Excellent read on more progressive games

No, it's a pretty cogent POV. -
I'm a socially liberal quasi-libertarian pagan / lapsed Jew with a fundamentally Hobbesian perspective on international relations. I occasionally find anarcho-capitalism especially appealing. I hope that clears it up for you.

Rude, poorly written, shouty and full of straw-man arguments. D Minus. -
There are a load of different theories out there, from the sublime to the ridiculous. It's easy to view 1914 through a 1968 Woodstock-and-tye-dye teeshirt sort of perspective. I like Bester, I'm just sorry he bought the Noam Chomsky version.

Where you paying attention during your history class?

I thought they did romances just fine in Alpha Protocol, but it's always been convenient to just ignore that Never played any of the Mass Defects. All I know about them is that (a) lots of people didn't like the ending of one of them and (b) er, that's it.

It looks like a Stealth Bomber has landed on his head.

If Vince Vaughn tried to make a dark, forbidding movie, a piece of film noir, we'd probably laugh at him. If Obz tried to do a romance-laden game it would be similar but in reverse. Unless of course the romances were all bitter parodies leading to murder and insanity, which might work.

No I won't.

^ Serves you right for letting your guard down.

Don't want to be a pedant, but 'Pulp' is good. Pulp is Robert E. Howard. Pulp is Fritz Lieber. Bio has created a new flavour of lameness based on schmaltz, adolescent angst and hyper-sexualised fan-service. Whatever it is, it isn't pulp.

^ You have captured the very quintessence of the Steam Sale, my friend.
-
TBH I doubt it.
-
Ha ha ha my trigger finger has lingered over that one more than a few times. Have, so far, made epic WILL saves.
-
I'm finding this Steam sale strangely lacklustre.

I have so many horror stories of people in real life and online talking about how they are forced to buy all the different pre-order versions of the game in order to have the full thing, which doesn't even make sense because you can't combine them. It is in the nature of the beast that gamers include a large number of completists and OCD-like obsessives. We've all met them. DLC is simply a digital version of the PnP splat-book, revenue-candy aimed at the collector's weak spot. I agree with lobotomy42. I've lost count of the number of great games I've bought, bundled with every piece of DLC, for peanuts during a Steam sale. Good things come to those that wait.

Man, you must have a helluva video card to handle that sort of scale.

^ Helm of awesomeness. Like the architecture and general old-skooliness that oozes from the screenie. Is it Dark Souls 2?

Funnily, I find my very rare censorious streak hoving into view when it comes to GTA. I think it's a disgusting, morally contemptible and nasty little franchise. I can see why other folks love it, but personally it makes me feel a little queasy.

I loved the Nashkel Mines. Cramped corridors, traps, pesky fire arrow shooting kobolds, spiders. The first time I played it I died horribly. Then I began scouting with my thief very carefully, set up ambushes around tight corners for the kobolds, ran away when necessary. I thought it was great fun. I might be in Monte's give me more fighting in tunnels camp. One person's trash mob is my opportunity to try out new and interesting tunnel fighting techniques. I like trying out new class / party / NPC / Powaz combos without having to endlessly reload fights. Lots of combat, preferably but not exclusively, in tunnels, lets me do that. I like the Deep Roads in DA:O, for example. Solo'd them with a rogue, hosed them down with three mages and tried a rogue-heavy party. I know I'm in a minority, but hey vive la difference and all that.
