You mean our distant descendants.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/08/22/steve-bannon-trump-s-top-guy-told-me-he-was-a-leninist.html OK, so he jokingly called himself a Leninist because he supposedly uses Leninist tactics to destroy the establishment (without the mass murder though). But the end goal is entirely different from Lenin's.

Bannon has a lot of influence, as he should, since Trump ran and won on Jeff Sessions', Bannon's and Stephen Miller's platform, Sessions being the primary here, the other two following. And how exactly is Bannon a Leninist? I mean I know you're trolling, but do you have any basis in fact?

Some explanations of the executive order: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/444370/donald-trump-refugee-executive-order-no-muslim-ban-separating-fact-hysteria The country names aren't in the executive order, they seem to come from some prior State Department list of countries with active Jihadist movements. The thing about Green Card holders is baffling. There's nothing about Green Cards in the executive order, why DHS would interpret it that way is strange, as Green Card holders have rights under the law which can not be taken away by an executive order. May be some confusion or misreporting here. Would be a lot fewer problems also if they just stopped issuing new visas instead of not honoring existing ones. Edit: White House clarifies Green Card holders aren't banned, but may be questioned under some circumstances: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/29/us/politics/white-house-official-in-reversal-says-green-card-holders-wont-be-barred.html?smid=pl-share&_r=1

It's prudence, not fear. We see what's happening in Europe. A country's first responsibility is always its own citizens.

It's potential of terrorist infiltration. True Pakistan and Afghanistan would be high on the list, but I'm sure it has to do with diplomatic and political considerations. Egypt was only hostile to Obama on account of his support for Muslim Brotherhood. Turkey is formally a NATO ally, although a false one IMO. Iraq's currently at war and doesn't control a lot of its own territory, so there's that. Edit: Reading the executive order, it seems like it has to do with what kind of information on the visa applicants the country is able to provide. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/27/us/politics/refugee-muslim-executive-order-trump.html?_r=1

Speaking of alternative facts, welcome to post-modernism, Bruce: http://www.hoover.org/research/fake-news-postmodernism-another-name

They're also close US allies, who we can't afford to quarrel with. So only fatal attacks count? There were just recently a couple of attacks by Somalis.

Is that an about face though? Will need a translation from the original Spanish as well, heh. I don't think it's an about face, it's just that continually saying it publicly does nothing but rub salt in the wound. Just quietly take it out of their foreign aid and increase entry fees, or something like that. Don't insist that they have to agree to it, because they never will. Edit: Mexico flaunts our laws and disrespects our sovereignty, but we still have to be the adult in the room. https://www.city-journal.org/html/mexico’s-undiplomatic-diplomats-12891.html Needless to say, things have only gotten much worse since then under Obama. Nieto called us "the other Mexico".

I'm sure there is plenty of legalese that could get them out of the Union. But that doesn't mean the new trade and water agreements between the new country of California and the rest of the US would be amicable. They would be, otherwise both would only be hurting themselves. Same with Britain and the EU. Edit: This shows Republican power in the Senate is pretty tenuous: http://hotair.com/archives/2017/01/27/cbs-senate-republicans-convinced-trump-that-pryor-is-a-no-go-for-scotus/ Too many weak sisters.

It would if the law was passed allowing it, hence my idea of a national referendum.

From my point of view, it's the source of all of US's political problems, or most of them anyway. It was fine when it was Republican, or even a swing state, but now it's an evil, lawless Democrat empire. WOD you cant use such hyperbole.......you must be using certain just to tease the guys who live in California For example how is California evil or lawless ? Neither of those words can be used to reasonably describe any state in the USA http://www.breitbart.com/california/2015/07/09/7-ways-jerry-brown-and-california-democrats-embraced-illegal-aliens/ Also in the last Senate election in California, there wasn't even a Republican running. Both candidates were Democrats. And Dems are the evil party. Edit: Also this: http://victorhanson.com/wordpress/california-at-twilight/ Admittedly he can be a little apocalyptic.

Personally I think that we should not tap into our native oil reserves until we absolutely must (because why run them down when we don't have to, I'd rather pay more and have strategic advantage later than use them now and find ourselves short when we really need them). The oil is virtually infinite, it's just a question of getting it out of the ground.
-
Why wouldn't they just stay in California? They're wanted there, the benefits are great, and the Governor pretty much already surrendered the state to them.
-
According to polls 30% of Californians favor secession. Granted you need pretty good organization to get that many valid signatures, and they don't seem to have one, so we'll see. The perils of meritocracy: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/17/opinion/the-rise-and-fall-of-european-meritocracy.html?_r=2 Shorter version : Even if you're a citizen of the world, the world still doesn't give a crap about you.

Once again, like with the hacked emails, Russians are doing us a favor. Normally you'd run a deficit with one country but compensate for it by having a surplus with another. Problem is we run deficits with everyone. We could easily produce all the oil we need domestically, but that would require a fee on imported oil to make domestic production profitable. That is not politically possible. Edit: Doesn't matter that we're a service economy. You always pay for goods and services you consume with the goods and services you produce. We don't do that, so we have to borrow the difference. That works fine so long as you can borrow indefinitely and continue to pay the interest on the ever increasing debt.
-
Seemed so bad it's bad to me. Admittedly ME1 had a few good moments in a sea of tedious mediocrity. ME2 I could barely get through the demo it was so boring (Although if I could kick Joker through the airlock instead of being forced to rescue him, it'd be an instant buy).
-
It's a loss to the economy for sure. It has some benefits, mostly lower prices, but that is because we're borrowing instead of earning. So it's just a question of how long the scam continues.
-
It's just that you reached the level of wisdom to see things as they truly are. ME has always been schlock. Congratulations!

Do unto others: http://acecomments.mu.nu/?post=368084 Edit: Looks like CalExit might be on 2018 referendum: http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/01/27/calexit-california-nation-may-begin-collecting-signatures-ballot/ That's a lot of signatures needed though. Hopefully Trump pisses them off enough by then that it will win. If it does succeed, I think it's only fair to have a nationwide referendum on it as well. Edit2: Funny, US is much greener than Europe: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/01/26/china-and-india-reach-a-pack-a-day-cigarette-equivalent-in-air-pollution/ If you look at monthly data, it's not that bad, it's just current conditions.

Is it though? Mexico is our 3rd biggest trading partner and they are in the hole of 60 billion towards us....by those numbers, it sounds like we are better to not trade towards them if we are in the hole and trying to get out. What's the point of trading if the other one is paying and instead putting it on a tab. I also realize the irony since we are trillions in the whole with china. Maybe it's best of China did the same towards us. Mexico pays what they owe and USA pays what we owe to china and we stop borrowing. If u ain't got the money then don't spend. That goes towards us as well. Im glad you asking these questions, there is a misunderstanding about this $ 60 billion apparent " debt " Its not debt, its the trade deficit. What this simply means is Mexico has sold the USA $ 60 Billion more goods than the USA has sold to Mexico This is very important and its fundamental to the argument., All countries export and import goods to each other but some countries are able to export goods globally cheaper than other countries, like China So this $60 billion trade deficit is not the fault of Mexico ....there are ways to increase the USA exports to Mexico but its unreasonable to expect Mexico to now be punished for simply tapping into the USA consumer market http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2016/jan/26/donald-trump/donald-trump-says-course-mexico-can-pay-wall-becau/ The misunderstanding is all on your part. The trade deficit means our economy is being drained of $60 billion every year. How do we make up the difference? We borrow the money from China. The longer this continues, the worse for us. Of course this is not Mexico's fault, but a lot of things are their fault. I do believe in trying to be good neighbors though.

OK, you're right.

We should get rid of all sources of pollution and go back to living in caves. Even better, let's commit suicide for Mother Gaia.
