  1. That is totally ridiculous. Israelis were willing to go to just about any length to stop the suicide attacks.
  2. KOTOR was content free? KOTOR had more content than any game I've played.
  3. No, my feelings got hurt by Bioware charging me $60 for a content free game.
  4. Jade was a last gen game. I bet ME cost quite a bit more than Jade. And really AAA game costs can vary widely, GTA4 supposedly cost over 100 mil, and Shenmue was supposed to be 80 mil way back when.
  5. I think what the Israelis want is a multi-national force on the border that can't be bribed like the Egyptian border guards.
  6. You have a team of over 100 working for over 3 years, you're looking at tens of millions. And only a small percentage of game sales go to the developer, so 2 million is a rough guess for a AAA game. Edit: OK, I'll take your word for 2.5 million, but I noticed the price was cut pretty quickly after release, so a lot of those probably weren't even at full price.
  7. Where did you get those numbers? And no, 2 million is about break even, depending on how much the game cost to make. Edit: Pandemic made Full Spectrum Warrior, which was very good. Destroy all Humans and Mercenaries are supposed to be good too, but I haven't played them.
  8. I don't think ME did near as well as expected. They probably broke even, but that's about it. Compare their numbers to Assassin's Creed, which came out at the same time, AC probably did at least twice the business. Also Bio didn't get married, they got bought. They don't exist as a legal entity.
  9. Love that part. Bioware doesn't exist any more except as a division of EA. And the MMO is in trouble, because no one has taken on WoW and lived, which means Bio wasn't worth $800 million. That doesn't mean success isn't possible, but it's not terribly likely either. Pandemic of course made some really good games, but they've slipped badly lately, so their rumoured demise is probably deserved. As far as Bio, unless they get back to form with DAO, I won't even care.
  10. Except I didn't tell her to shut up, or that I hate her, or that she's the worst soldier in the world. My reprimand was quite reasonable under the circumstances, and I'd be a poor leader if I said nothing. Yet the developer decides to punish me for playing the game the way I see fit by taking away what little content is left in the game. If they want your choices to matter, ideally they should provide alternate content instead of just deleting it. Anyway, I didn't even start out complaining about this, I just remarked that she clammed up and thus I didn't see whatever depth her character had, you then proceeded to make a mountain out of a molehill, trying to prove the crappy game is a masterpiece. Anyway, because of your rudeness and hostility I will no longer respond to anything you say.
  11. It wasn't good enough to carry the game by itself, that's what I'm saying. KOTOR combat was even weaker, but it was still fun, and it worked well in the context of the rest of the game. But I wouldn't play either game just for the combat.
  12. I chewed her out for unprofessional conduct (gossip about her superior officer). Heh, sounds like she's also a plausible character. You show her that unprofessional behaviour is not tolerated and what do you know...she keeps her mouth shut and does her job. Don't blame bad writing for the character actually acting in a believable way. Don't tell her to act professional and reprimand her when she isn't, and maybe she'll behave differently. I didn't say anything about bad writing. I say whatever I think my character would say, otherwise you're just metagaming instead of roleplaying. A better design would be to end the possibility of romance, but still have her talk about other things so she's a more interesting character. As for combat, it was kind of weak, compared to something like Half-Life 2 or even Halo 3. But the cover, the Biotics, having a squad to command, being able to upgrade weapons and abilities made it more entertaining than an average grind shooter, so for an RPG the combat was pretty good. Unfortunately there wasn't much other RPG content.
  13. According to the judge, he's obsessed with the game.
  14. I suppose you could call them something other than Wookies, but you did encounter their government and politics, some of their culture, myths, their relationship with humans. What you call filler is what I play RPG's for. Also some of the stuff you mentioned was optional. It's not a detective game, because you're told which planets to go to, and then once you shoot your way through the planet, the next tidbit is automatically revealed.
  15. I chewed her out for unprofessional conduct (gossip about her superior officer). I don't remember any, except the earth first party, but anyway I hated all sidequests except 2.
  16. You also had quite a bit of freedom on each planet, something that was sadly missing in ME.
  17. But except for Udina screaming at the council and an occassional hostile comment to Shepard, it's not really dramatized. And like I said, Ashley clammed up early, so I didn't see much of the racist stuff. I did have one good convo with her, so yeah, she's an OK character.
  18. Explain to me how Wookies past is explained to you in gameplay and not the Rachni. IIRC the Wookies told you about their problems, and while you were doing the Star Forge quest you just happened to kick Czerka out and expose a traitor in the wookies midst. Most of the exposing is done by finding a single datapad and then a small pile of dialogue. I didn't say anything about Wookie past, I said current situation on Kashyyk. And what do you mean it's just one data pad, the whole storyline is nothing but Wookies, it's a wookarama. No, all I knew about Star Wars was Darth Vader was evil and the Jedi return, whoever they are. Also I hate SW because it's for kids. All I learned about SW was from KOTOR. All these mind melds and alien mind impressions get me confused. I know you get a little bit of info accidentally at the end of each planet, but it's basically a check mark you get at the end to progress the plot, you're not even looking for anything specific, it's kind of just coincidental, another thing I hated.
  19. Come to think of it, you'll love ME, run out and get it, if you're allowed to buy M rated games that is.
  20. Wait, there's a link between conduit and Rachni? Edit: Still you're either told or read all the history of the Rachni, the only gameplay you get is killing them, as I said. And all your so called contradictions about wookies are easily explained by the fact it's a fantasy game! Also they're not orangutans, they're fully sentient beings.
  21. Actually I gave it a 70, it's pretty fun as a cinematic shooter, I just like to point out its failures because they seem symptomatic of modern games in general.
  22. So because I think that Carth is a great character (and I do, and always did), and think Kaiden is a crummy one, that means I'm contriving my arguments? Well, see for yourself, why should that bother me?
  23. A hostile observation is an accusation, and saying I'm contriving attacks and full of hatred for ME is hostile. If I seem excited occassionally, it's because of the frustration of not having people see what seems obvious to me.
  24. The only way you interacted with the Rachni was killing a metric ****ton of them, and then there was that one convo. Edit: OK, I see your point that you did talk to the scientists about them, but how much did you find out exactly?
  25. When I find one, I'll let you know. Which ones specifically? If you're going to make accusations, you need to back them up.
