  1. Wasteland 2 is already the best Fallout game to emerge since... well since. I liked it for that reason; but I actually thought it was a shame that it was not really more like it's own series than Fallout. Of course Fallout was inspired by Wasteland, but WL2 is a sequel that could easily pass as a sequel to Fallout 2—with minor alterations... but it's almost nothing like Wasteland itself.
  2. Of course I'm not. I don't think so; other than to take it off. *On a technical point it might even be an exploit that allows them to store it outside of inventory. That's the problem I mentioned above. I don't care how other people play their games, I care how the game are designed (to suit, so to speak), and that can be influenced by how other people play their games. Since when does an exampled parallel have to match something verbatim, in order to impart the gist of the concept? The salient point was a lack of coping mechanism. I am not convinced. I believe that it is at least in part, a symptom of fostering empowerment fantasy along with the ability to refuse or refute the imposed reality if they don't like it—albeit only in the game. I do see it as a kind of cheating to brazenly accept the benefits of [worn] equipment (in this case) without enduring the associated/or imposed cost of wearing it——which includes having to look at it, and could even be that it makes the PC look ridiculous (by design). The point being that if one chooses not to accept the associated cost of a thing, then one should not be allowed to accept the benefits of it; and that applies beyond playing video games. (IE. if one chooses to wear a "Shimmering Dunce Hat of Invulnerability", then one should not get to hide that fact—not even from themselves, and yet remain invulnerable by it.) **And this is the end of my posts on this...(because more would just be reiterating it.) —But someone can make a dedicated thread topic, and invite continuation.
  3. It behooves the seller to not care—so long as they get the subscription fee every month. Aside: Would you consider that MMO to have a relatively toxic environment / player attitude, or the opposite?
  4. Yeah... That's how you can get stuck with a FO3 from a masterpiece like Fallout. (But I agree, the topic's been asked & answered.)
  5. Not to troll players; to imply that the (in-game) creators of those items made them to be very obvious and non secret of their effects... or because it was the style of the past age, or even because the creator was a bit of a madman, etc... These are strange and unusual items. **It is not a problem to have a magical helmet be —magically invisible, as one of its features; but it should be one of its features—not a UI preference. One such purpose is that if let pass uncommented, it might detrimentally influence popular game design—and that affects everyone's experience (for both single and multiplayer). That's a derisive take on it. In context it actually meant developing a similar opinion about others, and in dealing with conventional situations; and a lack of coping with things when they are beyond one's control—or perhaps even over exercising control when one has it. Case in point:
  6. It fosters a nasty precedent that I suspect pours over into real life eventually. It is that it even occurs to the person to expect such a thing. To rationalize having —even full plated armor protection— while preferring to wear a robe (or even nothing at all). I'm fine with a hide the helmet button being in any game, but ~IMO~ if used, the PC should be vulnerable to headshots, and critical hits, because they are not wearing the helmet.
  7. Because the hat has bonus stats? Wait... you mean..?.. nah... Do you mean —KEEP the bonus stats afforded only by wearing (possibly garish, and uncomfortable) equipment that is worth wearing for the bonus it provides—but not wear it? That kind of thing? Like expecting to enjoy the protection or benefit, and somehow avoid the inconvenience, or silly appearance of it? Ah, I bet some people wish they could do that with shoes; shoes that look amazing but hurt like hell. To enjoy the envy of others, without suffering the cost of it. It's the old 'Have one's cake and eat it too'. It's a servile shame that some developers allow that kind of thing.
  8. Seriously? Why not just take off the hat? (It's an honest question.)
  9. Most irritatingly of all... I downloaded PoE2 in two sessions away from home, and discovered that GoG updated the game half way through my downloading it. That meant I had to go back to download the files again, and that I never got the previous version to begin with—and now cannot ever.
  10. I have had this for years, but not with every FPP title—and I suspect a lot of research went into the ones that I don't have a problem playing. FPP titles that have the camera slip/slide through the level, frictionless are definitely culprits here; FoV has been mentioned already. I love Quake, but cannot play Quake 2; can't play Battlefield 1942. I can play the Rise of the Triad reboot, but not the original. Forcing myself to play a game that affects me this way, always follows the same stages; first a mild hint of a headache (my first clue the game will be unplayable), then a definite headache, then disorienting nausea, and finally the desperate need to lie down (in misery) until the symptoms fade. I have never let it go further—where vomiting might occur. Thankfully for me, it's become less frequent with the more recent FPP games (probably them doing something about alleviating this for most people). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulator_sickness http://w3.uqo.ca/cyberpsy/en/cyberma_en.htm
  11. I had wondered if it wasn't a hidden difficulty mode. In Quake (as some might recall) the developers hid the Nightmare mode in a place that novices would have trouble even noticing the option.
  12. This is an old problem. I remember the original Iron Crown Enterprise's Middle Earth Roleplaying rule system did the same thing; and it did (as mentioned) diminish the mages by having everyone have magical abilities. I certainly couldn't get past that, and ultimately quit playing. *However...Magic can simply be considered something not understood by on-lookers. Both Magicians and Ninja's can use smoke bombs to achieve an effect. With fantasy games (or even printed fiction) it can be depicting skill, showmanship, embellishment in the telling, or just be an informative visual effect for the player's benefit, rather than being presented as "common magic"; (always a peeve when encountered). Not all of a magician's tricks have to be supernatural (even if the game considers them so), and a manic Barbarian can be seen as demonic, by the terrified. It doesn't excuse enchanting the mundane—for the sake of 'Rule-of-Cool', but one doesn't necessarily have to look at it as [legitimate? ] spell casting, or authentic magical abilities. (It could instead be conventional tricks of the trade, or representational emphasis; like in comic books... where no one really has streaked lines or printed sound effects in the air, during a fight... like with Batman & Robin).
  13. I just played my first PoE2 game [Trial by Iron/Path of the Damned]; and it was pretty good. The choice I took with Berath at the card table, was to return to the Wheel. But what I'd like to know, is just what effect (if any) does activating the Jester head, on the main menu, have —or change in the game? (Or is it just decorative?)
  14. I'd rather play an old classic like Rune instead of some garbage such as For Honor. Nevermind the graphics... Rune was superb! (...and still is)
  15. Great... An MMO set in a world that is supposed to be almost entirely killed off by the war, and a series that was mostly about solitary adventuring in the mysterious aftermath. One of the greatest (most impactful) experiences in the entire Fallout series was exploring the West-Tek facility; aka, "The Glow"... They could never match it of course, but how can they even attempt to in an MMO format? This would be the worst kind of franchise milking. Over the course of Bethesda's stewardship... the series has lost every single aspect, premise, and tenet of the Fallout concept—(aside from still using a few names) that made the brand worth buying (and the game worth playing) in the first place. With FO3, there was so little left of Fallout already, that I'd never bother with any future "Fallout" title by them.
  16. Nocturne could use a well done remaster IMO.
  17. I'm not sure I understand... Prey was demonstrated in 1998, and released in 2006. The sequel was released last year. Prey from 2006 was superb; and its in-game portal mechanics would seem to pre-date the game Portal by almost ten years.
  18. AAAAA AAA AAA I'm hooked on feeling. I did think the same thing when I first read it. (But then...I also just watched 'Guardians of the Galaxy' for the first time (a few days ago), and since Disney used that venerable track in the film, it easily mind.
  19. Wrestling... Trained jumping spider; named Kim. https://www.cnet.com/news/university-manchester-scientists-train-spiders-to-jump-on-command-robots/

  21. He has the action-anti-hero part of it down pat, but his features don't really look the part IMO. **But that doesn't mean that they couldn't —make— him look the part.
  22. IMO They should have used Daniel Craig—in a real one. On the gaming front: It doesn't seem likely that Cyan's 25th anniversary collection is going to get funded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL4mfS_d2U0"] https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1252280491/myst-25th-anniversary-collection?ref=category&ref=discovery
  23. Just a guess... but this way, the difficulty tweaks are (or might be) an optional patch for only those that demand it.
