  1. I definitely got a "been there" vibe, ha...Bean there. Its just some of the lingo, its grim in the north, the fact they don't seem to like the south much etc... etc... despite the fact it seems they've got Yorkshire accents etc... Other than that, excellent opening. It just had this gritty sick vibe to it, that showed self indulgence, and powerlust. At the side of other qualities. I have a feel it'll be great, but I shall certainly be reading the books.

  7. You can get Loom off steam... But what do you mean specifically by "special edition"? Monkey Island 1&2 got re-released with upgraded engines as special editions. Got them both, and would get the special editions of Sam & Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle instantly. Ah, so basically after a remake... Meh, Loom probably wasn't popular enough.

  9. I've bought about 40... I only use GoG and Steam for PC games now. I even own alot of the stuff on disc that I've bought off GoG. Truth is, I hate disc's because I'm fat and lazy.

  19. I was just asking because I tried to convert the image and got a better result. Considering the savings, it does its job well enough. I only dislike when it is used to compress something it was not designed to do, like normal maps. Disgusting artifacts on NWN2 terrain come to mind. Still nasty... I didn't convert the image.
  20. Sounds like its worth giving a shot just because its got such a unique combat system. I'll plonk it a bit higher on the list of games to play. L2 on psp can be accessed via the analogue nub thingy on PS1 games. Thanks for taking the time to try and explain the mechanics, it has raised my interest.
  21. DXT1 doesn't look this badly, what have you done? I haven't done anything, and yes, it can look that bad, it depends on what colour you actually have as your source colour, grey and black are specifically very bad when it comes to dxt compression. edit: Alot of the AP textures look worse than this.
  22. Any chance of a more indepth overview, I've had the game sat on my PSP for a while, but never been too sure that it would be worth the time investment, whats the combat, and story like?

I think you're a ****ing programmer with less than 5 years in the industry. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not interested in taking art advice from you. I value the opinion of a mechanic on cars more than someone who drives them. That sounds pretty reasonable. You would take the opinion of a mechanic over that of a race car driver? The race car driver is actually the gamer. The mechanic is somewhat like the programmer. The artist is more like the engineer which makes the parts of the engine. It's not actually a very good analogy.
  24. This is out of hand. Yes, I shouldn't have been so dismissive. I hold my hand up, I shouldn't say "this is how it is, so deal with it", but the alternative really is me spending ages putting togeather a post which explains exactly why I've come to a conclusion - I'm not even saying people shouldn't have a personal preference for it, I'm just saying that the result is, well wrong, or atleast a poor representation of the source artwork, due to technical reasons. Hell kitty if I may try and explain this is some way which should make it clear to everyone. I'm not fond of these analogies that are being used, because they don't touch on the reality that the graphics programmer actually needs to know something about colours - this doesn't mean they know anything about art, in that respect I only have opinion to go on. I'm woefully aware that people on these forums aren't idiots. Disclaimer: This may effect your future enjoyment of games. At the end of the day, if you like the result, you like it. End of story.
