im going to wait until i see at least one in depth review before buying, just to make sure it isnt total crap. my expectations are pretty high for this one though

i think a lot of the critics who gushed over oblivion simply hadn't seen such a game before, coming from a console background. oblivion had a lot of WOW factor if you only played it for about 10 hours. it was only after longer did so many of the hideous flaws become apparent (for many people)

i wish flashback was easier. i want to replay it but i remember that game being hard as hell.

DA 2 really is a miserable pile of secrets. all its base are belong to me. also, its a ninja that kidnapped the presidents daughter, luckily though, I'm a bad enough dude to stop it. thank you thank you I'll be here all night.

i love steam, the sales are out of this world. i don't buy actual expensive games on steam though, unless required to, because i like owning the actual discs. but if im paying $3-6 for a game, i dont mind if its digital, cause honestly thats about the price of a rental, so if steam ever pissed me off enough i could just ditch my collection of digital cheapies without much concern.

im going with: thing to do.

yeah thats true, maybe i should have switched action gamer with sane person, and rpg gamer with bethesda fanboy

im doing a new vegas dlc run, playing frozen synapse intermittently, and planning on returning to my chrono cross playthrough when i get back from evo. im also currently re-organizing my comic trade collection. I'm putting every single dc trade (that i own, roughly 60% of those published...) in order of continuity, starting from crisis on infinite earths in 1984, and going till 2008 (when i stopped buying trades cause i ran out of shelf space). it is... a big project. its also pretty nuts going through them all and realizing that now the universe is ending and a new one is beginning, i have the majority of a 20+ year story, with a beginning, middle, and end.

2 hours for a $10 dlc is not so good, i think it took me about 10-12 hours to go through honest hearts. even the shadowbroker dlc was more like 5-6 hours wasn't it?

well this is a thought on one way speech learn by doing could work: action gamer has no interest in dialogue, he quickly accepts the quest and moves on, doesn't click through every piece of information the quest giver had to offer, doesn't ask quest giver about his/her life etc etc. action gamer only gets a couple xp towards raising his speech skill. action gamer doesnt have high enough speech to access other options. rpg gamer loves dialogue, he accepts the quest from quest giver, but only after exhausting every single line of dialogue the quest giver had. rpg gamer gains a bunch of xp towards raising his speech skill. rpg gamer having done this several times, has levelled up his speech skill quite a bit, and on completing the quest a line of dialogue is now available to him to get a better reward for the quest, because of how high his speech skill was.

ahhhhh it looks awesome. im not going to get too excited, but having spent much of the weekend playing frozen synapse, i see a lot of potential in this. i haven't played any games by kalypso, but they seem to have the chops to make this at least decent

a ME/WH40k crossover would be insanely fun/funny. i vote yes.
-
it's more subtle, more "keen", if you must. I can't agree it was "funny-er", different kinds of funny i agree with the more subtle and keen humor, which is more my style, which is why i find it funnier. a lot of the jokes in fallout 2 were too obvious, and thus, less funny. (to me)

i played fallout 1 first. it instantly became my favorite game. then i played fallout 2 and loved it (even declaring it better at the time, mostly because it offered MOAR!!), still, all my fondest memories of the original games actually are moments from fallout 1. So now i say i like them both a lot, for slightly different reasons. and yes the tone did change for fallout 2. and yes fallout 1 is funny. (actually funnier than fallout 2 imo) and yes, if you can't see anything humorous about fallout 1 then your taste in humor is so different than mine that i won't bother discussing it with you, we're just too different.

i love playing dos games on steam, just click and it works! like mother f*n magic. i wish dos games had been that easy to use back during the dos days... i remember it always took 3-4 hours of mucking with dos before i could get my games running right (could be because i was only 9 and dos was maybe a little over my head though)

at this point im mostly just waiting on system shock and then most of my old games i have been itching for will be in my itchy hands.

oh my god i think i laughed so hard i might have broken off some chunks of my lung. i can feel something floating around in there. something is definitely wrong.

fallout 1 was very funny. anyone who says otherwise has either A) no sense of humor or B) not actually played fallout you get a dog named dogmeat, there are robots with big exposed brains in cases toting shotguns, you get sent to a place called the glow and when you survive the guards are completely dumbfounded, there are SUPER MUTANTS in the game (merely the name alone is funny), there is a creature called a deathclaw, the goddamn opening of the game is set to "maybe" by the ink spots and features 50's style ads and propaganda before panning out to a wasteland. never before has an opening for a game so clearly and definitively set such a brilliantly dark-humored game world up for you. i could go on and on about why fallout 1 is both serious, and funny, and dark, and lighthearted, but i won't because i already sound crazy as it is.

can someone explain to me just what in the hell is going on in this thread. first we have someone speaking what appears to be complete gibberish, and then he says he is going to put a jello picture in fallout? what? no seriously what? put it in fallout? what does it do? why does it do what it does? what is it? WHAT AM I LOOKING AT ! ?

dishonored looks pretty cool, a little half life 2, a little 1920's. i dont think the art alone is enough to get me to buy it, but good art/design can make a great game greater.

Awesome/interesting games no one has heard of
entrerix replied to Purkake's topic in Computer and Console
Ironically nobody realizes that they stole the stories concept from Glenn Cooks "The Black Company". http://myth.bungie.org/legends/relics/blackcompany.htm http://blackco.tripod.com/myth-n-bc.html i think everyone knows about The Black Company too. doesnt make myth any less awesome though! -
my mind has been wandering like crazy. now im playing mass effect and chrono cross, both games i've played multiple times. still need to play frozen synapse and two worlds 2 and shogun
-
top 10 what? bioware games? i have a hard time not putting everything they made in my top 10 bioware games, because they've made about 10 games. if we're talking overall games... then yeah DA2 wouldn't even make my top 50.

they don't make em like they used to /end old man ranting

damn steam sale ruining/improving my life. my summer game itinerary: chrono cross classic fps games two worlds 2 shogun frozen synapse worms!
