IGN Article about PoE.
Monte Carlo replied to GrayAngel's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
well in this case it wasn't and there's no need for tip-toeing. Sheesh. -
WTF is this Twitter thing of which you speak? Is it that limited word count app for morons?

The Lego Movie. Watched it with my son twice this week. The best film of 2014, bar none. We've been Lego crazy building stuff off the back of it. And doing Batman quotes. 9/10. Edit - how in the name of phuck did they line up all those IPs? I note some were missing (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones) and others had to be re-badged (Middle Zealand haw haw) but bejaysus all those other brands?

The glamour of 2D combat

Good question, but for me it's gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. I'm not saying graphics are unimportant, I'd be a hypocrite. But you can mitigate rough edges with awesome tactix. Look at ToEE, which has easily the most tactical and carefully implemented table-top combat. -
BG1 can be brutal. The ogre destroyed my first party quite easily. Of course, that's awesomely old-skool I hope PoE is like that. For the record, I avoided the ogre, got Jaheira, entangled it then shot it with a hasted archer. And about a dozen different ways with other methods and characters. This is also awesomely old-skool.

Ha ha ha. Bioware has the Vorpal Hype Cannon +5. Take everything they say with a big old pinch of salt.

Cool post OP. Games seem to reverse the dictum of story-telling, which is to grab people in five hundred words or get tossed on the slush pile. OK, there's apples and oranges but bejaysus the guy's correct when he mentions how dull the beginning of Fallout 2 was. And yeah, BG1 at least got you interested by folks trying to murder you then the high-power Sarevok ambush. BG2 - bit of a cliche, you're trapped with no memory, but the Irenicus torture chamber thing and simulacrum mystery was still better than turn-based bug hunting in a Very Brown Cave.

So Pillars of Eternity will be released later this year, and if you are in the Western hemisphere it will be winter. What ohmigoditsanewgame rituals do you have? I stopped having them some time ago, as very few games genuinely excite me upon release any more. PoE is an exception. So: * I'll take a day off * Open a bottle of claret * Re-start about fifteen times * Enjoy Not very unusual, admittedly, but I'm sure some people have some more interesting ways of celebrating the release of a much-anticipated game. Of course, I'd prefer a bevy of hot cosplayers in chainmail bikinis to visit my house and make out to celebrate, but Obisidian nowadays is too PC for that. Discuss.

^ No problem. Maybe it's because I'm not a FPS shooter player, as a rule. And when I do I jack a console controller into my puter.
