  1. I guess you guys forgot what Cheney said to Leaky.
  2. I guess that's OK then, but do they really expect me to be a good Grey Warden in that case? Seems like even a normally decent character would try to sabotage them as much as possible.
  3. Nice, of course there's no way to refuse the joining for the player. Unless the joining is involuntary for the character also, that pretty much says what kind of character you are. "Ooh, I'm so incredibly evil,
  4. I heard on the radio the reason people in the North countries suffer from depression is because there's not enough sun and thus they suffer from a vitamin D deficiency. So if you take a vitamin D supplement you'll feel better.
  5. ...and what's the status now? Well, there's another plan that came out of the Health and Human Services committee, which is more like the one in the House, so they're going to have to reconcile all of those before a final bill can be passed by both houses. The finance committee one is considered to have the best shot though as it's the most moderate.
  6. That's actually the plan they came up with in the Senate finance committee.
  7. A hospital, whether public or private, can't check you out until you're in good enough condition, they could transfer you to another hospital if they can find one though. And yes, legally they're required to treat everybody, doesn't mean they actually do it in practice.
  8. Communes do work if they're voluntary, like Kibbutzes do work. But the problem is most people don't want to live in them voluntarily. And probably even a lot of people in a commune will eventually decide they'd rather have a big ass house and a big ass car.
  9. Your sentiment is correct but your math is wrong. It would still be 13% of your family income, since it's twice as large as what you each make individually. Edit: Btw, to all you Euros, we have public hospitals, I know what they're like, no one who can afford it would be caught dead in one, so don't try to pull the wool over our eyes.
  10. 50% of health dollars are spent at the end of life, so stretch out the wait until the patient dies, there's your 50% saving.
  11. This is very arguable- most 'primitive' human groups had broadly patriarchal and authoritarian systems with no concept of individual property. Accepted, it isn't human nature now. You mean like a family?
  12. Never heard of such a thing. Insurance companies have contracts with hospitals and doctors to set compensation rates.
  13. What instant change? She's kidnapped by Malak and "persuaded" to flip. Her existing character flaws, mainly pride, make it possible. The persuasion takes a day. She probably holds the record for the most easily corruptible paladin ever. The entire setup is absurd. A day? How do you figure that? I'm pretty sure it's implied it takes a considerable amount of time, you explore a couple more planets before you see her again. And easily corruptible? Like I said, she has character flaws to start with, and anyone will break under torture eventually, known fact.
  14. I'm just glad Buchanan was able to take time out of his busy schedule defending hitler to predict the coming doom of our country.
  15. Because people get really pissed when someone tries to take away their identity, and shove their own values down their throats. Having said that, I think the guys in Tampa are being unnecessarily "in your face" confrontational, it doesn't hurt to take other people's sensitivities into account.
  16. I don't want anything to do with the government because government sucks and I hate it. If they want to provide free healthcare for those who can't afford it, then whatever, but stay the **** out of my business.
  17. What instant change? She's kidnapped by Malak and "persuaded" to flip. Her existing character flaws, mainly pride, make it possible.
  18. Full body condom. And a paper bag for her head of course.
  19. Sometimes it's obvious what you'll be fighting, but a lot of the time there's no way to tell at all, especially when you run into enemies you haven't seen before. Of course choosing spells to buy always has that problem, you really don't know what the game is going to emphasize unless you've already played it. The right way to do it is to select the gameplay depending on which abilities you have, but very few games bother to do that.
  20. I wish they'd hurry up with the damn vaccine.
  21. It's a reaction to the removal of the confederate flag from public places. You don't understand southern culture at all, it has nothing to do with slavery, it's "us against the yankees", kind of "red states/blue states". My high shool is still called "The Rebels", they may not use the confederate flag anymore but they did when I went there in the 80's, and the mascot was "Johnny Reb".
  22. I recommend James Michener's "Tales of the South Pacific"
  23. The confederate flag is perceived completely differently by white southerners and by blacks. To whites it's a symbol of southern pride and history, to blacks a symbol of racism. Whites perceive the campaign to remove the flag from all public places as a slap in the face and react accordingly, blacks see any attempt to fly the flag as a slap in the face.
  24. None of the solutions proposed will do anything to control cost increases the way I understand it.
