Do you have multiple exams through the semester in each course? We just get one big one at the end.. Usually we have tests/labs, a midterm and final. For engineers the breakdown was usually 20%,20%,60%. I did like some people ended up writing a final out of 36 marks that was 100% of their grade.

Based on listening to some British speak, the alternative should be coherent. Pretty accurate card.

Woke up thinking it was Wednesday, sadly realized it was only Tuesday.

Well, for a politician he should be able to deceive and sucker the people in. But I guess the past decade had too much of that and people catch on. Looks like Syria is ok with the proposal http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/10/politics/us-syria-obama-solutions/

Think the weakness is being unable to rally support for it. I guess Republicans are being obstructionist, if Romney was in, they'd be all hard for bombing Syria I feel.

Almost a quarter of men 'admit to rape in parts of Asia'

Ah, tasty outrage will ensue from that. Hopefully at least I see one 'trembling with rage' though. -

Well I doubt EVERY man in Asia is a rapist. Still, better than S. Africa, last I read they were at 33% or so in a survey. Going to be one long solution to that problem. -
Congratulations on slaying the previous Programmer in a glorious Trial of Position!

Meh, I wish I'd studied harder when I was younger.

Hm, GTA's budget seems like it might be rather higher than other AAA games - I can see the music licensing costing a chunk, for example. But who knows if it'll crash, people keep on buying them and the pool of players won't shrink that much.

I actually have this game. Never played it though. In fact I forgot all about it until I saw you mention it. Is it any fun? It's got funny moments with the characters, the JRPG combat is a bit annoying though, I'd recommend playing it. Shame it ends on a cliff hanger.

It would. Depends a lot on the place, one old uni mate got shunned by his entire team when he interned at a place - they'd go for lunch without him, barely speak to him, etc. Not much to learn from an experience like that.

So acting like a sociopath is a bad thing is what you are saying ? Hmm.

Reconciling different perspectives on grieving

Another reason to avoid social networking. -
Playing SOASE a lot with friends, one guy is far, far from us and is getting whacked so is kind of tense to send relief and not get overrun at home. Also went back to WoW, just to see an old guildmate, kind of funny for our 120 person guild to just have us as the active guys.

Reconciling different perspectives on grieving

Well that problem is one that has to be done on a case by case basis. The photo changing is a subtle way of honouring the dead person as some random internet contact won't immediately know what is up, as opposed to an actual text post to that fact. I get both approaches. Grieving is a problem for me mainly as I have trouble actually doing it. -
Re-reading Starship Troopers as for some reason I watched the movie last night, and generally avoiding thinking about having to go into work tomorrow. Another resignation, but we might have a new hire. Something about him bothers me, but eh.

Things people get upset over. Didn't recall that the Maya died out from ways other than European steel though.

Well, at least we'd get 200 years of glory that way....

What's wrong with that joke ? They didn't see their conquerors coming, etc. har har. About as funny as most stuff here.

Can we make fun of Britain next?
