  1. Try this... Add disable vertex buffer objects=1" under graphics options in swkotor2.ini I get this happening to me with my nVidia 6600GT card and latest drivers, but turning off frame buffer effects seems to make it so I can at least move.
  2. Define stuck... Stuck as is can not move? Or stuck as in don't know what to do? If it's the first one, then join the club. I believe you can 'fix' it by changing a setting in the main swkotor.ini file.
  3. Thats assuming that Lucasarts has the money to make (or pay someone to make) the game in the first place. The lay offs would suggest they are running low on funds...
  4. From the end of the article... 'On the project front, an informed industry source said the team attached to the early stages of development on Knights of the Old Republic 3 was let go in yesterday's layoff.' Bit difficult to make a game without designers, developers, artists and QA people. Though a lot of publishers do try...
  5. So, we will see it by the time NWN 2 is released? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My guess is it'll be around the same time that KOTOR3 is half thru production. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So when K3 is released, then. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You think thay'll make it that far through development before release?? That's very optimistic... "
  6. Doesn't stop the 'professionals' from releasing things...
  7. A difficult question to be sure. KOTOR being the first will always have a special place, much like Baldur Gate has, but I have to say KOTOR II was a better storyline for me. Part I has the whole twist thing for it, which though quite obvious if you paid attention, was very good from a context point of view (look at how desperate the Jedi masters were to risk such a thing!) and was the first time I'd seen such a twist used (I'm sure someone can say it was used before though). Part II though had much more depth than the whole good vs. evil thing in that it made you think what Revan was really trying to do. Plus I could be a bad guy without feeling like a petty gangster. Really though I take the story as a whole with I and II together now. It will be interesting to see where part III will go...
  8. What style would I be? Single saber, blade down...
  9. But will we get the letter 'u' back I wonder...
  10. Funny Bioware did the same thing... Didn't help.
  11. I'll go with 'Fear is my ally...' from the poll. But I'd have to have a few more as well.... For when the PC insists on wondering around in only their underwear: ' I find you lack of pants disturbing '. In tribute to the Drunks with Sticks I'd like to end a conversion with a bad guy (i.e. the usual talk before the fight) with: ' Up jumped the boggie! ', and then of course launch into the right song... And an over dramatic scream of ' NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ' from someone when something bad happens (like LucasArts decides what KotOR2 really needs is Jar Jar type character ).
  12. Does this mean that us U.K. people are going to have to do without the letter 'U' again?
  13. I have to say it was the thing that put me off playing the DS version of the game was that 'school bully' attitude that it had. As people have said Bioware have never been that good at wrting evil...I hope Obsidian can do better. I'd personally like a bit more depth to the DS. I suppose the most obvious parallel in Star Wars, would be the rise of the Emperor in the prequels and how he manitpulated events to get there...maybe a bit too grand to start off with in this game, but by the end?
  14. 1. The prequels are a mixed bag really. The ideas they set forward are interesting but poorly excuted. My biggest 'beef' with them is the inconsistant acting and script writing. Its like there was two people doing the casting and writing. The best bits if you like were the lightsabre battles (and the Duel of Fates music...very nice) and some of the poltical stuff going on with the Emperor's rise to power (which is quite clever, but hidden by the pony actiing of the poor actors/actresses too much). I think the most annoying thing with the new films is the same thing I find annoying with many of todays games. So much potential that is destroyed by having the wrong people run things. They could have been good if they had put some effort into the casting and script and not so much into the latest l33t FX. 2. I like KotOR plot over the prequels, easily. Although KotOR is quite simple, it has a number of good things going for, not least that the people who wrote had some idea of what they were doing. The twist was well timed with a few good hints as to what it was and had a surprising depth to it (the Jedi Council must have been desperate to do what they did given what could happen). All in all I would say the KotOR had 'soul' where as the prequel films were lacking it... 3. Can the third prequel film save it? Depends. From what I've seen as a potential plot/story line it should be OK. However the problem with the first two films is the acting and the script not the story, and none of these have really changed. If the script is better (i.e. the dialogue is MUCH better than the stupidness of the first two) then it may stand a chance...and that is assuming you can get the best out of your actors/actresses with a good script. 4. Depends really. If you can get some good writers to do them possibly, but given the way things have gone leave it to the computer games (case in point look at the Star Trek series...they need new writers too! :D )
  15. If it comes out on the 9th/12th in the US, does that mean a possibility that is could come out in Europe before Christmas? Would be great if it did...
  16. I seem to remember that Fallout 2 had something like that...if you had a high doctor skill you could have quite a conversation with the doctor at Vault City. Had a few interesting things to do as well...nothing Earth shattering but a nice touch to the depth count.
  17. Oh it's not just me then :D There should be a little helping hand for the luckless people...I mean you looking at a man who once rolled 17 ones in row off a D20 on IWD. That run would have been longer except for the two on the 18th roll.
  18. Lets face it though people often aren't given the option to try less 'hack and slash' RPGs. Those that exist normally have terrible graphics, a nasty interface or rule set and are poorly advertised. All of these things don't sell very well. Maybe KOTOR2 can change that view by having some 'clever' options other than 'hack and slash' all the time...
  19. Depends on whether you are cursed like me or not... Oh another natural 20! Imagine my suprise. <_<
  20. How is this for an idea on the 'Treat Injury' and 'Cure/Heal' thing... Say that a Jedi's healing ability was determined by their 'Treat Injury' skill. I see this as saying just cause you know the Force you would still need to know how to fix an injury and thusly would need a good 'Treat Injury' skill. It would make it useful skill for a Jedi to learn (and the other non-Jedi may still need it to fix themselves up). You could match the powers with the Med packs, so Cure would do something like 10hp + Treat Injury (TI) skill and Heal 20hp + TI skill (plus maybe the cure poison affect as well). Of course these would have the added bonus of curing the whole party as well. If necessary you could the have a third version that matches the life support pack thingys. In effect this makes the Force Powers like re-usable med paks. On top of that I wouldn't mind seeing a Focus Feat for specific powers (not all of them, but some of them) that would say add a multiplier to the effect. So a Force Heal Focus would add on top of the normal heal a 1.5x multiplier. I see this as useful since it allows your Jedi to Focus on a specific set of powers (which as far as I am aware all Jedi tend to focus on specific things in the films and books). Balancing these additions/changes would hopefully be simple by changing the amount of Force Points that the power uses. How does that sound? P.S. If anyone has already mentioned this method then I'm sorry I didn't notice...this place it getting big and Searching is only so much help.
  21. How about not bying the piece of %&"
  22. My name is a shortname for 'Aspen Darkfire'... Sort of given to me by an old girlfriend and my days in the ATC. I was known as a bit of a sneaksman  in my youth so it was always 'You never knew I was there till I burned you', hence Darkfire. Aspen was from my ex...she said I was like a tree. Good to lean against... My avatar is of course the Symbol of Torment from Planescape:Torment. If I was going to have a tattoo, it would that.
  23. Here, here. If they destroy Thief 3...I'll....I'll....do something bad to them. Don't know what though... Suggestions?? (Help me out here! )
  24. I would like a detailed Cyberpunk RPG... Something with some real teeth. Nice and detailed and no falling into 'dumbing down' for consoles. If not that then KOTOR2 would be nice (if done well, and fixing all the original problems with the inventory). A FR settings would be OK too, but it would have to have a great plot and better 'evil' paths, maybe something like ToEE was going to be before it was boned...
  25. I would have to say Single Player only... Multiplayer is nice, but most RPGs don't lend themselves well to it, plot-wise and engine-wise. The main problem with adding it in for the sake of it, is that it always feels either poorly done (BG1/2) or destroys the single player side of things (NWN). Something has to be the primary focus, and that has to be Single Player...
