This isn't a shock, the game is genuinely perceived as being absolutely legendary by every single game dev I've met, myself obviously included thus.

Aside from being a graphically good looking title on a recently launched console, I can't think of too many positives for Oblivion. Sloppy execution all around. Much as I am inclined to agree with you, it wasn't totally sloppy.

You should know Vol can't do that. The Vological mind is only capable of processing literal meanings of all that is read, heard, tasted, smelt and felt... Vol cannot help that he has no sense of humour. Its like saying walk to a man in a wheel chair.

GTA suffers from what I call the shotgun effect - Lots of stuff, badly implemented. GTA offers the gamer LOADS of things to do, but each element on its own doesn't stand up, it is merely the quantity of implemented features opposed to the quality of each feature. This is opposed to say Blizzard or Valve who take the approach of quality over quantity. At the end of the day, I could never call out any feature of GTA - in terms of gameplay mechanics, which hasn't been executed to a far better level elsewhere. In the end the package works purely due to the scope, which is massive, coupled with a cohesive gameworld.

I spent most of the weekend screwing around with Amiga emulation, and Amiga OS's which has now seen a port to 80x86 architecture. Interesting stuff, I even write some code in AMOS BASIC, which was a throw back to my youth, think I may finish it up into a small game for the sake of it and stick it out in the world.

Prince of Persia was bloody awful, same as Tomb Raider and such ilk, I suppose for a film based on a gamer, it "better" than the average game movie, but still - They're all pretty poor, even the "better" ones are still poor. BTW, Best movie based on a game ever... Super Mario Bros. I spent hours as a child trying to figure that out - I know better now, there is feck all of a relationship.

So I've never played Dynasty warriors - I've no intention of doing so either, especially more so now.

Korgan+tome of body puts his constitution to 20. This means he regenerates like a troll. (Nice touch, actually implementing that, BTW. Class) heavy armour, shield, other buffs, rings etc. Just trundle him into traps, set them off, let him heal. I can still picture the little fellah grumbling like a tank engine, with tiny flames dancing on the horns on his hat. Like I'd ever give a tome to anyone but my PC. Systems thinking fail! You play as a party. Your Pc is just part of that. And if your PC has a starting Con of 13 or so, what's the point of 1 more point, really? Compared with a regenerating dwarf mentalist hanging about? I don't really metagame, if I did that it'd be far too easy, what with me having a regenerating dwarf around and all. So not really a fail, as much as a different approach. Playing the numbers game is really just too easy, I decided a long time ago to not do it, doing so spoils my fun, its like I am cheating.

Yeah, I have one and it looks great while you're not moving. But the longer styles tend to clip into the back and stuff when you run. And others do not work if you wear a hat (you go bald...) Kind of annoying. I don't think anyone has really pulled off hair in games. Heavenly Swords gave it a good shot. Alice: Madness Returns? That's more clever than good solution

I never held out much hope for RAGE. ID an their tech demo's. Dark Souls, that'll be what I'll be gettings! A good game, none of this "amazing" yet unproven tech poop.
