Ugh, so I'm nearly at the end of 24 season 1 and it gets harder and harder for me to keep watching. The story started to drag already after episode 10 and there had been 14 more ... Some of these story twists are tedious bloat and I really wouldn't mind seeing them cut out. Not sure if I will be able to watch more once I'm done with season 1.

Is Adventure Time a show for kids, or also something for the older generation? Everyone keeps talking about it, but I never felt the mood to check it out, because it looks like a kids show to me.

Jack's daughter feels to me like the absolut generic tv show chick from the early 2000s. She looks always perfect, always has the same drama face, her story arch... she is the same character as any other "I am the daughter of a tough guy" ... This is what makes that show feel old to me. In comparison, the daughter of Harry Bosch is a lot more likable to me. It's partly the same cliche, but at least she feels believable. Oh, while I'm at it... New Bosch season is out. Binged through it on Saturday. Nice, but now it's waiting tyme again until the final season next year.

I started watching 24 because it popped up on Amazon Prime and I had nothing better to see. Never watched it back in the days ... turns out it's actually not so bad.. in fact, it's quite captive. It still has bits of the old 90s feeling, where everything was kinda cheesy, but you also feel how it's not really *that* anymore. Like... a bit of a middle ground between the "old" and "modern" tv shows.

To be honest, one big part of why I lost interest in the game was due to the early access / beta phase. When I played the beta - despite the mentioned issues with the text from above - I really enjoyed it. And when I got this small ball with a hamster in it, THAT KEEPS FLOATING AROUND ME, I totally lost it. So then the beta chapter ended and I had to stop playing. Then months later when the final version was released, I tried to pick it up again, but now suddenly the flow was gone. I had to force myself to keep going more than anything. Well, and then just as above, out of the blue I stopped booting up the game and lost even more motivation to continue with it. tl;dr - the early access / beta killed the game for me otherwise I very likely would have played through it fully. This was when I realized, that I will NOT do these kind of beta shenanigans ever again. It just sucks reaching the end while you really want to keep playing.

I still haven't continued with Picard. I feel like there's a lot better stuff that I can waste my time with. Such a disappointment.

The game is the perfect example that players didn't want "lots of text" .... they just wanted good text. I remember very well how we all back in the days were super hyped for "lots of text", because the original Planescape had "lots of text" as well. At least in the Fallout modding community, everyone wanted to make the next Planescape... and of course that meant lots of text (the mods all failed btw). It took me till Numenera to learn that it's really about the quality. I mean, Fallout 1 didn't have that much text either, but it feels great and to the point. Numenera however .... it's so convoluted and ugh. There's so much crap that could be cut and nothing of value would be lost. All these super detailed descriptive texts, etc... just pointless and annoying. After a couple dialogs you will automatically start skimming the text and then just outright skip the lines that aren't marked as essential. Pillars of Eternity did exactly the same mistake, PoE2 made it better... looks like Obsidian learned from it. Other than that, I actually really like the Numenera world and the ideas behind it.

What Are You Playing Now: The Other, Other Thread
Lexx replied to Amentep's topic in Computer and Console
Bannerlords is in early access on steam now. Not sure if I should risk another early access title or rather wait. -
PS: One thing I really loath in Picard's visuals is all the lense flares all the time ... like, man, can you tone it down a little bit?
-
Same here. I ain't gonna fall into the old pay tv trap.
-
Man, I can't even buy water anymore... all supermarkets are empty. Have never experienced anything like that ever before.
-
Wanted to buy food yesterday... impossible. Almost all shelves are empty. Had to buy some frozen pizza and instant noodles, because that still had some leftover...
-
Ah good old days. I remember when someone argued Half-Life is an RPG, because you play the role of Gordon Freeman.
-
Oh wow, I totally forgot about Picard. Haven't seen the last 3 or so episodes and I feel no motivation to get into it in the near future.

C&C Remastered can be pre-ordered now. It's on Origin and Steam. If you buy it on Steam, apparently you will not run the game additionally through Origin. Also map editor + Steam Workshop integration, etc. Only costs 20 bucks. Already bought it. /Edit: Oh, and there is no Denuvo copy protection.

Any info on if it will be tied to some ****ty launcher?

Well after the lame MW5, I'm sure they thought the franchise needs a short break. Can't say I wouldn't understand that.

Dishonored 2 has performance issues, though. The maps are so big and full with stuff that I am not surprised if even modern machines start to struggle at times. Death of the Outsider on the other hand should run much better again.

20 minutes of bla bla, so he's saying we think the Picard show sucks because it is different kind of left wing now or some garbage? I'm confused.
-
Yes, it's predictable on this level. I loath these always returning love triangles. It's like, as soon as one issue is solved, they introduce a new character to keep up a love triangle. For me this isn't producing an intense story, it's just making it very annoying.

You can kill them later in the game, but doing that is not a good idea at all.

So I watched season 1 of Sex Education and... I'm not sure what to think of it. On the one hand it has some interesting ideas and I kinda like the premise of the show. On the other hand I can't stop thinking that this was written by people who haven't had contact with young people for about 30 or so years. At one point it was mentioned that the characters are supposed to be ~16 years old and I was like "oh, now that explains some things" ... I mean, these "kids" act nothing like kids at all. If you would put an actual teenager next to them, it would look like they dressed up a monkey that can't stop drooling or something. While I was at it, I started guessing the actors ages like I did back in the days of Buffy and Co. You know, look at their skin, look at their posture, look at the hair and faces, how do they speak, etc. summarize everything together and you can guess their age pretty well. It's a fun little side game. Was pretty spot on most of the time, only with the male main character I failed ... thought he was something around 20, but he is actually 24. With his season 2 girlfriend I was wrong as well. Thought she was ~30, but she is 26. Oh well.

Just finished Altered Carbon s2. Have to say it's .... actually better than s1. Season 1 fell apart after 3/4 of its story, but season 2 stays on top till the very end. Not bad, certainly want to watch a season 3 now.
