  1. I could have told you that. They brought the guy in when Clive Lindop got pushed out. Red River is just supposed to be a more serious gritty version of CoD, that's the desired direction, or atleast that's what the conversations I was having with the dev's boiled down to. Also, PC gamers do moan alot... They're a very vocal minority.
  2. Hardcore school night drinking, is common place - genuinely.
  3. You're not cool in the games industry until you can recite the entire list of op codes from your first computer that you programmed... Today I heard alot about the atari ST that no human should really know. I'm not cool...
  4. Yes, but they are rare, and the cabin fever tends to scare them away... But I know of a few. I also know a few of the hair scar overweight types too...
  5. You taunt me so, but happily no. I salute you, sir. You are made of strong stuff, indeed. What I've seen and heard about the fixed camera, combat hordes, fixed PC persona and general EmoWare soppiness lub story BS makes this an astonishingly easy decision to make, to be honest. Fixed camera, I agree. Combat Hordes, I agree. Fixed PC persona, I disagree. General Emoware lub story BS, I disgree. DA 2 is worth playing.
  6. I used "botched" in reference to how much the game differs from DA:O and Awakening -- instead of improving on a working formula, like they did with BG2, ToB, HotU, ME2 and Awakening, they decided to pretty much reboot the series entirely and turn it into something completely different. i.e. they botched the sequel to a great game. Too subjective to bother discussing.
  7. I agree what you're saying about punishment and DA 2, it really probably should be played on console. Yes corner cutting happends on every game, the problem with DA 2, is its obviously they've done alot more than they usually do in regards to corner cutting, particularly when it comes to artwork and environments. It hasn't actually effected the game all that much, but its had a negative impact on the experience for some people.
  8. I have a taste for whisky... I expect to die young... FML.
  9. Its not actually THAT bad, it really is about what company you work for, some companies, are actually just running questionable, and in some cases illegal work practices.
  10. Hence why I'm glad I gave up that delusion before I started college. You couldn't have hacked it anyways... The average attrition is about 4 years... You was clearly starting out deluded thinking this was an Adult industry. It's a way for grown up kids and retards like myself to get paid.
  11. Sure, there are other jobs which are similar, but its basically the fact that there is a general ignorance about games development. The best way I have found of describing it is: "The video games indstry is like having a monkey companion, one moment it can be the most unbelievable fun and then the other it has you pinned on the floor, biting away while throwing its s*** in your face."
  12. As you've never played it on PC, you can't really comment. Accept it or not, DA on PC was actually a different experience. There's also pleanty of "corner cutting" measures in place, that doesn't mean that the quality of what is there is a "botched" job, it certainly isn't.
  13. Can't you see that its not aimed at the PC market... ? This is a console game, with a PC port.
  14. I couldn't help myself...
  15. Surely Volo, you must except that on PC to break the camera so much is a bit of a thumb in the eye, it's the one feature which has consistantly made me a very angry man, as it is my firm belief that DA:O has one of the best camera implementation of a 3d rpg ever.
  16. Probably shouldn't have said that...
  17. I heard its very generic, but be sure to share your opinion with us all eh?!
  18. I so wish i could comment.
  19. Anyone playing Homefront?
  20. Of course. It's clear that developers buy reviews and write 'em, but the point is not to get caught In multimillion industry guerilla marketing is part of the portfolio. I mean it would be stupid not to be, as it's extrmely cheap versus traditional marketing. But it should be handled subtly and let masses remain ignorant that they're being manipulated. I'm saying it's likely not sinister.
  21. That'd be a pretty straight answer
  22. They didn't. They only publish Prey 2. Prey 2 will not use idTech5. Why not?
  23. The exploding reactor bit is perfectly plausible and we've effectively seen reactors exploding (as a common usage definition) even if the reactor core itself wasn't breached. And while there cannot be a nuclear explosion in the classical sense there is plenty of potential for something equivalent to a "dirty bomb" in superheated (plutono-) uranic slag hitting a water source directly. I'd agree that "nuclear explosion" really should not be used though. Media scare mongering.
  24. Even if this Chris fellow worked on the game directly... It doesn't mean EA made him do this, this is so common, developers support their own game. I dare you, go to a facebook fan page of a game you like, look at the fan's about 50 of them will be actual developers who are working or have worked on the game. I bet you could find metacritic reviews from developers across the industry if you "snooped" hard enough. If you worked for X years on a game, doing long hours, you'd take a little pride and want to shout about it, unless you think it sucked - then one tends to be quiet. *ahem*
