  1. It's OK as a semi-fun shooter if you lower your expectations enough, and there are a few moments that belong in a much better game.
  2. I'm really not sure what to say right now, I started to care a lot more about the characters but some events just don't make much sense to me, which really annoys me.
  3. PC Braid has a level editor! http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/braid-pc...a-level-editor/
  4. The doctors are so stuck in hype now I hardly pay attention to them anymore. Every game they make is "their best ever and awesome and fantastic!" I'm halfway through The Stolen Throne, and it doesn't seem very dark at all so far.
  5. Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 also "recycled KOTOR" - Humm.... I guess they had plan for it way back then. Anyways, Jade Empire, and practically every Bioware game, handles the plot better than KotOR did (not to say that KotOR is a bad game). Well, I haven't played the BG games, what exactly did KOTOR recycle?
  6. I agree with that, my point was specifically about Oblivion though. Why isn't there a point? You're given tasks and you fullfill them, just like in any RPG. In addition you can explore and have adventures. The point is to enjoy the gameplay. I understand not everyone enjoyed the stuff you did in Oblivion, but like I said, that's personal preference.
  7. We already tried nation-building in Somalia, didn't work out so well. I guess Australia can try next.
  8. They're not absurd if you consider everything else that's currently available. Sure, comparing it to some perfect game from 10 years ago the scores might be too high, but comparing to the current sea of crap they're pretty reasonable. And of course there's the well know phenomenon of review score inflation. On a 5 point scale, an average game is 3, but on a 10 point scale, it's 7. Also disliking Oblivion is mostly personal preference, it's a solid 8.4 on the quality scale. Just look at the level of detail and compare it to almost any other game.
  9. The analysis was interesting, thanks, I didn't even realize . I have to say the story makes more sense to me now, whereas before it didn't at all.
  10. JE was good until they run out of ideas and time and started to put in filler and recycle KOTOR. Then they said, "hey, we should do that to start with!", and made ME.
  11. I think it improves though. Having said that, if you didn't like anything in the sample chapter, you probably won't like the book either.
  12. Oh do tell! Us non-initiated want to get a piece of the nonsensical pie. You'd probably have to read it in context to see why it would bother someone.
  13. No one as good as Carth, but then it's hard to compare game characters to book.
  14. So far I read about 1/3 and it's pretty good, except for one event which was so non-sensical it made me grit my teeth in frustration.
  15. The autoaim in ME could be turned off, or at least minimized.
  16. I think most of that money were his living expenses. Great game, very clever puzzles, probably more clever than Portal. Didn't really care for or get the story though, probably would be better without the actual text, or most of it at least.
  17. Supreme power does rest with the people, since in theory they can change any law or constitutional provision. In practice to change a lot of things it would take more than 60 or 70 percent consensus, which almost never happens.
  18. My research indicates ME was a very troubled project from technical point of view, and at some point they just had to take what they had, polish it up so it was playable, and ship it, which explains its half-baked and awkward state. Amazingly most reviewers and players completely missed that and declared it a great game.
  19. If you read all the quotes in Maria's post, the gifts are limited and quickly reach the point of diminishing returns, also not everything can be fixed with a gift.
  20. As I said several times now, we already have a constitution that's very difficult to change, thus most states don't consider it necessary to treat the state constitution the same way. You have to pay taxes for one. Don't you normally have the right to keep the money you earn? do you even understand why the US is a republic with democratically elected leaders, not a democracy? this statement is an absolute crock. i honestly thought you were smarter than this. taks A republic is still a democracy, just not a direct democracy. And the republican government is only prescribed at the federal level, states and local can have whatever form of government they want so long as it's compatible with the US constitution.
  21. I was talking about referendums in general. Fundamental rights are protected by the Bill of Rights, which can not be changed easily, as I already said.
  22. Except that you're always going to have to give up some amount of rights to live in a society.
