  1. Screw it, I'm leaving everything and moving to Portugal. You don't have bimbos in Finland? Yes, but they've all already abused me. I need to find new women to treat me like ****.
  2. I have a REALLY hard time swallowing any comparison that claims amphetamines are "less harmful" than alcohol (amphetamines being the drug-of-choice to the local losers and having witnessed a bad trip or few coupled with a few takedowns that involved a lot more OC than you'd think anything short of a rabid bear would need). I'm assuming this is strictly based on some kind of long-term effect on user calculation? (not really to your quote, but the data you posted above).
  3. So, why dont you go ahead and crack a window? Because Finnish apartments have tiny windows, so the air intake is going to be minimal (I assume, I think my 'mano there is also my compatriot). In my case complicated by the fact that I decided to save money by renting a ground floor apartment, so I now have to keep my home entertainment system concealed from the speed freaks that apparently live right outside my window.

  5. It's like I'm surrounded by puss... cats.
  6. Shh, don't mess up a perfectly good lynching with facts! (Oops, double post. My bad.)
  7. The Spy Drone/Aggressive Defense System discussion has been going on since the game came out. Everybody agrees one of them is useless. They just disagree which one. I prefer ADS, I get to sneak around enough in real life.
  8. I think they are wrong, but so are you. In fact, I'd go as far as call bs on your criticism. IMHO Bio and Obsidian are the two best (W)RPG makers in the world. Trying to pit them against each other is asinine, there's plenty of cake to be shared between the two.* Now if somebody wants to take a swipe at Bethesda, I'm all for it. *even if it's a lie.
  9. I think it's more a question of building culture. As Meshugger said, all buildings here are built to retain maximum heat, so my apartment is really warm at the moment. (It's also uncharacteristically moist with the heat, mostly when it starts raining temperature tends to plummet immediately. Not so at the moment.) I have AC at work, and am used to even higher temperatures, so I'm quite happy.
  10. I think he only mentioned Uruguay when there was the "assisted dive" in the penalty box. Of course, Robben (iirc) had an even clearer dive a few minutes later and he didn't say anything for 20 seconds, and then carried on from what was going on. It was like he and the studio commentators (who IMHO have been admirably impartial and good) were talking about a different match. Finnish commentators traditionally have had a boner for French and Dutch teams (Dutch mostly due to Litmanen being there for the best part of his career, I think), with a somewhat worshipful attitude for the other "big" countries (Brazil, Argentine, Germany, Spain). Anti-Italian, and just ignoring the rest. Honestly, they've been getting better about it, and this guy Ennekari is the only one I've picked up having clear favourites in these games.
  11. Let me reply with the "stock answer", Spycraft 2.0. Or wait a year for the streamlined 3.0.
  12. I wound up supporting Uruguay mostly because the (Finnish) commentator was laughably pro-Dutch. I swear, he must have had his house on them to win.
  13. So many good ideas there... that I'd be all over day 1. Sigh.
  14. POR2 had another nasty bug in the installer (IIRC It can reformat your C drive if you uninstall without patching). The mac version of Baldur's Gate I had a similar bug. Sad, really, but the different publisher for BG2 really was a different story, they fixed some bugs that were still in the final PC version.
  15. It's kind of like if I said that all americans are communists based on the fact that there used to be a communist party in Honduras.
  16. Yeah, when you foul somebody and the other team gets a free kick because of you breaking the rules, YOU ARE A LOUSY CHEATER!!!!1111 Come on, I don't think the guy's a hero and he seems to be on an ego trip, but his foul, considering the stakes, was no more cheating than the abovementioned free kick situation.
  17. I agree. "Cheating"'s been pervasive in these games, but I don't think this was an example of it. Definitely not in the same league as faking a red card to the other team. Actually, the Puma USP shirts from a couple of years ago are the best workout shirts I've ever owned!
  18. After all, one loonie in one European country represents all Europeans. You have a real future in writing headlines.
  19. The 320M should be, provided you don't have the Apple version, about equal to the 9600M. You should be able to play KotOR II without too much trouble. It's the new "kustom" Apple version. I have no idea what it compares to, but I do have a PC version of ME2 lying around for basic benchmarking. For the use I bought this thing, even kotor2 is already something (especially if the HDMI out performs multichannel audio as it should)
  20. Got the new computer, but can't really think of anything I'd actually want to put on it. Maybe try KOTOR2 restoration when I get windows installed, but I guess I'm in for a world of hurt with the nvidia 320m.
  21. You must have played a different game from the reviewers and myself. In comparison to RtCW, I don't think there was a single non-graphical improvement in the game. Actually, I must correct myself. Wolfenstein had the best opening trailers I've ever seen in a game (great audio on 'em) and the gravity fx were kind of neat. As a game, it still blew. RtCW is one of the handful of games I basically always keep installed on any computers I own (along with BG2, Deus Ex and usually with Red Alert 2 and Dawn of War)

  23. True, but honestly, 25c is still fine, unless you work outside in manual labor or something. Ok, I got AC at work so I spend most of my time in a rather nicely chilled environment, but 25c is nowhere near to being too much. I'd say that 30 in the nordic countries is hitting too much, 37 in mediterranean countries where heat is expected (when ambient temperature exceed body temperature, things get kind of poopy fast.) Interestingly, when it gets cold a similar 10 degree difference seems to exist. Close to 0c in Athens always felt at least as bad as -10c in Helsinki, if not worse.
  24. Might have to with acoustics. I'm having the exact same setup I used to have in my new apartment, and there's absolutely no impact in bass. Sometimes it just works out that way. 5.0 setup here. Need a sub, as a decent sub would be at least in the same 1,5k euro ballpark my tv and amp were, I'm currently restrained by my grad student budget from obliging my desires.
