What Are you Playing Now: Living the Good Life
Lexx replied to Amentep's topic in Computer and Console
So I picked up Assassins Creed Origins again, because I wanted to check out how they did their deserts and stuff. Played it for roughly 5 hours now. The game world really looks fantastic. They did an amazing job with it. But the gameplay is so god damn boring, oh god. -

It could have worked if they wouldn't have tried to make it a huge series, because obviously they weren't able to get a good amount of quality content together and instead just hamfisted whatever little bits they could get their hands on. Releasing new episodes took them them longer and longer, and the episodes just became more and more stupid up to the point where it felt like they misrepresented elements in games just to reinforce their agenda. IMO they should have just not tried to do it this big. Smaller in scope and a higher quality would probably have caused less rage. /Edit: It's been too long and I barely remember the details, but I wondered if they covered positive elements in games or if they were just crapping on everything? Tried to google it right now, but can't find anything related to that. /Edit2: Just checked into a few videos at random and skipped arond a bit. It's so preachy and condescending, ugh. No wonder there was so much road rage. Kinda happy this whole thing is pretty much over now and we don't have to read about it anymore every day. -

Yeah, she was riding pretty hard on how mean gamers are to her. -

I'm certainly not right leaning, but I also loath the whole Anita Sarkessiaan crap. Her videos were garbage, and this whole victim-game of her and others like her was infuriating. I'm not against feminism or similar things, like, at all, but what people like Anita Sarkessiaan did was just trying to weasel money out of other peoples pockets and riding the "look, I am so famous and they hate me for being different!"-wave. I'd say these people did more to hurt feminist movements with their crowbar- and victim-approach than gamers ever could. -
Well, that was mostly about Stardust Crusaders and less about the early stuff.

Jojo felt real weird to me at first, but I kept running with it, because it had such a weird atmosphere and style. Stardust Crusaders later lost me after a few episodes, because it's such a huge difference to "the original" show. After picking it up again some months later however it kinda clicked with me and I started to really like it. Have to see it like this: All the characters are absolute Chads, and they will always win. It's the *how* that it is all about, though. Also you just have to accept that it is quite wacky. Sucks that Netflix doesn't have the followup stuff (yet?). /Edit: oh wow, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan is on Netflix now, though. Gonna add that to my list right away.

Yeah that part felt quite rushed. Guess they just wanted to keep the story going and not spend much time on that element.

Yes I wouldn't say it is perfect, but it had so much stuff that overshadowed the bad, that I'd say it is certainly a watchable movie. Especially if one likes the old Eddie Murphy stuff. To be honest, to me it kinda feels like he is back now. Haven't seen a movie with / of him in probably 10 years, and now with Dolemite and this one, it's like a big return. Nice. And also to expand on it again: To me this feels like it does to african culture what Black Panther tried to do and failed. Like ... Black Panther is just the usual Marvel movie, but they mixed drums into the soundtrack and had everyone dress up funny. Then this stuff about them being a superior civilization, but they are choosing their next leader based on some stupid 1vs1 duel. lol. If this is the africa that africans want... I don't know what to say. Coming to America 2 on the other hand just took things as how they are and turned them a bit into a funnier light. Like this whole Wesley Snipes warlord stuff, which was totally overplayed, but at the same time is a very fitting african thing. There's more to this in my head, but I'm too much of a dum-dum to express them well at this point. However, the tl;dr is still that despite cliches and riding on nostalgia, this was a refreshing experience to me (on that note, I had to take a break in the middle of Black Panther and continued watching it the next day, because I couldn't bear it anymore). /Edit: Oh yeah, and Coming to America 2 didn't felt the need to include a token white guy either. At least I don't remember having seen one.
 -
Sounds like I should check out The Queen's Gambit after all.
 -
Just watched the King of Zamunda 2. Pretty good movie. Honestly a much better representation of african culture than the stupid Black Panther movie was. /Edit: I think the original title is Coming to America 2.

No idea. The only other dedicated anime site I'm using rarely (for Attack on Titan) was Anime on Demand. It has a really horrible interface. : >
 -
I'm not really interested in spending more money on another streaming service, though. So I'll just go with whatever I have available right now and hope that more interesting stuff comes later.
 -
Sadly it's not on Netflix nor Amazon prime. : >

Started watching Guilty Crown on Netflix. It wants to be some really deep anime, but it is such a sexist garbage that I can't take it serious. Made it to episode 8 or so and I think I'm done with it.

We basically got two rocket starts instead of one! Likely suffered some internal damage, because it was visibly not standing straight. I guess one of the (temporary) landing legs didn't made it and this caused damage to the tanks, which then leaked fuel down onto the engines. Boom.

	Yay, another superhero show. Yawn.
 -
They didn't bother to look. Is just the same as the RDR2 online mode ... they don't care. They gladly take your money, but that's it. Everything else is of no importance to R*.

I wouldn't call most of Bethshoft's quests captivating either ...
 -
I like Skyrim for what it is. I hate their take on Fallout. Morrowind is probably the best game they made. Yet it doesn't change the fact that their quest design is always shallow and mostly about having you trek over the whole worldmap time and time again while you experience their randomly slapped together theme park game worlds.

I mean, if Obsidian would do it, at least we would get a finished game. My only issue is that the last couple Obsidian games were all playing it super safe when it comes to quest complexity, to the point that everything feels predictable. So ... without having played a vampire game by Obsidian, I kinda already feel like I know how it would play. /Edit: I just saw the Bethsoft thing above and .... lolno. No. God... no. lol. No. Stop it. How the hell would Bethesda be a better choice for "complexity" when all Bethsoft games are known for being shallow as duck.
 -
"delayed indefinitely" wow, sounds like they are rewriting the whole game. At this point, why not just say it is cancelled.

Whole stock market is going kill right now. It's worse than last week. Will be interesting to see how far it can still sink. Luckily my money is in companies that will very likely go up again, but it's still a bit of an odd feeling.
 -
I mean, the Command&Conquer remaster was pretty great.
 -
The idea of Battlefield 1 is cool, imo. But the execution is ... meh. Biggest issue for me was the campaigns being too short and shallow.
 -
Oh ****, that D2 remaster doesn't even look bad. I'm inclined to jump right into it. D4 - don't care, tbh.
