  1. Or spend time discussing games like that, or even more incomprehensibly, games they don't play.
  2. Ah, that makes sense, I guess. So the screen displays your overall "reputation" in white, and the higher of your two alignment scores in the appropriate color. I think that's it. I wouldn't metagame the EMS, as I'm sure you know, the differences in the endings are negligible, I'd just go with what feels right.
  3. I could get behind this. Always wanted to kill that jerk Cyric. I can hardly see this happening, because of the setting that was established... Even allowing The Bhaalspawn to reach godhood would require acknowledgment by WotC and changes to that particular timeline. Given the timeline, I could see only Cyrics defeat as not accomplishing his goal, but never his demise, whereas the Bhaalspawn would get dominion over some portfolio, not necessarily related to the old Bhaal's one. But since it's a no go, I guess I can stop my further theorycrafting Eh, no, BG is non-canon, anyway.
  4. Are you telling me you didn't enjoy Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas? Seriously now I found FO3 really, really boring. FONV was a lot better, but it was extremely unstable on PS3 at the time, so playing it was a bit of a chore. Never got the DLC for it, either. Might have to take another stab at it now, see how it got stabler and how the DLC works out. I've realised a long time ago that the Bethesda games just aren't my cup of tea.
  5. I'm gonna print this out and frame it for future reference.
  6. Yyyeah. Then it's just feeding the addiction/equivalent, I guess? I actually do it to have fun, even if it doesn't always deliver.
  7. Whining starts a long way before anyone's come close to dying. But sure, sometimes people are catastrophically bad.
  8. Nice one Nep, thats good news Thanks. I'm also terrified, but, hey.
  9. It's suffering more from the "starting to look a bit dodgy" syndrome, tbh.
  10. Not sure if this should be in the "funny stuff" thread... but I got offered a job in the boondocks (as I guessed I might), and I accepted. I'm moving from a 60+ person lobbying firm into a 3 lawyer nitty gritty country full service one. And I'm ecstatic. No. I'm actually buying it mostly for hifi use, because it actually makes a really good price/quality alternative for that use. The availability of the Ortofon Concorde cart family makes it so much less of a pain to set up than most turntables. + I like the way it looks.>
  11. Buying a 2nd hand Technics SL1210mk2 on ebay. Kind of buying a 475 euro lottery ticket. But I think I need to buy something out of the ordinary to cheer myself up, and a turntable to replace to the one I flogged to make ends meet when I was clerking five years ago seems like a good purchase.
  12. That's a good feeling, I managed to get it once in the year I spent here lobbying. Smaller place, though, easier to sneak stuff in.
  13. I don't think so, I've definitely noticed a certain amount of kickstarter gaming fatigue. Personally, I won't back another game until some of the earlier ones start dropping. I did cough up for the Elmore art book, but, hey... Concrete and fast.
  14. I haven't been following D&D for a while (been playing Pathfinder for a bit with my group before we disbanded) but.. they did? Dragonlance was pretty popular last time I checked, and it's not like they had any problem keeping more than one traditional fantasy setting, given that they also kept pushing Greyhawk with 3/3.5. This was a part of the move to 4th edition, they axed the licenses for all the licensed properties (Ravenloft, Dragonlance). They didn't want them competing with FR/Eberron whatnot. The real tragedy of the matter was that DL was licensed to Margaret Weis's publishing house, and they had a significant bunch of the original DL team working on the fluff (and game material), with the addition of Cam Banks, a hugely talented RPG developer. IMO Their real innovation was supporting different eras of play (and time travel), including branching histories. Some of my favourite books, and a way of making a fairly vanilla fantasy setting interesting on its own.
  15. I'm still kind of sore about WotC cancelling the successful (licensed to original authors) Dragonlance 3.5e line. One can never have too much awesome.
  16. ^^ I really should stop posting here, other people invariably post what I've tried to take a stab at with a lot more information and eloquence. He's not the only one, really.
  17. I've had that too. Sucks. Not that my middle name is a lot better, but, hey.
  18. Nothing per se, but of a series that wasn't open world moves to that kind of design simply because it's perceived to be more popular (which Alan has confirmed not to be the case for DAIII) there is plenty of wrong. Is that a trend? Mmh, I'd have to think about it, but it seems to me that it is, given the recent popularity of open-world titles, and we've already seen some developers shifting to open-world or marketing titles as open-world/sandboxy. I think you're channeling some gaming hipster here. I wouldn't say that the reason for adopting some type of approach to gaming means anything compared to how it is executed. Besides, Open World is a vague enough term. BG1 could easily be labeled open world, while BG2 less so. Having BG1 type open-worldness... might be pretty cool.
  19. I bought the OS X port a while back, but it refuses to boot on my "main" (I use the term hesitantly, since it's a htpc) for some reason their customer support never figured out. It would appear to work on my laptop, but... So, yeah, I need to get some gaming done with it, soonish. Look how the list is getting longer... BG2, Torment, CoH...
  20. Been eating more healthily (and less), which is easy since I've essentially been living with my mother for the past three weeks (skinny lady :D). I'm now down about 5,5kilos from where I was in early december. Slow going, but in 2009 I crash dieted 20 kilos and got it basically immediately back after the ex walked out on me. Trying now to go slower, and not motivate myself with amazing women. Hell, I haven't even really started, I'm not counting calories or exercising, just eating better and walking the 10-15 minutes to work and back most days. That sucks man, I feel for you.
  21. 38 % income tax (includes some compulsory social i surance, though), 24 % VAT. Current job has a pretty good health plan, but anything actually serious would probably have to go through my personal insurance, which I can't really specify, since it includes accident coverage etc. Really glad I kept it going through my employment, I doubt I'd get anything that good now. No dental though, as there almost never is in Finland. Last time I switched jobs I wound up paying ariubd 1000e for root canal...
  22. It's pretty obvious to most people here... What?? NO! You're Finnish. Go away. Here was a refence to my workplace, not "here", my supercilious swedish friend.
  23. People are picking up a habit of accusing me of lying with flimsy grounds. I don't like it. Firstly, I was speaking of people I've "seen", either online or in person. Obviously, this is not everybody. Secondly, most people are incapable of forming their own opinions and will just follow the loudest noise. Clearly, the haters were the loudest re: DA2.
  24. So sorry, WD. Sounds positively Lovecraftian.
