Chelsea Manning Sentence Commuted
His sentence was 35 years. Arguably he should've been put to death for treason, "aid and comfort to the enemy". And? How is this sending a message it was OK? Ok means no punishment is warranted and not like Manning had it easy in some country club prison. Obviously "OK" was a hyperbole used for the purposes of the joke, but Obola didn't sentence him, he only commuted his sentence, i.e. he's saying his offence wasn't as serious as the military judge thought.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Legally they can't stop it being used in a work of fiction. But they can harass people if they have nothing better to do.

What are you playing right now
One of several games on my to-do list. Made 3 half hearted attempts since buying it, but I don't think I made it out of the "tutorial" bit even once Promised myself to not even install Witcher 3 until I've worked my way through Pillars of Eternity (and expansions) as well as Tyranny. At least I've made some headway on Pillars Just do what I did and put POE into your rotation, then never play it. Just kidding, I finally did start playing POE again recently. I still haven't done the Pillars of Eternity expansions. I still haven't even done Dungeon Siege III's expansion! (Though I want to at some point.) It's just more of the same, mostly combat, I liked the main game better.

Russian Hacking Scandal : Why it matters
I'm not aware of Trump ever being violent.

Russian Hacking Scandal : Why it matters
That's right, Russians just didn't want to deal with a violently unstable person as president.

I loathe timers. I guess with the mod I could try the game, after I get through my 999 other games.

Russian Hacking Scandal : Why it matters
It's the old Soviet propaganda tactic now adopted by the Western left - accuse the opponent of whatever you yourself are doing. Funny how the main stream media had to back off of their claims of "fake news", once it was pointed out they themselves are the main purveyors.

Russian Hacking Scandal : Why it matters
It's all because Putin is one of the Karamazov brothers: http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/01/the-secret-source-of-putins-evil More liberal bellyaching. I disagree with his premise about Russian identity crisis, though there is an inferiority complex. Russia's real problem, as in so many other countries, is authoritarianism and corruption, i.e. lack of the rule of law. Peter is considered a great hero, because he vastly increased Russia's power and made it a player on the world stage.

Another example of great police works
Well yes, they might commit a crime, but usually not a mass shooting. Anyway, the standard for involuntary commitment is being a danger to yourself or others. So whatever mental condition meets that standard, by law you can't have a gun. We just don't have a system to implement that in most states.

It's American.

Another example of great police works
Not really strange, standard operating procedure. The reason is no one is responsible for handling these types of cases. The family might do something, but otherwise normally nothing happens.

Another example of great police works
Yet clearly he was: and from what he did just now. The article is vague, in one place it says he was evaluated and in another place "not adjudicated". My guess is it's the latter, and the reason is no one bothered to adjudicate him, it was easier to just give the gun back. PTSD, not the same thing as insanity, or to be more accurate, paranoid schizophrenia that appears to be this case.

Another example of great police works
I'm saying insane people should not be allowed to have guns. And by law if they've been involuntarily committed, they aren't. But something clearly broke down here.

Just saw Shturmoviks launch an air strike in Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front. Never seen that before, might be something new. You can actually see the planes flying and bombing and strafing, really cool.
