  1. I agree.
  2. I'm not getting dragged into this.
  3. Nothing controversial about that, they just wrote down what they saw. That's the first decent game preview I've seen in a while, for any game. To keep the bs to a minimum: I wasn't going to play the game as it is. Now that its gone down the ME drain (so much for that "hardcore RPG successor to BGII garbage"), I'm twice as uninterested. The protagonist in particular irritates me in the same way as Shepard did. Its like they make them look retarded on purpose. PS: I'm glad someone noticed that the DA color palette is "s***** brown and gunmetal gray".
  4. Why bother? It's not like it's going to matter. I like this new you a lot more.
  5. I'm on level 9 right now....
  6. Halfway through it now. Tense stuff, worth a run through.
  7. While DK 1 is a lot of fun I'm starting to get sore over the lack of any storyline whatsoever... and every mission is to smash the other keeper.... Also: playing this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-7118ocSFg I do too. Although I don't know how well Myth would be received with its punishing and streamlined gameplay.
  8. See I don't find it depressing because I gave up on the DA IP halfway through the first game. I do expect/hope CD Projekt and other new talents step up to the job of rejuvenating the genre. Family issues and other assorted interpersonal problems are so prevalent in newer Bioware games that it seriously brings into question the psychological state of the writers. Whereas Torment's characters were going through what could be described as a deeply spiritual crisis (of not belonging, mostly), Bioware's are lost in this horribly mundane circle of issues. Which is why Bioware should either try to do Torment style tormented characters (as they seem to be trying so hard) or larger than life heroic fantasy figures. Either will be fine. But seeing Sten and Jacob moan and act like little girls over nothing while at the same time trying to be hardcore tough guys does not work.
  9. Well lets review: Dragon Age was a BG inspired RPG set in a trite setting with a run of the mill fantasy plot. It was too combat heavy, and the system was too prone to exploits. I hated the graphics, and was bored to death by most of the characters. Considering that there is no competition whatsoever, and nothing else to scratch the same itch it was a 3-4 star effort, depending on your mileage. *takes crystal ball out* Dragon Age 2 looks like a third person console hack and slash, that will be like ME 2 (meaning you'll be watching 60% of the time and playing perhaps 40% of the time), without the nice graphics, but probably sporting a larger game world. It'll be set in the same setting, which wont be improved one bit (if ME-->ME2 is a valid comparison). It will see you save the world with a party of angsty emo characters with a fighting system that will be a decade out of place when compared to contemporary action games. Actual world interaction will be minimal to non existent because Gothic 1 and 2 never happened. It will feature mature content in the form of bloodbaths, sexual interactions without actual sex, and real world problems of the characters (again, taken from the world view of a US teen and hollywood a.k.a "daddy issues"). At the time its released the PC will be so piss poor in games you'll be forced to play it, and the combination of relaxingly stupid gameplay (because you just can't put the effort to play anything that really requires skill) and polished, comforting and familiar plot (wonder why its familiar?) will leave you feeling you actually played something, and that although vaguely unsatisfying it really must be very good because you stuck all the way to the end.
  10. Dungeon Keeper 1 still
  11. Not really. Neither technology is superior only the artistic capabilities of the developers are what counts. Planescape Torment had high quality artwork which looks nice with widescreen patches. Dragon Age for example - doesn't. It looks randomly generated 90% of the time. Its between passable and ugly. So nothing has been "surpassed" because the essential quality - design - is a constant not dependent on technology but on talent. And its either good or bad.
  12. I wish I could get the bonus materials for BG... I already have like 3 copies of the game already
  13. Bow mortals, Torment has arrived on GoG.
  14. It looks like a crappy anime inspired hack and slash. The enemies remind me of power rangers for some reason. Much more importantly: It also looks horribly unresponsive and extremely clunky for the obvious reason that Bioware simply isn't able to do fluid third person combat. Now that the gameplay has been stripped of its complexity, watching what a similar, action game like DMC can do makes DA2 look like a leftover from the Gothic 1 era. Also, the blood.
  15. Apparently Maria was right when she said everyone complained about newer Bioware games but still talked about them months later. If I didn't see it, I'd say she was exaggerating. Not that I have anything against incessantly talking about a particular game, but the hypocrisy is too blatant to avoid.
  16. How many goddesses have you had sex with so far? Not as many as Geralt I'll bet.
  17. The GoG forums say the Widescreen patch works, although there is a frame rate loss on some machines apparently. The only problem is I don't have 10$ on my card.
  18. Drakensang: TRoT has already been published here ages ago. Yeah, you guys even got the cool cover. What the hell - ITS OUT??? NO REVIEWS... anywhere I played through the first Drakensang.... halfway before I got bored with the low level combat and stock storyline - should I give this one a spin??
  19. Dungeon Keeper 2. Never got around to it. It rules! Also, Startopia. I can't stop playing.
  20. What a bunch of crap.
  21. You fail reading comprehension so I'll repeat... I said impulse lets your back up/install your games off line and thats the service I use. However civ5 REQUIRES you to install and use steam. Never said I use the service for anything else. Which I don't. Does not keep me from pointing out the flaw I see in it however. Speaking of reading comprehension, maybe you should read the requirements a little more thoroughly before you buy games. Perhaps you need a class on remedial reading as well... When did I say 'OMFG I got home and i need to install steam?!?!?' I was well aware of steam requirement... however does not mean I have to be happy about it. I suggest you write an angry email to Sid Meier.
  22. The point is you're screwed and no one will guarantee you anything - so don't bother to ask. If its not a hard copy, in 3 separate copies, in a vault, 300 feet underground - its not safe. Why the hell did you buy a product you knew was virtual in the first place?
  23. Why anybody anywhere thinks these are a good idea is completely beyond my comprehemsion. Yes. I don't see the point. No, seriously, I don't get it. We had tons of games with fighting systems that never needed a single, time based button press to work - or rather, such things were integrated into the combat system, (like dodge + directional key) to be learned just like everything else. I mean, its not like n00bs really need them. Even the worst dilettante catches on after a while. And it pisses everyone else off. The outcry after the first leaked Witcher trailer was sufficient to show that. But they still persist....
  24. Too much work for just a trailer methinks. The game looks great. I didnt have much faith they could pull it off again. Only the QTE's are bugging me now.
