^ It was just lazy writing by Bioware. I liked the idea that how you conduct yourself in order to achieve your aim is flexible (bastard warden / good warden) but, still, it's lazy. As Nonek said, the rail-roading into the Grey Wardens was clumsy and unconvincing. An old-fashioned Geas would even have been more palatable / convincing. And if you can't be arsed to set up your plot with any real effort, why on earth should we believe the rest of the plot will be any more credible? (answer - it isn't). No, Bioware dumped all the effort into the crapulous romances instead. And therein lies the rub - their fans are more interested with dating-sims than they are in credible story and plot. Ergo my reservations about romances in CRPGs. I'm not being remotely facetious when I say Bio should make the romance-centric CRPG Bruce suggests. Not only would it sell like hotcakes, it would also pin Bio's writers under a block of ice in the lowest circle of hell, doomed to crapping out mawkish tosh for eternity.

Haven't got a clue what I'm doing in Titanfall but it's good fun. Crisp, great to look at, lots of mayhem.
-
I'll keep an eye open. But I accuse! I accuse the MMO-makers of the world of letting us down.
-
Waiting for Titanfall to release, I played the X-Com demo. There goes the next six months of my life.

I'm not a PS:T fan but I liked the character of Ravel and her story. But it wasn't a Romance. It was a romance. As you say, what constitutes Romance in games is now fixed, not least because it's commercially successful. Ironically, it might fall to other game genres to develop human relationships in a more credible way - although I've not played The Last of Us, is there not a father / daughter analogue in there (I'm immediately reminded of The Road). And the bromance between male FPS characters might end up being more realistic than the frenzied fan service and diaper sex of Bioware. As you say, Ha! Good Fun!

Who would dream to rebuild A world, forgotten Throw a plea into the ether? They replied With gold, with silver and with bronze Hungry, and with faith And so the pillars were built Crafted by hands, trembling Ears shielded from the tumult Of gold, silver and bronze But they are remembered, here, souls all raucous Better than dust

^ It's interesting you say that. Hey, I hope TESO is a success and they do all the great content things they say they're gonna do with the money. The developers have gone ahead and said they ain't scared of making a game a lot of people won't want to play, but instead want to make a game the people who love their games will want to pay for. I dig that, and take Setzer's point. I just wonder if they are swimming against a (very) strong tide.

^ I think you've nailed it. MMO aren't designed to be played. They're designed to be... worked on. Mebbe there needs to be an MMO for people who don't really like MMOs. Must be a market out there for it.

^ I read a review where the guy hated FPS games and loved Titanfall. It's probably the only AAA title I'll pick up this year, if I get burnt I get burnt.

What outcry? There was some squealing from people that barely ran into double figures.

Hackmaster... now there's a RPG begging to be made into an indie CRPG.

http://www.pcgamer.com/uk/2014/03/12/diablo-3-reaper-of-souls-trailer-shows-the-might-of-the-crusader/ Hordes of Crusaders will dominate MP for the foreseeable future. The lolocopter magic-warhorse move is groovy.
-
It's a standard MMO move. $20 would be bold! Free-to-Play with DLC is the standard move, no?
-
$14.99 a month in the US. That's a bold move.

Objection!

^ I've already said I'd consider the new DA game if it was any good. I haven't bought much Bio stuff, that's true, in fact nothing inbetween NWN and DA:O

So voice actors are being discriminated against because they can't scale walls?
-
Yes, but I am rich.

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce... Well, I suppose one way to end a debate is to make something mandatory. It's also a way to stop people buying your product. Bruce you are as mad as a box of frogs. On LSD. So if I don't like mustard on my sandwich, my views on mustard would be void if all sandwiches came with mustard? Can't you see how delightfully deluded you are in your desperation? As ever, your arguments turn on compulsion, which is why you'd have made a great Khmer Rouge re-education officer. "They would have to do this. You'd get judged on it." In your dotty world-view everyone would love stuff if only they were MADE TO DO IT. No, we really don't. Huh? It might improve yours, Bruce. But you, as I have established beyond doubt, are mad. Please look again at my mustard analogy.

Am pre-loading Titanfall.
-
Yes, with diapers. After all they wear them on spaceships as well as in Ferelden.

^ Please bugger off Bruce.

I suppose I'm looking for the fun of co-op with the combat of RPGs. I like, for example, Diablo MP and RTS games like CoH.

Doesn't EVE require a spreadsheet and Ninja Excel skills?
