  1. I wouldn't dream of playing bg1 without someone who can cast fireball.
  2. Either that, or a major chunk of the DA team has been chipping in on The Old Republic.
  3. I think that smattering of hobbies makes him more normal than most of us here....
  4. I dunno, since they started as a PS3 exclusive (IIRC), we might actually see something Uncharted II level. I can't call that ****, but then again, my PC is old anc cheap enough to rarely deliver visuals that significantly improve on the console versions.
  5. Concur. Even the time-jumping narrative seems like a pretty blatant excuse to recycle the same main areas three times. I have a hard time believing that the recycling is the cause of the complaints, it's just an easy thing to fixate on.
  6. ****ing miserable abortion of a week. Glad it's over. Tempted to go buy a bottle of single malt and a cigar and destroy those both by myself.
  7. I've also got the nagging feeling that the need (or urge ) to cram the game on a single x360 disc was another major reason for the heavy recycling of graphical assets. Not sure if it had a practical impact, or they could have done BG2 level audio compression on VO to free up more space etc.
  8. Meanwhile, in the real world, my date (after rescheduling me last week) no-showed today. Yeah, the old skank divining rod is still working full-tilt.
  9. I've always found it kind of curious that Laidlaw is the mouthpiece for DA, and not the Project Director (as is on the ME side, where Casey Hudson does all the talking and Preston Watamaniuk is basically not there). I couldn't even say off the top of my head who's the DA project director...
  10. Well, see, he's a capable writer and designer. Your point again? His point is, again, that he has supa sekret info he will reference, but not share with "non-industry professionals"
  11. They specifically addressed the issue in ME2. FWIW, it's not just the ****ty console ports that do it, it's horrible in the original xpox versio as well.
  12. Apparently they had flagged the Awakening/DLC import bugs as non-issues, and only upgraded them in the priority list yesterday. Well, at least there's that fan fix for most of them. Looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer for my next playthrough...
  13. Hmm, looks like I might be dusting off FONV when the patch hits. Mebbe grab the DLC, too...
  14. All evidence points to the bride simply being amazing in bed.
  15. I don't know if it will lessen the sting but you can watch this for a different perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWkZ_StRjU0 Well, the sting was two months ago, now it's more like a dull ache. And yes, that did help considerably.
  16. Congrats anyway, Migranes. I hope doing a PhD (or LL.D.) won't turn out to be the biggest mistake in YOUR life. Sure has felt that way for a while. Yeah, several times a week. I'm bipolar that way.
  17. The impact of overlord is a lot less certain than Arrival, anyway. For one, there are no Reapers in it.
  18. Wait until you see them with a pair of kids playing. That just really cuts into you. So for the platitude.. Enjoy the fact it's not that bad yet. I've got this nagging fear that I'm going to overcompensate by having a half-dozen kids with the next bitch I run into, just to one-up them. (yeah, misogynist day.)
  19. Being pregnant agrees with the ex. Not being the one who impregnated her disagrees with me.
  20. The Game Informer article confirms that you will see the motion comic even if you import, in which case it will recap what happened. Apparently it'll prompt you if there is a decision that you don't have in your saves, so those without DLC will be brought up to speed on Arrival and Overlord, at least. Conjecture, but it might allow people to import unfinished saves as well (knowing how common that stuff is), and allow them to fill in the blanks? I think DA2 had something like that, where the game autocompleted your playthrough by grabbing some default decisions based on what you'd done so far in your save.
  21. *Perks up* Considering that font illegibility (and an unwillingness/inability to spend 2-3 weeks gaming, straight) has been my main issue with the infinity engine games, it looks like the first problem has been modded away while I haven't been paying attention. Still, I'll probably go with BG2 first, when I have the time for some really involved gaming.
  22. Apart from the fact that absolute sales numbers are basically for (internet) muscle-flexing only. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost/return ratio for DA2 was significantly higher even with considerably lower numbers of product sold, just due to the fact that DAO had been in production for, what 5-8 years, while DA2 had a full crew on it for ~a year, year and a half depending on what they did while the console ports were underway. And what does all this mean for us, the non-bean counters. **** all.
  23. I went to a house warming party last night and wound up playing chess with a hot 6'1" blonde nurse. Unfortunately I had to split due to work commitments before we could change the rules to strip chess. Might need to look her up later, though.
  24. ... I'm pretty sure that generally reports of numbers are "x shipped", but I've never seen "x sold" mean anything else than "x sold". Because that would be kind of serious case of misleading by a listed company. I mean, the two can get confused when laymen come here with their numbers, but if the company is saying "x sold", then it sure as hell should be "x sold"!
