Professional opinion: MW might be onto something. Also agree that it's different from itunes, OVI etc. -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

Probably the new Hitman, at least. WTH is going on btw., announcements this week like at e3 O_o -
I once needed to roll a measly 9 on a total of 7 dice in a game of WH40K to deliver a serious blow to my mortal enemy (my little brother). It came up six 1's and a 2. I lost the game. And I lost a squad of terminators in one round in 2e 40k (3+ on 2d6)

A telescopic baton with appropriate training would probably be one of the best instruments (reach, light, non-lethal), but entertainingly, the punishment for carrying one here is greater than for carrying a knife.

Yes. On topic: I'm mildly amused by the fact that the first new Valve release after the much-vaunted Mac version of Steam is not available on Mac. I realise that this is due to the nature of the project, and Portal 2 is indeed supposed to be the first winmac game, but still. I intentionally keep my windows partitions tiny + the pain of rebooting to it, so I'll skip this for now, no matter how much fun it looks. You're surprised they didn't port the free, mod based niche game that they'll get no profit from to a platform that has a tiny playerbase? Right... Mac users sense of entitlement is only rivaled by their smugness 1) Where did I say I was surprised? "mildly amused" was the expression I used. I even said I understood why. 2) The thing is they have rebuilt the engine so no "porting" is required. So if this free project had been built with the Portal 2 version of Source, instead of a previous build, no extra effort would have been required. Now it is, so we might/might not see it in the future. *shrug* 3) I thank you for sharing your personal grievances with mac users with us. Now go back and read what I wrote without an axe to grind.

HAHA, I'm again beating Monte to the punch. Boot up Dragon Age: Origins. Fight in tunnels until urge to commit suicide strikes.

Apart from the traditional "I wanna make the hugest and most encompassingest gameworld" syndrome every DM and apparently Bioware writer suffers from, I think the "franchiseability" is indeed key here. Also, when you got the "whole" world mapped out in advance, with basic sociopolitical structures for all the areas, it's a major writing aid. (Antivan Crows, Qunari mercs etc.)

Do I have your permission to use that? Ah, I'm going to anyway. Re mistakes: there's only one way of learning about life in general and human relations in particular, and that's the hard way. So in fact my advice would be "kids, don't be like your uncle #s. Better to crash and burn than spend nights wondering how things might have turned out". Or maybe I just plain old suck. Yeah, that's DEFINITE. It's always better to go for it that keep wondering. But also, if you have a chance to set the scene to your advantage, it's better to do it that way than rush straight in. Honestly, since March, I've mostly just been exploring how thin the line between love and hate is. It's amazing how long you can keep letting a person disappoint you when you REALLY have feelings for them. But, it's is better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all. And better to have actually loved, than mistaken infatuation or even convenience for love.

Bingo. All my friends have settled down as well - and their relationships were all founded on anything but romance (my favourite is the guy who picked the girl with the nice ass, cute accent and gold taps at home. Or the one who let his lab pair just take over his life and apartment.) Me, I was romantic, got epically dumped and now spend my time mostly with a serious amount of gaming equipment and occasional stints as a free agent in the local nightlife So, if there's a point to all this, it's mostly "kids, don't be like your uncle Nepenthe. He's made all the mistakes in the book so you don't have to." Late edit: In fact, it's like Rosbjerg's assessment proved my earlier point! ;D

It's the latter, I've known more than a few from before they came into possession of cards of the abovementioned marque. They are the garden variety buttholes, though, the real royal turds buy X-series beamers. Never known anybody with a Porsche Cayenne or an H2, but I suspect severe potence-related issues rather than an inherently warped personality.

Charm... and grace... How old are you, exactly? No, really, sometimes I feel like I'm separated by a generation gap from people of my age, probably comes from having relatively old parents. LOL. Older than I should be, perhaps. But romance is inherently old fashioned from what I can gather. If you want to do something old fashioned then old fashioned virtues apply, I guess. Yeah, I probably could have made my point better, but I can't help but feel that romance is dead in the Nordic countries.

Are all those red-marked areas to be visited in DA2? Well, it's also basically any place that has been mentioned in the first game + a couple of new ones, so going to all of those might be somewhat... indulgent. For a story spanning 10 years though, it could be good to change scenarios so much. I mean, the areas are little already, so at least make them look all unique. Granted, I honestly doubt that we'll visit all those places during the game. True, true. A lot depends on the size of the "flashes" etc. I'm sure we'll see. Currently 53 hours into my first DAO game on the PC side. Considering I still got quite a bit left, it's pretty impressive for a game these days. Still, I probably could have traded about 5-10 hours of repetitive bits from the recruitment quests...

Yeah, that's promising for sure. Still better than remake of ...Pools of Radiance...Pools of Radiance...Pools of Radiance So you are now dissing 1988 classics here, seminal RPGs? Or the sad Pool of Radiance 2: Ruins of Myth Drannor? I am confused, as the title of neither is in plural, so I have to assume that you are referring to both. In which case I'll have to call "heretic". i bolded you the keyword i hope it clears the case No, it doesn't. PoR is actually old enough that a ~ DAO engine remake might be interesting. + I had the B/W mac version. -

No, you're perfectly right. But just walking up to a stranger in their working environment is generally not going to set you up as anything else than "a creep". So you have to strike the balance between being "different" and, well, "not scary"

Hah, last time I hit the gym was pretty painful. My face was all bruised up from hitting it pretty hard. 'suppose next time I'll use the frontdoor and actually work out As for lifting weights, you don't even need that. Situps, pushups, squats and other such fun calisthenics. But it all starts with eating healthy. Gym time won't be as good as it can be if your eating unhealthy and at messed up times. 3 meals a day of non sugary and non-fat concentrated substances is a good start (Oatmeal is KING), no need to be planning meals out and throwing in whey protean and other stuff like that unless you want to eventually look like a brickwall. I used whey protein quite successfully when working out during my last weight losing spree. Helps retain muscle mass, which helps you lose weight. And yeah, free weights is better, but for 5-6 exercices you need to be in better shape - to be able to actually do the "serious" ones. I'm not, so I'm at 10-12.

Not in Sweden, it doesnt. Sending unsolicited flowers or a gift of any kind to a girl you're not intimately familiar with, is not socially acceptable. Unless you're Alexander Skarsg

Yeah, assuming some pan-nordic similarities in women, the suggested strategies would almos definitely be considered "coming on too strong". And to women coming on too strong = desperation = game over. And the jewelry thing... way too much trouble for somebody who could just be a vicious shrew, Edit: Probably quoting the wrong post, or otherwise not connecting. I'm blaming my personal blood alcohol level.

Is it tied in at all with the main story? It's tied with Leliana's personal quest, personality and how she became a nun, but not with the Darkspawn in any way. WAT. Pc version was the real deal. Scrolling through all these items in inventory must be a pain with a gamepad. Not to mention in the PC version you also got the top-down view. Shrug, between the PC and PS3 versions, the only thing that was better on the console was the addition of the "garbage" item quality. You could flag stuff as garbage and then just dump it at the next store. I quite miss it now that I'm on the PC. But apart from that... I'm basically having less performance issues than I did on the PS3 (no frame skipping, a lot less slowdowns after extended sessions). Crashing a bit, apparently audio related and hoping it will get fixed in the new patch coming on monday and also having an annoying issue where graphics get corrupted when loading a new area. Alt-tabbing back and forth generally fixes that, but still rather immersion breaking. The better party control you get on the PC (especially through the isometric view) makes some fights (the two best examples I can think of are the Spirit Apparatus and Branka) a breeze, while these represent huge difficulty bumps on the console side. Soo, score PC 1000, PS3 1.

Become a regular, after they've seen your face for a while (=are more comfortable with you) try to build attraction by being funny/memorable/slighly ****y, but don't try too hard. If they play along, eventually ask for FB profile or equivalent and take the more overt flirting off-premises. It doesn't have to be magic (certainly not among the aloof Finns), just a little banter on something really basic like the weather, if you can't think of anything more appropriate to the situaiton... The partially sensored word is a synonym for rooster. That filter really needs some tweaking, guys. I hear some people can manage to basically score digits off grocery store girls and bartenders at first sight, but for the rest of us, it calls for a somewhat longer term plan. Has worked for me, on several occasions.

There's a lot of really neat small things in that mini campaign. I really REALLY like it, but I guess not everybody would.
