  1. How does releasing DVD quality movies make K2 better?
  2. That is what you think. But LA thinks that wrapping up audio/video for Episode III games is more important (and more lucrative) than gratifying some whiners who want to see a boring "ship lands on dantoinne" scene with DVD quality. No wonder Feargus considered to close down the forums... "
  3. Actually it would be be that much. Sure it would be a hefty download but for those who have high connection speeds, like myself, won't have a problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still I don't think that will happen. I never saw a publisher just hosting a 2 gig movie pack. Besides those movies had to be re-rendered and remastered, and I think LA has really more important things to do....
  4. Releasing the movies in DVD quality? LOL. That would be at least a 2 gig download, forget it. And what for anyway? The vids were, as I can remember, not worse than those from K1. It's not like I couldn't live without those movies, I mean I'm playing a game there, not watching a motion picture. One thing though LA should consider is releasing the music in HQ.
  5. No, flinging adolescent insults at any game that somebody doesn't like reflects that the same somebody just doesn't seem to like the game. Duh!
  6. Yeah, watch out for that big hairy cave troll in the Northern woods named Trollourn!
  7. Sacred is just a heap of boring, uninspired rubbish. But some talentless developers will always try to copy Blizzard's game principles, thinking they could land the same hit, but just don't realize that only Blizzard can do a heck of a fun game with Hack&Slash gameplay, because they're taking their time to balance every aspect to death (which is in game game full of statistics absolutely critical). And when we're at Hack&Slash, I'm just wondering how that Chris "Dumbass" Taylor and his crew of Gas Powered Farts landed a hit with a game simpler than D2 and making even no fun at all!
  8. Well, there're still the Bio forums, as long as the steady and famous LOCKDOWN! doesn't bother you too much.
  9. System Shock 2 Baldur's Gate 2 Starcraft Deus Ex PS: Torment
  10. Normally I'd agree, but I can never complain about another sequel to a kick-ass game like the NOLF series. Condemned with it's supernatural powers and depressing scenario also sounds pretty reminiscent to FEAR, and from what I've heard they even cut out the skill system in FEAR, which is a step back in my book. But since Monolith is a 150 people large developer, I'm sure they'll get started (or already work on it) with NOLF3 some time in the future... Darn, they have to, it's their coolest IP after all... Nothing beats a pursue after a frenchie peewee with a tricycle driven by a crazy Scotchman!
  11. Having a good story, characters blabla is mandatory anyway, so how is that pushing the genre forward in your opinion? And letting the combat fade into the background only means that the combat is not done right, so how does that push the genre forward? When it only would come down to those criterions, Bio just could make BG3, BG4 etc. like BG1/BG2, or would have done KOTOR2 themselves, with no noticeable gameplay improvements, they would probably still make a lot of money, but at some point people would ask themselves "Hmm, it's time for something new". That's the reason why Bio's last few (and next) projects distinguished a lot gameplay wise, and why they let the sequels doing someone else (LOL). There you see you can't have improvements roleplaying wise when there're no imrovements gameplay wise. Developing a story isn't the big problem for designers, but how to craft story interactively, this is the actual hard part. For example, F1/F2 or IWD1/IWD2 were in the end, apart from some rule changes, just the same games, but only distinguished story and content wise. That's for many people enough, but that doesn't heave a developer to the famous status like Bioware enjoys now. And I'm not talking about whether you think their games suck or not, that's something subjectively and does not influence Bio's enduring success.
  12. No, that ain't a horror vision. Just imagine Uwe Boll is going to establish a game company and then gets a contract with Atari and then....
  13. Oh please don't be ridiculous. Troika pushed the RPG genre? No. Aracanum, basically a Fallout, but less fun. ToEE -> Utter Crap. Bloodlines at least enjoyable, but some heavy problems, especially balance wise --> destroys gameplay experience. Bioware made NWN and brought forth a huge Mod community that we only know from the FPS scene... there's a powerful toolset that every moron can use, there's a RT DM Mode and the game still has great support. And with HoTU Bio proved that they even can deliver a better SP experience than some other full price titles from well-known RPG companies. So there's for everybody something. And that for a game that just was meant as a multiplayer platform "heavy".
  14. "D&D" or "Starwars" doesn't automatically mean "great game", as you can see with PORII, Demonstone or some crappy SW games. In the end it's not that different to a developer to use a license or not, the developer still must create outstanding content in all areas possible, and that is what really counts. Yup. But again, people refer a KOTOR or BG not to Star Wars and D&D respectively, but Bioware. So I don't really see a problem with JE either. Nah, I don't think they just make a NWN with better graphics. Or a crappy Tileset-based Toolset. Bio's smart enough to do something different, but still let the fanboys "feel at home" when they play it. A'la BG series, NWN, KOTOR. All three are different games, but still recognizable as Bio games. That will come in time.
  15. Bioware don't need to run after a trend or "what may be "in" in 2007" nonsense. If Bioware makes a game, people are gonna buy it anyway. And looking at Bio's last creations (NWN, Kotor), I'd say they are the one who care about progress in the CRPG genre, while other companies try to copy their games, or just make sequels to it.
  16. http://www.sega-europe.com/en/News_Story/242.htm Meh, I'm somewhat disappointed. I was hoping for a NOLF3, but maybe Condemned will turn out as something special under the FPS crowd too...(?)
  17. I'll just take the opportunity to submit my "Thank You!" in this thread, since it seems I'm one of the few dudes that really loved the game, and yes, was not disappointed with the end. For a KOTOR III I'd love to see Obsidian doing it again, but this time with much more development time!
  18. Try this one. However, don't expect wonders, since the game doesn't have official mod support.
  19. I'm not gay, but if I would be, I'd choose Mandalore, because he's so sensitive...
  20. Most modern games are not meant to run on a laptop, and your laptop is not an exception. Some games run on it, some not. Since I and many others can run the game without problems on a PC, your exaggerated warning "Don't buy this game!" has somehow become insignificant.
  21. Don't know. That comes of course down to personal taste, but I never felt KOTOR2 was "unfinished" or so. Maybe a bit unbalanced (combat), but from a roleplaying standpoint and the spiritual values of what makes Star Wars so great, KOTOR2's definitely the winner. The only thing that pissed me off in KOTOR2 was the choppy framerate on Dantoinne, but oh my, that's fixable.
