So it's just another Sega game getting harshly reviewed, just like Alpha Protocol?

Ah yes, Kangaxx. Still on my to-do list in my current game. Got the staff from the Twisted Rune (is that the name?) and am about to go up against his cousin in Watchers Keep (4th level, working on getting access to Lum the Mad's machine). There is a Demi Lich and a Dragon in the Gith Yanki part of the dungeon. Not too worried about the dragon, having already taken care of the black (whose name I can't remember), Firkraag and the silver dragon (for a nice skin armour for Viconia). The latter is now 100 in Magic Resistance and has absurd saving throws. I've been stacking up a bit on Spell Immunity spells/scrolls in preparation for the Demi Lich. Immunity Abjuration FTW Ring of the Ram is also priceless for that fight, ignoring magic resistance, giving you a good head start. I'm pretty sure that the last time I played the game good old Vicky did Kangaxx pretty much by herself... Maybe with flail of ages, can't remember. I suddenly have a list of games to play longer than my... it's very long.

Credit list also features Demiurge Studios, of ME1 PC port and, especially, Pinnacle Station fame. *shudder*

The (catastrophic) intro until Flemeth + the somewhat more entertaining Isabela recruiting mission spliced in. Mmm, Isabela... While I applaud the decision to make the demo, the intro level wasn't exactly the best one Bioware's ever designed (close to the contrary, I'd say), and probably succeeded in turning off a lot of people who might have been on the fence otherwise.
-
No, it should have taught you that you can't let just anyone stab at your build, and that there are priorities, as mentioned.
-
After all these years spent here, I still find this "obsidian vs. bioware" setup ludicrous. Yes, from both sides of the argument.
-
I'm surprised you, who've worked on some fairly extensive mods, would be ignorant enough to write something like that.

I seem to have managed to forget a lot of things lately. Let's see if it lasts. If it does, I might have some pointers, including but not limited to taking a doctoral degree or really ****ing up your life otherwise. :D

"Same" to both. I was 8 or 9 at the time, I believe and hadn't studied a day of English. Steep learning curve I still have the box and discs, for some of the others, as well! I've actually never played champions and death knights of krynn, nor the savage frontier games because they were nevers ported to the mac. Otoh, some of the gold box mac versions, especially Secret of the Silver Blades had greatly improved artwork on the mac. Guess there's a few more games I need to add to my list, even if I doubt I no longer have the patience for turn-based....

First day of the holiday without a bazillion errands to run... Good easy breakfast, soon off for a pizza and a final movie at my old apartment with a buddy. Good times. Need to getmy workout on next week, though.

I used to be a teetotaller, but then I remembered how much I hate extremism of all kinds, so now I partake occasionally and moslt in moderation. I've picked up an appreciation for single malt whiskey, though. Lots of variety and generally quite acceptable to nurse one for more extended periods...

My take on ME3 these days is that I found the game ultimately disappointing as a whole (the way me2 npcs just cameo, beefcake mcboredom, disappointing and contrived story elements from Rannoch onwards) and that my personal frustration with the ending was due to my hope that It Would Get Better. Instead, it got worse. But, yeah. Ot.

Talking about dates, I should share my experience with that Chef. So we decided to skip the waffles and move to a good drinking spot, we get on really well and during the drinking of Tequila and Vodka she explained that she just got out of a relationship and wants to be friends, or rather she doesn't want pressure to take the relationship to the next level. I am fine with that as I want to get to know her first anyway as I like her. Anyway during the course of the evening she became very physical with me which surprised me as she was the one who said "lets just stay friends for the moment" I get confused by this type of response, as I take what ladies say literally. So if a lady says " lets be friends", that means to me that I mustn't make a move. So we had a really good time and I will see her again but I won't initiate anything more than being her friend She is also making a documentary around a cooking show that she wants to sell to the various South African TV Networks, and thats really exciting for her and something I want to support her with When a girl says she wants to be your friend, she's usually a) seeing if you are just looking for a quick lay and are easily discouraged at the prospect of putting some work in (in which case you should press on) b) you've ****ed up and she's lost interest (in which case you should move on) or c) actually likes you a lot, but not enough to ditch the outlaw biker/sugar daddy she has currently in rotation (in which case you should open a large bottle of single malt and get hammered). Based on your account, looks like type a. Never take anything a woman says literally. I agree, that would seem to be exactly what she was meaning. Option A, you are clever Nep. It may also me Option C but I'll find out this weekend as I plan to take her out again Personal experience, and other people's experience. I spend a lot of time drinking whiskey, personally.

Eh, most open-world games a la GTA had really strictly predefined protagonists, so it's nothing new. Or at least nothing revolutionary. I planned on buying a pc for this and other games, but then I blew that budget just on bookshelves today

Bolded part. After ME1 i always tought Reapers go Citadel first even not directly. But they didn't and even after they captured it (another great loss of game not showing us this part...should be a Citadel mission where we try to evacute it via space or that secret portal) they didnt turn off mass relay... I mean they can easly avoid that last (shallow...)space battle so easily but they did not and more dissapointing thing is they took Citadel with them to Earth, right into our hands... Most of the playerbase hate ME3s ending but there are lots of dissapointing moments way before getting there... Another great potantial wasted. Coz after ME1, the citadel no longer controls the mass relays. Even after the Reapers capture the Citadel, the relays work just fine. No plot hole there.

That's also how RPG is defined in the USA. Hence Skyrim, Deus Ex, Diablo, the Witcher, and Fable all being RPGs despite very different types and levels of player agency. I've never seen a definition of RPG that didn't involve two men enter, one man leaves.

I'll "spoiler" this, though it's probably pretty widely known by now That + the Leviathan DLC makes me even more convinced that the Starchild is insane and lying, and Destroy - even with the contrived sacrifices - is the way to go.
-
Well, it starts at 1 am for me and I'm watching, so you don't really have an excuse, do you? (Great to be able to watch after a year or two now that I'm on holiday. I very much hope that my new easy-going place of employment will allow me to indulge without having to call in sick or shenanigans like that)

No, you need to pick every available paragon/renegade option when talking to TIM (and consistently, so always the one or the other), and there's one in the first dialogue with him on Mars that is easy to miss. The "extended cut" changes lowered that threshold a bit, such that all 3 options were open to me, despite not doing any of the multiplayer or subsequent DLC. (There's also the "you lose" option of shooting the kid in the head, which I tried on a whim on my first pass. The nearest save point, though, is before all that "walking incredibly slowly" stuff, so that was totally not worth it.) I elided the "Contol" and "Synthesis" options together in my earlier post because I felt that they were both equally speculative and well beyond the scope of the job I was trying to accomplish. Shep is a soldier, not a philosopher, and she's certainly not the type to trust a murderous ancient space AI when told that she can upload her brain or fundamentally alter the nature of all life throughout the galaxy. She found her target and pulled the trigger. (Then she reloaded her game and found the better target.) You could always get the three main endings without DLC or MP, it was the hidden additional "destroy" epilogue that required (requires? I still don't know if the threshold for that was changed) MP to boost the readiness.

Good, that level of self confidence will help.

Just saw that on the shelf earlier today and wondered if I should give it a spin again. Fun, quirky game.

Dude. The next time I tell you not to do X or wind up in the friendzone, will you believe me or push your luck for another happy accident?

Everything Gabe said just reinforces my sentiments that everything heavily controlled and centralised - Consoles, Corporations and the European Union - suck and have no future. The future are Internet economies, personal 3D Printers and TF2 hats! Gabe said so therefor I will follow! Valve is a corporation. Corporations come in all sizes. Incorporation is a legal method of separating the assets and income of a business or non-profit enterprise from the assets and income of its owners/shareholders and employees. That said, Valve is a sizable corporation. It's no Fortune 500 company, but it's bigger than your run of the mill local construction firm. And the EU is a loose alliance of independent nations, not a confederation with a strong central government. A number of European economists are constantly complaining about the fact that its central bank is essentially impotent compared to, say, the US Federal Reserve. The EU can't set interest rates, it can't engage in quantitative easing, etc. Any EU member can leave if it so chooses. The EU is closer to the UN than it is to a highly centralized federal system like that of the US. Keeping in mind that the UN is pretty much impotent in all matters, especially relating to the actions of certain permanent security council members. The difference in the first point is that one is privately held, the comparison points are publically traded. Technically you are correct, of course, but... Your information on the EU is total bs, though. The ECB can set interest rates just fine, for example... and the UN comparison... no.

Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Ch26 (Mae'Var)
Nepenthe replied to Tigranes's topic in Computer and Console
Does that make you a cunning linguist, now Wait, you can lower resistance an neutral party without making it attack? I tended to rely on brute force for BG2 dragonfights. Hasted fighters, summoned elementals and aerial servants, etc. Wizard-types would be on-hand with appropriate counter-spells, but the prospect of lowering resistances and saving throws just felt like it took too many combat rounds for too-uncertain results. I had better luck with crossbow bolts. (Seriously-- my first Firkraag kill was attributed to a critical hit from Jan Jansen.) In the original release game you could cast "resist magic" or whatever, which would overrule the dragons' much higher magic resistance and not count as a hostile action. I've never gotten to abuse that, as it was already sorted by the Baldurdash fixpack. Also, am I just pointing the obvious when I say that something was changed recently in the way the forum editor handles quotes, and it's ****ing terrible now.
