Piranha Bytes RPG teaser site
Banned in Australia again. Here's what ESRB has to say about it: http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=27163

Ad campaign/hype?
Then, have you got any idea whats on their mind? Because this is beyond weird. We don't have any ****ing money!!!!

Windows 7
Might as well go for 64 bit, not that it'll do any good as all developers will be limited by having to support 32 bit for years to come.

Axis in WWII
You mean like the very successful uprisings against the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe?

Digital Spy preview / interview with Nathan Davis
Oh, thanks, I think I missed that because I posted at the same time as he, so the subsequent discussion was irrelevant.

Axis in WWII
I think that was more of a rationalization for his getting cold feet, politically it didn't make any sense since that was his one chance to get rid of Churchill. Edit: May be the drugs he was taking kicked in. Some of the stuff he supposedly said was just weird.

Axis in WWII
Germans attacked in June. And no, Russians weren't about to attack Germany at that time: http://www.battlefield.ru/content/view/208/108/lang,en/

I still don't understand whether recruit and veteran are tied into the difficulty setting or completely independent of it.

Axis in WWII
Certainly Germany had many chances to if not outright win, at least greatly improve its chances of winning. For example, had they not inexplicably stopped their advance for several days at Dunkirk, they could've annihilated the British Expeditionary Force (as everyone including Churchill expected) and knocked Britain out of the war. There were also many blunders in Russia, e.g. I believe at Kursk hitler delayed the offensive against Von Mannstein's advice.

I'm against locked difficulty levels, if that's what this is. It's pretty presumptious of developers to assume people will play their game more than once.

Alpha Protocol preview at Eurogamer
When Oblivion came out, it was pretty much alone among open world RPG's, which I believe explains the high scores (Gothic is barely known in the US).

Too Many Delayed Games
Everyone's getting out of AP's way, what luck, Obs better not delay it.

Brian and Annie merge into a fearsome beast!
Like I said, you mustn't be part of the target audience.

Brian and Annie merge into a fearsome beast!
Well, that's what I'm trying to say, they have a 5 man team, and they don't want a publisher because they want complete control. The previous game is supposed to finance the next one, so if AoD doesn't do well enough, it's the end of the road. Edit: You'll be able to order a CD with a nice manual from their website, in addition to DD, I don't know about other arrangements.

360 version? You're a laugh riot. Yes, as chronicler said, definition of success is quite different for a 5 man team vs a 50 man team.

@Morgoth They hardly invested any money, so at least that they don't have to worry about. But you're right, no one knows if the project will succeed, it's an experiment at this point. But I'll point out that most mainstream games with high poly graphics also lose money, a whole lot of money.

Can you point out any quality RPG's among them? Obviously graphics were never a priority for AoD. I remain skeptical about your taste in art. Your expectations, not everyone's. AoD is meant for a niche audience, you may not be part of it, that's why ITS is an indie developer.

Brian and Annie merge into a fearsome beast!
Exactly. AOD looks great, anyone looking for polycount should get the next piece of shiny crap from your favorite AAA shiny crap developer who spends $30 million to make their crap shinier than last year's piece of crap.

The game is isometric, and I'm sure Source is way more than they can afford, since there's no financing so far as I know.

Windows 7
Like Vista wasn't stable, silly. Vista seems easily corruptible by applications crashing, while W7 seems better protected, at least based on my experiences so far.

Windows 7
It's Vista 1.5, but seems a lot more stable.

Alpha Protocol preview at Eurogamer
Seems unusually insightful. That's exactly my concern.

Dragon Age Origins
Blasphemy!

The current thinking is to keep the families together if at all possible, in some cases they've gone too far with that idea.
