  1. They are getting a mine clearing equipment in the gifts, no ?
  2. What would a non-homicidal bomber be, exactly, I wonder ? Interesting it was a quadcopter strike, I guess Ukrainian special forces at play. As Bernard would say, it's one of those irregular verbs. I have collateral damage, you murder, he's a war criminal.
  3. Finished There Is No Game. Was okay, even if the humour does get rather worn in many cases. I did not like the act riffing on how terrible free to play games, was annoying as it stayed too long, I get F2P games suck, hence why I wasn't playing one. Also unskippable dialogues where the narrator summarizes what I did with surprise or other lines I can read rather than listen to are a negative.
  4. Via craptastic translation of https://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2023/08/20/oekraineblog-20-augutus-a4172323 "Ukraine has been explicitly asking the West for months for modern fighter planes, and found in the Netherlands a great advocate of that move. According to Rutte, the Netherlands has 42 F-16s that had to be replaced by F-35s next year. They will largely go to Ukraine, now that the US has given permission for it. The date of delivery has not yet been determined. Almost half of the F-16s are not yet operational, according to the Ministry of Defense. Ukrainian pilots also have to learn how to control the modern fighter plane. In all probability, the announcement of Rutte will not have any consequences on the battleground until 2024 in the early 2024." I read some things saying 18 are not operational. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ukraine-f16-fighter-jets-netherlands-denmark-1.6941863 Ah. 19, over time too. Luckily for them they can trot out : they're fighting an existential war then Russia did it first then lastly, it wasn't as bad as what Russia did.
  5. And now a hurricane on its way to California ? Weird.
  6. Is funny to send an email with an explanation, be told in a small group that I am wrong. Then see that person forward my email to a larger group and be told he's correct. Good thing my soul died long ago.
  7. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/first-ship-use-ukraines-corridor-arrives-istanbul-reuters-witness-2023-08-18/ Well, that bodes well ?
  8. Was going to say, that's modern gaming for you, but realized that it's pretty much always been that way.
  9. Hah, I remember Spoony reviewing that, back when his lunacy wasn't exposed
  10. Should work with Lancets and such, although not sure that's really much of a threat to a Challenger. Is funny to see it praised as ingenuity, even on something as invulnerable as that, heh. When the Abrams show up that will be interesting to see
  11. The English overreact so much when they have any success, here's hoping the Spanish can do it.
  12. https://kyivindependent.com/media-senior-nato-official-suggests-ukraine-could-exchange-territory-for-nato-membership/ DOA idea. Good for one thing, winding up all the Ukrainian REMF hawks like Podolyak.
  13. I'd just read American Prometheus
  14. Aside from him not citing much. I think he's wrong about the convicts, they didn't really stop and also was not just convicts but low grade troops being used. Also if they gave up Bakhmut, they'd run into a more fortified city. I don't get his point though where it comes to Wagner - he says if they gave it up, then Wagner gets a PR boost as Putin sees how their method works. But they got the same boost by grinding their way through the city anyway, and supposedly had the relation sour so much Prigozhin did the coup attempt anyway. Seems like a lot of hindsight to make the Ukrainians brilliant, heh.
  15. Happy belated. It's been a long time since I really cared that much but I've realized that much like funerals, birthdays are for the people around you.
  16. Playing There is No a Game. It's a rather interesting point and click, although some of the jokes hang around a bit too long, but creative at least. Some moon logic in play, at least to me, but perhaps I think within the box too much
  17. Survived my enemies for one more year. Think I reached the age where I can denigrate the young people of today too.
  18. Now that's some bold marketing.
  19. Refers to the song Waltzing Matilda. Should have called them the Glowers, cause in a land down under...
  20. Aussies to win the Women's World Cup for sure
  21. Steam reviews really are useless to read, once the game passes a certain size, apparently people were posting reviews on Bg3 that were just dumping on Diablo 4 But I guess these people are going to jerk themselves off thinking they owned Blizzard here.
  22. Should always doubt stuff like that, but apparently a big source of this is Eisenhower ? "Highly illuminating to me was his description of the Russian method of attacking through mine fields. The German mine fields, covered by defensive fire, were tactical obstacles that caused us many casualties and delays. It was always a laborious business to break through them, even though our technicians invented every conceivable kind of mechanical appliance to destroy mines safely. Marshal Zhukov gave me a matter-of-fact statement of his practice, which was, roughly, «There are two kinds of mines; one is the personnel mine and the other is the vehicular mine. When we come to a mine field our infantry attacks exactly as if it were not there. The losses we get from personnel mines we consider only equal to those we would have gotten from machine guns and artillery if the Germans had chosen to defend that particular area with strong bodies of troops instead of with mine fields." A Russian historian Isayev does have this "There's a very famous story, allegedly coming from Eisenhower, about how if Soviet infantry encountered a minefield, it would advance as though there was no minefield there. This is a retelling over a broken telephone. In reality, Zhukov insisted that regular ordinary infantry should undergo sapper training, because simple mine disarmament, removal of simple minefields, can be performed by a person who has certain combat experience, and the implementation of this in ordinary rifle units, so they would not be stalled in front of minefields waiting for sappers and deal with minefields that they could handle by themselves, moving forward, and not remain in place, vulnerable to artillery attack." Is impressive the amount of comments I found looking this up, albeit casually, on how Slavs or Russians are like some alien beings, not valuing life. Back to the war, Germany may be giving Ukraine the Taurus missile - https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/bundesregierung-prueft-lieferung-von-taurus-marschflugkoerpern-a-5412d838-4434-4706-86a3-292006f7912d
  23. Huge blow to the King of the Hill revival.
