  1. Unbelievable, but there's a new (unofficially) patch by Troika that updates Bloodlines to v 1.4. Clicky!
  2. That's at least something. City 17 was put together in a very believable way, the whole infrastructure of the city felt very realistically and well thought-out... Unlike Doom3, where I always thought they just copy & pasted lovelessly a map junk one after another. That destroys immersion.
  3. Actually, it's always the craft of the artists that makes graphics impressive to me. The engine just determines the limits. Doom3 and Far Cry are bubble gum games compared to the realistically and at the same time artistically looking graphics of HL2. Good job Valve!
  4. Ohh well, don't forget, those are the people who said Freedom Force is an RPG, which, obviously, is not true. Nothing wrong with Irrational, they're one of the hottest game companies out there, though it's very unlikely for them to do BG3, because it's just not their style... That's one reason, another is that I WANT BIO to do BG3 damnit!!!
  5. You could try to extract the data with Winzip and then manually overwrite the appropriate files. If that doesn't work, look into the version.ini (I think it was called that) and change the lang = US or whatever there is. Then try to install the patch again.
  6. Dog is cool, Alyx is hot, Kleiner is amusing, but I'd bet my money on Lamarre, because the Brain suckers will take over the world on some day anyway.
  7. My thought too. I find the art direction better, and the pose of this orc looks awesome... But I don't like the Scavengers. They do remind me too much of my silly parrot. @Baley Click onto the link.
  8. Sounds interesting... I'll probably try it out when it gets released, since I've nothing decent to play now for quite a long time.
  9. Duh. Ha, good to know you're just kidding....hehe, just imagine Gothic 3 with the IE! LOL. (w00t) Ohh yeah, congratulation for getting of one of the suckiest games ever made twice!
  10. Did I somewhere say other factors like story and gameplay aren't important, huh? Stop being so single sided. Everything plays an important role, and todays CRPGs should have gorgeously graphics too, there's no excuse not having that anymore. Oh, and btw, TF sucks, both graphics and gameplay wise.
  11. Since when does graphics not play an important role? Besides, I loved the predecessors, and Gothic 3 won't be an exception, either.
  12. Those screenshots look awesome! Definitely a must-buy...
  13. Right now, this is not official. Valve have nothing said yet about their plans whether it's Steam only or not. It might be that the Steam Version comes out earlier and/or cheaper, but just to exclude a retail version would be a major loss, I don't think Valve is that stupid.
  14. I have it too and I love it! It's just a bit short though.
  15. Well, if you're good at drawing and like it, I presume you want to become an artist? First ask yourself what you want to become, search for your inner strenghts (though, when I was 14 I didn't know that yet) and then put much effort into it (duh). Try to learn more about anatomy, colour theory and begin with sketching, shading, later painting with colours and digital painting. There's a good book with the name "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" from Betty Edwards which helps you to understand how you see things rather than figuring out how they are... The more you understand in traditional art, the easier it will become to you to work with digital art, inclusive modeling and animation. As for Programming: Well, I guess C/C++ are the high-level languages you'll most probably need. When you get to Pointer and furthermore to Object-Orientated-Programming, things are getting funny (or not). If you think you can think very abstractly and like cursing nonstop at your monitor, this will be your future earn one's living. Whatever you want to do, just ask yourself what you think makes most fun and then go for this direction. But since you're just 14, this can change rapidly on a monthly base Anyway, whatever you want to become in the game industry, try to love and understand the medium, otherwise your game will end up like something only the Germans can produce! (now that was nasty....) (w00t) Edit: Oh, and I forgot the most important line!
  16. I think it was like this drawn, scanned and than painted in photoshop. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, read what Feargus has written. PS was only used for the touch-up.
  17. The OC was solid, SoU sucked, but HotU is actually excellent! Go get it!
  18. Good game, not more and not less. But I hope they'll improve the combat and balancing for Gothic III.
  19. Ok, since I'm clueless about that genre anyway, I'll just believe you.
  20. Sudeki is not a JRPG , it's a decent enough game though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uh, whatever... But what *is* Sudeki then when it is not a JRPG?
  21. You could try out Sudeki for PC, I think it was recently released and got some decent scores.
  22. Full price titles cost 49,90 Euros here, which is 64.68 USD. And for an US Import I've to pay ~60 Euros, which equals with 77.622 USD. So I really don't get it when people say "Hey, when the game costs more than 50 USD, I'll pirate it!". Tsk tsk. " The money was actually never the problem to me... I'm willing to pay a little more for a quality title if necessary, otherwise I wouldn't bother anyway. Ohh, and there's always Ebay too!
  23. So, basically, the Artists had only to be careful about how the art looks like and not how art works technically... now that's actually how I always thought it anyway. I just needed confirmation. Thanks Feargus.
  24. Interesting... So, this probably sounds like a stupid question now, but do you feel the overall effort in doing Art for the IE games was higher or lower than creating now a fully detailed 3D world a'la NWN2? I'm just thinking about the sheer amount of these detailed areas in IWD2, how was it possible to do good old 2D games with far less artists than creating now a fully detailed 3D world (which looks like gets more and more challenging for the artists as the time moves on) when Models/Texturing/animation etc. must be done in such high detail and quantity nonetheless?
