Apart from lack of memory leaks, how was the console version superior? What lack of memory leaks? They were certainly there on the PS3 version, along with the skip a frame or two every few seconds issue specific to that platform. So yeah, it's kind of like this: DAO PC version Huge void of emptiness Some more empty space NWN OC DAO console versions

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a certifiable masochist. Also playing Dragon Age, spent last evening reinstalling it after EA's online authentication service crapped on me, I'm really regretting not paying 3x the price for the Steam version. Also at Orzammar, but doing it in bits between other quests, as usual.

No, I didn't talk about cheapness of living in Finland. Actually prices in greater Helsinki area are out of control and out of reach for the common workforce. I mean we have high taxes, expensive food, low wages. Thus it's cheaper to develop something in Finland then in UK. We have codeslaves, they don't And don't get me started on the cost of housing, I could get a nice view to the Thames on the Docklands for what they ask of some old duplex with a bunch of renovations on the way.

You should never sleep with your flatmate, it always makes for a bad situation. Given the choice between sleeping with somebody and not sleeping with somebody, it's always better to live with the consequences of having slept with them. Ok, I missed a threesome last weekend, so I might not be the most reliable judge in this situation.

I know I should. I also should have given this thing a lot more thought before I started gobbing off.

Hold up. I think its pretty well established that poop rolls downhill and that most pedos are themselves prior victims of a pedo. Why no love for them then? AFAIK, very few are "born pedos". I'd go with the "get help" line here.
-
It doesn't. But it makes me feel sorry for the guy, unlike for basically every other pedo who deserve everything they get, and generally then some.

I disagree, I think Leliana's Song is light years above Darkspawn Chronicles, for the same reasons.

Doublepost! That's a first!

And most rapists don't have the excuse of having had their near full-term pregnant wife brutally (and I mean BRUTALLY) murdered by the Manson family. Of course, I would have probably killed myself instead of starting to bang kids, but, yeah.

There's no answer for that. It all depends on location and job position. For example it's really pricey to live in California area, less in Texas, still less in UK, even less in Finland (Max Payne, Alan Wake developers Remedy or Flatout developer Bugbear) and still less in Poland (The Witcher developers CDproject). Entry level programmer can barely pay his rent and buy food while Lead Progammer get big bucks. For example the salaries in Nightshapes linked list are way too high. If entry level progammer would ask 50k here in Finland, he'd end up with the permanent smile on his face in the nearest river. I'm going to challenge the cheapness of living in Finland. Wages are probably smaller than in the UK, but it's more related to the traditionally poor wages of the educated workforce than it being comparably cheaper.

Nope, just find it funny how they made these big talks how they got 2 years worth of expansions and dlcs planned out and then they release 1 expansion and 5? really short dlcs for the game before announcing that the sequel is coming out in like 6-8 months. They even had that release date printed and shipped out with Awakenings, which makes it sound like they scrapped their plans really early on. Unless for some bizarre reason they will still continue making expansions and dlc for DAO even after DA2 comes out. NWN was also going to have tons of free modules and work associated with it. That didn't end up happening either. There are still more DLC in the pipe for DAO though aren't there? I don't play DLC so I don't really know. Just what I heard. The whole DAO DLC thing has seemed really haphazard and uncontrolled- it's like absolutely no planning had taken place beforehand. DAA has so many critical bugs and issues (still unfixed, but with a patch in approval ATM) it's downright worrying. The ME2 DLC is somewhat better, with apparently at least some kind of strategic plan in place, but the DAO DLC is not showing any signs of it. More like they are airing their proof-of-concepts to the people (DAA is promising in a "more interesting campaign with actual villains and better level design" way, and Leliana's Song is pretty interesting in the "more cinematic" way).

Bioware becomes kids friendly? Uh, more like that the biggest potential for growth isn't on the consoles. But hey, after a few rounds of quoting before it gets here, no wonder it's going to look sensational. -
I'm probably alone, but am willing to cut Polanski a lot of slack. Anyone would be pretty ****ed up by what happened to him (or his wife, to be specific) and he was never proven guilty (he plea bargained to some bs charge, but the judge bypassed the bargain part and stuck with the plea). So there's some "variables" in this case that make even an ex-prosecutor like me kind of uneasy about the whole thing.

That's really rare in Finland, but not unheard of elsewhere. I was also in Oulu for a gig on saturday, and it felt a lot cooler than central Helsinki. I'm currently spending my time either cooped up at my air conditioned office or on the sofa, playing Dragon Age
-
Yeah, the DAO 2 setup is basically no different than having "one" origin - I'm currently replaying DAO (well, first time on pc after that festering turd of a PS3 port, so it's more like really playing it for the first time) and "Cousland" tends to come up quite often in the dialogue at these early parts (got to Ostagar before my festival trip). I was really happy with the new Leliana DLC, so if it's some sort of "test" as they tend to be, I'm pretty optimistic. I'm just hoping they keep the system requirements manageable so I can play DAO2 on my toy computer, instead of having to go with a console again.

I actually just picked up the PC version of DAO yesterday (in fact, EA support gave me the barebones version of it for free as compensation for a mess-up, but I digress) and the first look at the "proper" baldur's gatesque perspective had me all misty-eyed. Text is a bit hard to read at a slight distance on a 40" tv, even at 720p, but I guess I'll just have to squint. Rather that, than suffer the frame-skipping kotorised PS3 version for a second longer. -
Room acoustics are definitely a big factor. Settings too, of course. But I'm also talking about the sound systems in theaters. Which again, isn't to say it always sounds bad...it's just completely different. The bass is loud, but it does not 'thump' deeply in the same way. Also, my ears are very sensitive to treble/high pitch and since somewhere in the early-mid-90's many theaters now seem to have it set to a point where it feels like I have broken glass bouncing on my eardrums. I remember seeing Phantom of the Opera in a major Helsinki movie theatre. It sounded terrible, movie theatres are equipped with ski-slope bass-heavy EQ curves to 'SPLOSIONS BIGGER, which result in music-heavy presentations sounding distorted. Of course, the Phantom soundtrack isn't exactly easy, along with the nuclear blast in Terminator 2, it's one of the two soundtracks I managed to overload my old system with.

Same, 'cept some are further away than that. It's also good for chatting up ladies, if you're in a hurry when you meet them and don't have the time to build the necessary comfort etc. for getting the digits ("You got facebook? We'll talk!".)

Uh, wasn't it basically already confirmed earlier this year in a financial conference call? "New Dragon Age came early 2011"? Now the announcement is that it's, shock and awe, going to be called Dragon Age 2? Shadows of Orlais? The Throne of the Maker? -
Yes, they do. Need the cable service provider's card for it, at least in Helsinki. (Not sure if they want conax pairing and all that stuff, I had to do it for Eurosport and Canal HD channels).

I think he only mentioned Uruguay when there was the "assisted dive" in the penalty box. Of course, Robben (iirc) had an even clearer dive a few minutes later and he didn't say anything for 20 seconds, and then carried on from what was going on. He did? I've must've missed that In any case, i am going to watch tonight's game on the swedish channel (SVT 1 or 2) instead. Atleast the commentator is going to give neither team any praise since Sweden is not playing in this tournament Mmh, I wanted to try out the Swedish feed on YLE, but turns out they only have it on the SD broadcast, and not the HD one. Football being one of the best reasons for HDTV, I chose to listen to the cheerleader and watch the better picture.

I'm not saying speed made those guys losers, I'm saying it's the drug of choice for "antisocial elements" around here. I have no idea what it is (it's always just "amphetamines" after the blood test, anyway, or MDPV for the past ~6 months), and I doubt the users do, either. All I'm saying is that on that scale, and in my experiences, speed did have a relatively high correlation with violent crime. As in, from personal experience, I'll be a lot more wary with people who do speed than those who drink But I guess so does alcohol, and pretty much any substance (including dog poo) can be abused in some manner. 'shrug* Edit: my thoughts made more sense before I started editing the post initially. But I guess I don't really have a particularly strong attitude towards weed, at any rate, I'm just doing some fairly heavy eyebrow raising at the "scale". While I've had cases of people being killed over cigarettes, it always seemed less directly related to the substance than, say, speed freaks psyching out and stabbing random old ladies on the street.
