I've been there. It's a fitting comparison, with the remains of the greeks and romans littering both.

Ravens are also running a jersey exchange campaign. Talk about damnatio memoriae.

Rampant organized crime in the south hasn't helped things move along. That said, poverty has never been one of the things that jumps on my face in Italy, certainly not over the palaces, clothes and women

So, Apple announced their watch-type product today. I can almost hear the thousands of smug Swiss watchmakers going "Nah, our market share won't be impacted", just like the cellphone makers and portable audio device makers did, back in the day...

The GREATEST murder mystery finally solved, who was Jack the Ripper
Nepenthe replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
To be fair, we don't know who's shawl it was. It could have been Eddowes, it could have been someone who found the body, it could have been the killer. Kominski might have been a john, but he also was a public self-abuser so its entirely possible there is a secondary way to get his **** on the shawl at that. Could someone at least finish that thought before typing it. It makes no more sense from the repetition. -
Also, wow, the Lions really are Saints North. Happy day, they've been my backup team due to Michigan family connections before, too

I doubt the suspension has no practical importance for his ability to find employment, as the video will be brought up every time Rice tries to sign somewhere. A guy from the Ravens camp (their radio play-by-play commentator) described the situation as a "career-ending injury" (the injury to his wife ending his career), which I thought was hilariously astute but nobody else seemed to pick up on. Now, looking at Rice's contract details, he has a 15 mil signing bonus spread over 5 years, which seems to be also the sum of his guaranteed money. I have no idea if the suspension has a further impact on the Ravens ability to recover the 9 mil dead money they have in some way. Edit: My bad, looks like he has a 7 mil option bonus from last year spread over the rest of the contract and 3 mil per year guaranteed _in addition_ to the signing bonus. So looks like it could be a total of 25 mil on the table here? That was the early spin from the Ravens camp spread via the NFL Network yesterday afternoon.

Sure, but the fact of the matter is that there are (afaik) no unidentified traces on the shawl, and the only obtained sample matches a relative of a suspect. So unless there's something murky with the relative etc. We'll see. You have to follow scientific methodologies to be scientifically valid. It's not merely peer review, you should also get results confirmed independently, which clearly hasn't happened. Might be a question of putting 'yet' on the end of that sentence but there are more than a few ways to get bad results (entirely honestly) when doing things by yourself. Yep, agree. -
I find his detachment, apparent in the video, to be the more disturbing aspect. Mostly agree with you, it's not a question if what you do, but what you get filmed doing...

Ray Rice has been cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the league in response to new video material of the previous domestic violence case...

Again, when there is just one identifiable sample and it belongs to a suspect, it's a completely different scenario. If there were mutiple unidentifieds, then it would be a more likely scenario that there were traces if her, ahem, customers on it. The first test of something they thought was there on the shawl ended up being "inconclusive" and for this new test the methodology of the recovery/identification hasn't been "peer reviewed" prior to being touted as an answer in the popular press (if that's important to you). Sure, but the fact of the matter is that there are (afaik) no unidentified traces on the shawl, and the only obtained sample matches a relative of a suspect. So unless there's something murky with the relative etc. We'll see. I've been peer reviewed, it did not improve the result in any way. -

Yes, but highly unlikely, as there were no other unidentified samples on it. In fact, if there was a chain of custody for the item, I'd feel very comfortable prosecuting the case -

They don't and the provenance is suspect, but barring fraud, finding dna of a major suspect in an item that supposedly belonged to one of the victims is about as close to "solved" as you are likely to get... This has been picked up by Serious Media here, as well, due to the nationality of the scientist who did the dna recovery and testing... -
S'yeah, both defences barely showed up for NO-ATL. Lots of good on the offense, all of our RBs really showed up in strength and excelled at their individual specialties. Brandin Cooks was also pretty awesome and the O was mostly downright surgical. Apart from that red zone pick, which looked like me in Madden. This is the only thing I've seen from the other NFCS game so far: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/0ap3000000391011/Wk-1-Can-t-Miss-Play-McCown-s-double-trouble but I already feel for ya, Guard dog, brah. Also, sports broadcasts have reached the point where I need a bigger tv.

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Nepenthe replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
We both know it's because of the "romance" angle -- What if there hypothetically weren't any romances? If there weren't any romances I wouldn't care. The game would probably be better since they could focus their writing on stuff that actually matter and not pointless harem romances that are even worse than some of the worst romance anime out there. You wouldn't care that there were characters you might not find a frictional attractions towards? Specify. All games won't adhere to every individual's personal appeal -- My comment is merely question as to why attractive characters are a big factor for you. Hehe, "frictional attraction"- 256 replies

Good luck. I thought I was smart when I did the research stuff pretty much in a straight line after my initial degree. Now I wake up at night screaming from the thought that I might wind up working somewhere where they want me to go back again for an mba or something. The bar exam's already kicking my ass, I'm almost literally unable to open a book at the moment when the word "study" is involved. :D

Cowgirls figured they'll make many times his salary from all the sjw jersey buyers... Seriously, though, the best thing about Sam is that he's black, so we don't have to go through "the first gay minority player" sideshow in a year or two.
