Here, my final batch of shots:
-
I saw a comparison once between DA:O cutscenes and LotR scenes, there were 1:1 matching scenes IIRC.
-
Can't say anything about PvP, only tried PvE. 2,5 days wouldn't have been enough to get a serious grasp on balance and everything, especially since it's a beta. Since you have to face your opponent to actually hit them with most attacks and PCs are quite mobile, it would require quite a bit of skill. You can't import your character, but you can get rewards for stuff you did in the first game. http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome You have to own Eye of the North though.

I told you the greatswords suck.

They actually made a point out of making metal look like metal and armor dyes reflect the material too to some degree. Haven't played with those yet, but there's all kind.http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye

Wednesday should be okay.

You can, it's just set in the config tools, launched separately. >.>

I tried the necromancer briefly, it's a good class. Minion masters aren't as spammy as in 1, but they still have their diverse builds. Just like all the classes. Unique, varied builds. Not just tanks, DPSs and healers

Oh, I like the look of Star Wars, as you said, it is unique. Problem is, every era of SW looks exactly the same. Storm troopers? All the same. Capital ships? Star destroyers, all of them. I brought up the blandness of TOR because it's made by people who copy/paste the same 'ancient evil is back, go three places, smash them' story since 2002, set in a universe that is the most persistent ever, because everything is either made by fans who are so hardcore that they feel the urge to stuff everything full with references and creae whole games as memorials to the original trilogy, or by George Lucas. Lucas is the only one who makes any actual changes in the setting. Too bad all he's doing is trying to retcon details. And to top it all off, the game is based entirely on WoW. Fetch quests, raiding (by which I mean begging an hour for a healer/tank to show up), stand around hotkey spamming combat, classes that are differentiated by their damage:survivability ratio and wether they heal or not... and then you call GW2 bland? http://i.imgur.com/XaHac.jpg vs http://pctrs.network.hu/clubpicture/1/1/9/7/_/suzumiyaheadband_anime_1197738_5020.jpg Yep, totally anime. Want to borrow my glasses? Compare this to TOR's flat out cartoon look. GW2 isn't generic. It's a fantasy that's finally willing to look down to earth (except for the friggin' greatswords). Humans are humans, what do you expect them to look like? Gelatine? Sure, since you don't bother looking. As for why the game get's so much love: They pushed the verisimilitude of the world with the dynamic events, content that's actually fun; a story with choice and consequences; a character bio, like in DA:O; lot's of lore, developers who are not just passionate but obviously competent (well, most of them). Other people are actual help in this game, not just baggage you don't need. Modern combat mechanics instead of that outdated crap. Truly different classes. I don't see why it is so hard to see what's so good about GW2. The trailers, videos and blog posts are all there, for all to see.

Says the guy who played an SW MMO. Steampunk is mostly limited to charr and engineers. Don't see where you guys get your anime bs all the time. Everythings an anime to you.

Ooookay, now I can't log in. The story is pretty good too, btw. The first few personal story bits are kinda boring, but then it starts to kick in. The missions are more fun and you do more intriguing stuff. The writing isn't so narmy as the first game either.

It's called Dinary Bomain 2. Full of crazy jap ****.
-
The mechanics are vastly different.
-
I see some resemblance, but not that much.

No companions, but you can solo most things. I solod an even that was 4 levels higher, was easy as long as I was careful *cough* and no Veteran Aataxes spawned *cough*. On the other hand, there will be people in the area with you most of the time, but partying is not required. Other players' presence really is not a hindrance anymore. And yes, it was an invitational beta. Server issues weren't as big when I logged in (1,5 hours after the initial launch). After the initial horde of people got past the log in, things became smoother.

I may have said this a couple of times already, but the engineer is loads of fun. The pistols are AOE and the rifle is single target damage/distance creator. Tougher enemies require you to cycle between net shot and overcharged shot to keep them back while your turrets pound away at them. The turrets are a bit of a pain to use (have to pick them up when the area is clear) and I don't have the targeted turret deploying trait yet.

I was so sad when I saw a gameplay trailer of that game. Warlock was the name of a really fun WarCraft III mod, thought they made an indie game out of that. I've never played any of the Warcraft games, so I wouldn't know what they look like. The demo was fun though, if you are into turn based strategy games (with a slightly humorous touch). The Warlock mod was an arena style game where you bought spells for your warlock and had to defeat opponents by attrition or by knocking them out of the periodically shrinking arena. It's loads of fun. :D

Nope! You can solo most stuff, but people will likely be there, so impromptu groups are abundant. You don't have to form a party with them, but playing all alone isn't an option, discounting story instances.

Playing the GW2 beta. It's quite different, control wise. The first game used the mouse to control movement, this game has TPS controls. The way dodging is solved isn't the best (direction double tap), meaning you stop for a moment ...in a situation where you want to move extra fast. The world is quite full with NPCs and areas are huge, smaller outposts litter the world and there are events in sigh range from one another. Events can be a bit hectic, one starting as soon as the one before it ends, some are a bit too easy (one boss was already at half hp when I clicked on her when she spawned), others are just hard to target from the mob of players. Enemies can be tough, but most are easy to defeat if you don't forget to move. Graphics are very pretty, even when I turned everything on low or on off, sounds are good, some took a bit of time till I realized what they mean *cough* mail ping *cough*. Combat is loads of fun, even though I don't really have a lot of skills yet. Still at low level so I can't comment on the leveling system. Partying is a pain, the starting areas are cluttered so one of us always got shafted on an Overflow server. Granted, we could've joined the queue, but where's the fun in that, amirite? ;D Oh and Alt+Tab-ing doesn't cause animation errors, yay! Wanted to write down something else too, but forgot. Remembered: The 1st skill of your weapon skills is on auto cast, and I forgot how to turn it off, causing my character to shoot at guys using reflection skills. Not. Good. For. Your. Health. PS: I made an Engineer.
