  1. I think the wolves spawn in when you get a certain quest off the chanting board. And yeah, there are a lot of them. I got to that encounter before Morrigan even levelled up once and it was pretty rough going.
  2. I actually had the same sniper rifle plop down once during my first playthrough and once during the second, with the second one being a vast upgrade over the first. Pretty nice, though. It is a shame that most of the bosses drop the same weapons every time you kill them. And it's too bad that, for the most part, they're unusable. They're usually awesomely powerful but have some huge drawback that makes them vendor trash after you fool around with them for a bit.
  3. I got the new Stephen King novel in the mail. 9 bucks from Amazon for a 1074 page hardback. This thing is huge.
  4. Some weapons I'm using at 50. I especially like the SMG.
  5. Cool, I'll try it when I get home tonight. Be curious to see what my weapons actually do, besides melt faces.
  6. There hasn't been a PC patch released yet, apparently one is coming, though. What's the file tweak you need to do to show all the lines on a weapon? Since I hit 50 I might not be playing much longer, but it'd be nice to see some of the extra stats on my weapons.
  7. Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you about Borderlands. I'm mostly playing SP until they get a patch out - MP is pretty laggy at the moment.

  8. http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/17450/ Just sayin' yo. At least you got some exercise out of it, though.
  9. I just picked up a 1200 shield last night with healing. Unfortunately almost all the shields either have Very Slow healing or Ultra Rapid healing, and nothing in between. Very Slow is still pretty handy for healing up in between firefights, though. I'll try to take a pic of my four weapons tonight I think I have a pretty good loadout on my soldier. I'm still only around 44 though.
  10. That sucks, but probably not impossible. They are pretty rare. You'll find one eventually - I have found them almost exclusively in chests. Don't think I've ever seen one drop. I do think it kind of sucks that most of the bosses drop the same weapon every time you kill them. Part of the fun of Diablo was doing boss runs. But here it looks like you get the same purple weapon from the dudes you kill every time you take them out.
  11. I think they will pop out at a certain level based on the area they're based in. So if you bring a level 50 guy back to a Playthrough 1 Arid Badlands chest, it'd probably pop out some level 5 thing. I have encountered some chests that have popped out stuff well above my level (think I found a 23 when I was 19, and a 43 when I was at 39, and I think it was from the same chest in diff playthrough, actually), so I imagine if you brought a lowbie character into a high-level game you'd find a bunch of stuff that you couldn't even use. And yeah, I've noticed that some chests do have a better chance at good items than others. It's weird. There's one near the start of the game across from the first Arena area, in a bunch of shacks suspended over a gorge, that seems to be pretty lucky to me.
  12. Yeah, I got a lvl 43 Pele's Sacrifice sniper rifle in one of them last night. Almost 600 damage, plus it sets everything near your target on fire. WIKKID SICK.
  13. Heheh....had a few things like that happen early on too. Fun stuff. Skagzilla for me was the easiest mini-boss for me to do. No cheap/sniper oriented methods there...didn't take much ammo, but I had a beefy shotgun. The next boss was harder/had my usual troubles but I'm now in the trash-town of New Haven. Pew, smelly. This is incredibly not a spoiler unless you are crazy crazy about things that aren't spoilers actually being spoilers, but I'll put spoiler tags on it anyway.
  14. I personally would love for that to happen, but it's not something we can do without talking to Sega. At the very least, I would hope that it would be streamable on alphaprotocol.com at some point.
  15. I don't think we have made an official announcement about composers, but I know it's on Sega's list of things to do.
  16. Yeah, that's been known for a while. I'm not planning on hosting any MP stuff for a while, so I figure it's not a big deal at a moment. I figure I'll wait until it's patched up a bit before I do that.
  17. I guess I must too. The main quest bosses are pretty tough as a Hunter & for non-expert FPS players, tho. After dying repeatedly w/no weapon taking more than a sliver of health off him, I had to use a very cheap tactic to take out Roid Rage dude and I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with the next one. Maybe if I level up to where the quest is grey...everything else has been a very nice, consistent solo challenge but not "impossible." Typically, I do every quest that I get and leave anything that seems like it might be a "boss" one for last, and the bosses have generally been pretty easy. But yeah, I can see how it'd be difficult for a sniper character (that's what Hunters are, right?). I highly recommend a good SMG or full-automatic machinegun as a side weapon, or some kind of caustic shotgun for armored enemies like Sledge. I wound up playing as a Soldier, and I avoided any skills that boosted any particular weapons, just because I like to try anything interesting that pops up. Seems to be working well so far. I'll try one of the other classes when I hit 50, I guess. Also, there's an INI file you can edit to give yourself as many inventory slots as you want. I forget which file it is, but it should be an easy google. I upped my backpack to 100 slots and enjoy the game a lot more now. Just pick up everything I see and sell anything that's green or white without looking at it. I'm almost at the cash max now (it's pretty rare that I find anything I actually want to buy now).
  18. Yeah, I really enjoy the SP as well; I'm actually going through for a second play-through, which is a lot more challenging as a solo player. Most of the online games I've joined have been lag-fests, unfortunately, but playing it solo has been well worth it. I like shooting things.
  19. I got the Direct 2 Drive deal, but I forgot to copy the install files over to my other hard drive when I reinstalled Windows 7. So I'd have to download it again, ugh.
  20. I just found my first fishing hole last night. I definitely think the fishing game takes a bit too long. It's very WoW-ish. I would prefer to just have the fishing hole be like a treasure chest; find one, click it, get a bunch of fish. But maybe I just feel stupid for having actually gotten up to 375 fishing in WoW. What on earth did I do that for? That's like a day of my life down the drain.
  21. I'm not sure anything will ever compete with Falcon 4.0's manual.
  22. Yeah, I wish I could've found someone with an .edu address for that deal. As it is, I wound up paying 110 on Newegg for the Home Premium OEM, which I'm sure will be fine. It's a pretty solid OS and worth the money if you're going to have your computer for a few years. I've been using the release candidate for a while, although I foolishly downloaded the 32 bit version when I should've gotten the 64 bit one. And thus my machine is recognizing only some of the 6 gigs of RAM I have in it. Should be getting my legit copy tomorrow, though.
  23. Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about how often we do community stuff and I would like the frequency to increase. Hopefully sometime in the new year. But in the meantime, I've already had a few more blog drafts delivered to me. I think you guys will enjoy them when they come online. Expect the next one in early November!
  24. Cool, feel free to send something out to jobs@obsidian.net!
