting and this somehow proves that your 2D game isn't low res..? Are you trying to win an award for dumbest, most pointless argument ever? Useless opinion. So you think your favourite game has better graphics than a game you hate? I'm glad J.E. Sawyer seems to have moved on with the times, with the new ability for story-telling that's available to him and seemingly embracing new technology with all its advantages and disadvantages.
