The Weird, Random or Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread

Haven't updated Winamp since they added adverts years ago. -
Something changed?

You might not keep your job for super long if your productivity output isn't as high as that of these voluntarily working folks. :>

Star Citizen is actually very special. Even if the game fails, I'm pretty sure they will have no problem at all to sell their technology to someone else. The article is a tiny bit misleading. Yes, the alpha 3.3 did add face over IP and ships and stuff like that, but the main reason people are revisiting it right now is the new container streaming. Suddenly the game has *good fps* for the very first time in almost *all* situations. This is the first time, the game is *really* playable for a majority of players. This is a big thing, because if this tech is 100% completed (which it still isn't right now), they will have no problems with increasing the scope of the universe to whatever size they want. This is not a dream, you can actually see this ingame right now... and the fps won't tank like crazy. I know this doesn't sound like THAT much, as other games have world streaming as well, but no other game allows you to start on a space station, walk around that station, board a ship, fly around a planet that is bigger than any other game world (except Daggerfall), land on said planet, get a ground vehicle, drive anywhere on said huge planet, get back into a ship, fly to another planet 1 billion kilometers away and do exactly the same, all the while being able to meet other players at any time. Sure, in the end the game can still suck and be super boring, but the tech is very impressive.

That. You don't know a whole lot about TES lore, do you? Well, that was ages ago. The folks working on it back in the days aren't at Bethsoft anymore since before Oblivion happened.

26°C today. It'll be 20+ for the next week as well. Personally I don't mind it at all.. the only problem is the serious lack of any rain for months.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not even expecting anything like Fo1 or Fo2 anymore. And that's not really a problem. There's new games. New Vegas for example, is one of my all-time favs, ever. It's just such a good game all around, despite the plenty flaws. Bethesda Fallouts, however, even if you remove all the names from the lore, still would be crappy games for me. Their so much praised world design is just a theme park, their lore is all over the place for *anything*, the gameplay loop usually is just boring, they use level scaling to remove any kind of troubles you might get while "exploring", I have yet to see an rpg game from them in the past 10+ years that doesn't have a complete bs story, and retarded, oversimplified dialog. Eh, I could go on some more, but what's the point? Their games sell, always, which means people love this kinda crap.

Folks like to have someone or something to hate, might as well be the console you don't own for whatever reason.

It's Bethesda. Wouldn't be their Fallout game if they wouldn't ruin everything, no?

Watched Ant-Man and the Wasp yesterday. Was not bad, but not as good as the first one, imo. Also for being called "Ant-Man and the Wasp", I think there was not really enough Ant-Man and the Wasp in it. And I would have liked it to go out a little more with his security company pals. They really should get more attention, imo.

At this point, I'm pretty sure we've already discussed that Pillars is technically not owned by Obsidian, but another company run by the Obsidian founders. /edit: Found it. Dark Rock Industries is the owner. https://trademarks.justia.com/owners/dark-rock-industries-limited-3316531/

Well, I guess this is why PoE is not running under Obsidian, but that other company which name I forgot. So even if MS will buy Obsidian, that doesn't mean they will get Pillars.

I've learned that all we've seen in the presentation will be playable in 3.3 / 3.3.5 .. so apparently for the first time, what we've seen aren't just future dreams, it's actually very, very close. And if the new container streaming *really* works as they say and fps gets doubled... it might actually be very playable for the first time as well.

Maybe nobody takes male mages serious if they don't look the part.
-
Well, they could always just have a single line of dialog in the final game or something.
-
Total overkill and very unnecessary, imo. Do these people really add more to the game in the end? I'm in doubt.
-
Besides, there are still lots of places without a necessarily big internet connection.

I don't have any preferences. The current choice seems fine for me (purely based on looks).

Here is the new CitizenCon gameplay: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/320869726 And new Squadron 42 trailer:

Probably not, because Dead State didn't sell very well for as far as I am aware.

Is it just me or does the Yennefer actor look rather young? I always thought Yennefer had some sort of semi-milf-y touch.

You there, stop this hate speech.

I mean, maybe Obsidian will then finally have more money to make the games they really want to make... On the other hand, we know what happens to studios that are bought up.

I've tried playing DCS once, I even made a screenshot of it. Yes, this is the runway.
