  1. It's funny, most people argue that they are buying a physical item analogue, and thus claim that their rights to use it shouldn't be limited in any way up until the moment they lose the discs and then start saying that because it's digital, they should replace it for free.
  2. I dunno, from what I've seen of the series, I think it's all right. edit:... and I was beat to it!
  3. Charisma is particularly difficult, since it includes natural leadership ability, "animal magnetism", ~looks etc. I score high in these tests since I invariably become the guy people look to make their decisions for them in a tight spot - even before the legal education. Meanwhile my dad, a short round fellow, is instinctively liked by children and small animals and has absurd luck with the ladies.
  4. Adjunct. No. Yes, but I like to keep my "real" identity private.
  5. Or a stick up the ass and a burning desire to smite opposition, which we Paladins have in spades. That's true. The old paladin high charisma requirement has always translated poorly into practice.
  6. These countries will always have borders where the lines become fuzzy, at the very least. There are also successful examples of multilingual countries...
  7. They had military troops going from house to house, no cars, buses, trains going in or out and the people were under curfew. Something that they didn't even do when the Donner situation happened. Is not the act but the scope of the act itself that seems more akin to martial law than just a lockdown. Also they keep mentioning that the brothers are charged with using WWD; now I may not know what the legal definition for WWD is but I'm fairly sure that there is a world of difference between a nuclear bomb and a homemade device that injured 22 and killed 2. Plus there is the fact that the FBI was at the scene running bomb drills the same day, with allegedly bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish line. It's just a very suspicious situation considering that there is more questions than evidence of guilt. ... "military troops"? What happened to posse comitatus? Or were they coast guard?
  8. I've long been of the opinion that the only real reason to play BG1 is that it makes you appreciate BG2 more. That said, I recommend BGEE.
  9. I address the validity of the poll's results further down. Also, thank you, confidence is more important than skill. I disagree. Finding someone who is essentially average in every conceivable quality is going to be less common than finding people who excel in certain areas and are weak in others, or someone who is better/worse in all categories. After all, every D&D stat can arguably be improved with work or deteriorate with a lack of effort. IRL, yes of course. However, this poll is not representative of real life any more than Oby's ramblings are in touch with reality. Take into account that the questions in this poll that determined ability scores had four answers each, which essentially were a negative, a neutral, a positive, and a super-positive. If one were to chose the positive response for the questions concerning one attribute, they would end up with 15 or 16(as I did with STR, CON, and WIS). If one were to chose an even mixture of positive and super-positive for questions concerning a particular attribute, they would end up with a score of 17 or 18(as I did with INT and CHA). This reads more like an 8 charisma to me.
  10. Finally got my turntable up and running (got thecartridge and dust cover i wanted new today). Enjoying some quality acid trance at the moment (Pranksterz - Jah Lion, Acid Selassie mix)
  11. Almost always a warrior type... Paladin or ranger in BGs...
  12. The point I was trying to make was that the area's always been a buffer zone between East and West, and thus subject to basically millennia of conflict. Theoretically Finland is a similar zone, just considerably less inhabited and more peaceful in the past 65 years.
  13. You Are A: Lawful Neutral Halfling Wizard (5th Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 12 Dexterity- 14 Constitution- 12 Intelligence- 18 Wisdom- 14 Charisma- 16

The less said about my connection with VNV Nation, the better, but I've really been into Aesthetic Perfection for a couple of months now. Not listening to anything else, really. Odd how it happens sometimes.
  15. The fact is, there's about as many different interpretations of what's happened in the Balkans as there are people with any kind of picture to it. You don't really need to look closer than Bysantine history to see that the place has always had a special relationship with violence. I think it's fair to say that the situation is very complex and multilayered. Propaganda paints things as black and white, but even those that are more switched on, like our friend Drowsy, still look at it from a vastly different point of view due to being, obviously, both physically, culturally and mentally closer to the current and past events. Western interventions into the former Yugoslav states and the functioning of the war crimes tribunal hasn't been exactly exemplary, with another fairly strong dose of black and whitening going on there. My only worry is that the situation will never improve as long as the one Volk, one Reich attitude remains. Even among intelligent and educated people. Just my short rationale for the earlier trolling, not trying to be exhaustive here.
  16. I have never seen so much pretentious hogwash written about a computer game (games journalists = contradiction in terms) as I have about Bioshock Infinite. According to the online hivemind it was like John Paul Satre meets The Seven Samurai. I watched a live feed and it looks like a very average steampunk-ish FPS. WTF? Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game that got "universal acclaim"... IIRC even DXHR was "too yellow"?
  17. There are muslims in certain parts of Serbia, but they're not Serbs. They declare themselves as Bosniaks/Bosnians/of bosnian muslim origin and consider themselves a separate nation. Serbian nationality is tied to being Orthodox Chrisian, or at the very least an atheist/agnostic. This is so hilariously fascist I wish I had the energy to troll the **** out of it.Edit: to be somewhat less of a ****, I'm constantly amazed how for such an apparently smart guy you can both be so blind to your own bias and so full of nationalist serb propaganda. Nothing fascist about it - that's exactly what they would say to you if you asked them what nationality they are - even if they actually have a Serbian citizenship. Ask any muslim from former Yugoslavia if they're a Serb and I'll rather enjoy hearing what they tell you. Everyone who meets the conditions under the law can get the citizenship - and is free to declare their nationality. If they do (declare themselves a Serbian), even if they are of another religion they're likely to be welcomed with open arms as much as the next man. I'm not any more likely to discriminate against them than anyone else is. Its just that that's not what usually happens. The Serbian identity was formed by clinging to orthodox christian faith to escape assimilation during a very long and agonizing period of muslim, Turkish occupation. Its simply what the historical events are. The musims were the occupier = enemy and any Serb who became a muslim by extension, became a part of the occupying forces. Its not a little fascist club of "blut und boden" - it was literally hold to your faith and survive or assimilate and disappear. That's why the nationality and religious denomination are hard/impossible to separate. Which part of that don't you understand? PS: obviously there are some middle eastern nationals (or from other parts of the world) living and working in Serbia, just like everyone else. See, now that's more like it.

  19. I like the fact that I can sometimes get both win and os x versions for one price, but I tend to avoid it due to the rabid fanboyism it enjoys. Personally, I buy few enough pc games (mostly console here) for most of the supposed benefits to kick in, anyway. I guess.
  20. First lazy weekend in ages... Bar exam's taken, might not pass, but the next opportunity is in september, so have time to chill a bit... Back in Helsinki, too, but at the moment too tired to take much advantage of it...
  21. There's a fair number of doctors, and others in the medical profession that are marathon runners - my brother included. I think a lot of people are just geared to want to help people, especially nurses, medics and doctors.Yes, they are also conditioned to react rapidly to changing circumstances.
  22. For a while. Obviously they'd invaded Finland earlier in the war... And there's the rest of the Molotov/Ribbentrop pact stuff, too.
  23. Obviously, being the grandson of a chaplain from a front line Finnish Army unit, I might have inherited a slightly different picture of it from most "westerners".
