  1. http://www.criticalgamer.co.uk/2009/10/28/...ocol-interview/ http://www.vg247.com/2009/10/28/exclusive-...much-much-more/ Enjoy!
  2. Out of curiosity, is there some industry tradition that other developers get games early, or were ya'll just first in line among the plebes? It unlocked on Steam today, didn't it? It loaded on my machine, anyway. At any rate, it's a small download (~900 megs) and our pipe can bring down quite a lot of data pretty quickly.
  3. Heard about that one. I don't understand how it can be so difficult to keep pace with a Claptrap. I want to shoot Claptrap so bad.
  4. That's how it started when my Radeon 1950 Pro ended up dying. I think it was the RAM overheating, you only see the GPU's temperature. Sometimes the heatsink isn't even connected to the RAM. That could be the case. I'll send in the registration card for the extra warranty length, take a few screenshots of the corruption, and if the next major driver release doesn't take care of it I'll RMA it. It's difficult to tell with these new Radeons because they have the sleeves that run all the way up and down the card. There's no way to see the RAM at all.
  5. Although, now that I'm hearing more about people who encounter the "hey, all my talent points are suddenly gone and there's no way to get them back" bug, I'm thinking maybe we should plan on doing a Borderlands night for sometime after the first patch hits.
  6. Despite the wonky interface issues, I'm actually having fun with this. If anyone would like to play sometime this evening (after 8 PM PST), drop me a line and we'll try it out. I have a level 18 Soldier, but I wouldn't mind starting over with another character if we want to get on the same slate early on. Or I can use the lvl 18 soldier to rock you through some of the earlier quests if anyone wants an upper hand.
  7. We're hoping to make these pretty regularly from now on, hopefully one every couple of weeks.
  8. Most people seem to recommend XFX for ATI cards, mostly because of the three-year warranty (provided you register the card within a month of purchase). NVIDIA has no solid dates for their follow-up card, and I don't believe they even have preview units out yet. The time frame for that extends from early next year to next summer, so who knows when it'll be and what the prices are. If you're happy with the card you have, I would wait, but again, those cards might not be coming down the pipe for a while yet.
  9. I'm using an XFX 5850 and I've been noticing some odd glitches as well. Most noticeable is texture flickering in Borderlands, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, and especially in Left 4 Dead. It's pretty annoying. The card runs around 60C at load, which is high but I don't think it's necessarily high enough to cause crazy stuff like this. I'm assuming it's just poor drivers at the moment. I'm running Windows 7 as well. No crashes yet, though.
  10. Also check out this one: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=51639
  11. Hey there, There was a similar question in this forum a few months ago which you can read here: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=51506 Hope that helps some.
  12. As far as I know, we would've taken it down had it been filled.
  13. Original game's well worth the money, as well.
  14. http://steamcommunity.com/id/railroad Feel free to add me if you're getting Borderlands. Or if you just want to add me, feel free.
  15. Really looking forward to Torchlight. Pre-ordered Torchlight and Borderlands on Steam. Got L4D2 preordered as well on there. I might wind up picking up Demon's Souls as well. Plus Dragon Age, and maybe Modern Warfare 2, but the lack of dedicated server support rubs me the wrong way. Gonna be a fun November.
  16. Steam pre-loads have started. Totally looking forward to giving this a bit of my gameplay time. Anyone else going to get this on Steam? If so, I'll post my Steam ID and we'll try to get some co-op in.
  17. Although I fear to say anything because I think it'll be a simplification, I would say that the major theme of AP would be one of loyalty. Loyalty to country, to a person, to a cause. Different people feel loyal to different things, or don't feel loyal to anything, or are loyal to something or someone that betrays them. How do you deal with that? You'll find that the characters of AP have very different reactions to betrayal, and have very different conceptions of loyalty. And how those reactions play out will impact the storyline as you discover it.
  18. One thing to note is that credit cards are great ways to actually build credit. You might have an awesome credit score, but lenders in the future (when you want to buy a house/car/whatever) will still look for your ability to manage lines of rotating credit. So a good plan to build credit is to get a rewards card or a gas station card, use it to fill up on gas, pay it off every month, and never use it for anything else. You won't wind up spending more than you would otherwise, you'll earn a bit of cash through rewards, and you'll improve your credit score. I went without credit for most of my life (just got one last year), so I can see the virtue in only spending what you have, but so long as you stick to something simple like the plan above, a credit card can really help boost your credit score, and of course can be really handy in an emergency.
  19. There are some 5870's floating around the office, so I'm going to take one home and try it out. Assuming it fits into my case, that is.
  20. if you just play the game doing ONLY the bare minimum, (ie just the assassinations and the couple jobs needed to unlock each) there is actually a fair amount of combat, and its well balanced in between the parkour parts of the game. especially the last few assassinations, there are some brutal battles there. if you havent tried doing that, i recommend it, its much more fun than if you spend time dilly dallying with the awful side missions. Even now, I find the tactic of "alerting guards/running to a rooftop/throwing them to their deaths" to be one of the most satisfying things that any game has done in the last couple of years. Maybe I have some weird fetish for making people fall to their deaths; I loved the kick action in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for the same reason. Anything where you can make someone fall off a ledge is fun in my book.
  21. Got up to mission 12 or so in Uncharted 2 and will probably round it out this weekend. We'll see. Still need to finish up Tales of Vesperia and get through more of my roommate's copy of Arkham Asylum. Will try to knock that stuff out before Borderlands pops up on Steam on the 24th.
  22. Thanks for the pre-orders, guys. They really are important for new IPs to have, to show that people are excited about the game. So it's much appreciated!
  23. I'm going to close up this topic and a few of the other ones about this news. I've created a fresh one for your discussions. Again, sorry for the wait in getting the official word out to you guys.
  24. I am going to clean up some of the existing topics and give you guys this one to talk about. Here's the official press release. In the end, Feargus' statement is the best summation of what's going on.
