  1. Malc you have to admit its always better playing an RPG where you can explore the various Romance arcs? Nope he doesn't. Planescape: Torment Arcanum of Steampunk and Magik Obscura Vampire: Bloodlines To name a few. An engaging story does not need active romantic pursuits for the protagonist to engage in. Romance does not make writing engaging or good just by being present. Good writing is what makes writing good. Ideally, if the romantic arcs were well written and did not take away resources from other aspects of the game, then, if they weren't forced down people's throats, one could make an argument that it is always better to have more options. But it is not better to play a game with crap on the side just for having crap on the side over one that doesn't have that. After all, most of us here enjoy a good steak, none of us though would ask for the cow to crap next to the plate. (yeah I know, terrible analogy. Just pretend it was said by Al Pacino or someone else who can get away with saying anything in a movie.) I didn't explain my point properly. I'm not saying you have to have Romance to have an engaging RPG ( but I do think it enhances and makes party interaction more significant ) I am saying if an RPG offers optional Romance its better to partake of them than to ignore them Let's try another analogy... Would you in real life take part in "optional" romance with someone who is not attractive for you or would you rather ignore it?
  2. Funny how Sarex is the common link in both discussions, tells you something about his debating etiquette And I find funny how many people from another part of the world think, they know better about what's going on in Ukraine, because Fox News or some similar "news" said so...
  3. Are you aware that Netflix, Amazon, Hulu is not available to more than 6 billions of people living on this planet?
  4. OMG, I NED DAT GAIM NAU!!!111 No word about GoG version yet
  5. ShadySands You got there two of the best games ever released on Nintendo stuff. Bravely Default is what Final Fantasy was about before Squaresoft - Enix merger. Highly recommended. And Fire Emblem has been praised on this forums so many times that even without ever playing that game, I know it is pure JRPG love. Other stuff, hmm Dragon Quest IX, Final Fantasy III, Sonic RPG (last good Bioware game imo ) and some Zelda (there are few) could be some games you might like on this handheld. Other than that? If the game is made by Nintendo, there is big chance it might be very good game, most of the 3rd parties have no clue how to make good games for their systems. aaaand Ace Attorney is something some people love, but no clue if it is localized in english...
  6. Playing mostly business trips lately, and in between some Gran Turismo 5 and 6. Got 1000 cars trophy in GT5 today after 3 years O.o And after that I played little bit Tales of Symphonia HD on PS3. Only 17 hours in the game so far. And started to play on roll20.net Pathfinder game of Curse of the Crimson Throne with Gnome Barbarian, so far the game was fun but combat was boring due to lucky crits. First boss fight ended after firing up one arrow lol. And in the morning I think I will do little bit for preparing second book of Serpent's Skull Adventure Path for my friends, and maybe littl bit Gran Turismo again
  7. New Wolf3D looks like first FPS which I will be playing after Quake 4 and Doom 3. And man I am still drooling from the new Elite. I am waiting for such a game for ages...
  8. That's why I never get rid of my WinXP computer. Classics like UT99 just work as intended. Unfortunately I was never able to play UT3 due to the problem with the engine it used and my sound card. Even with the latest patch it did not worked without crash for more than 15 minutes
  9. I think both Hexen games from Raven could be pretty close to what you describe, with the difference, that they are not sci-fi. They both are last games in their genre as well.
  10. Just finished 9th playthrough of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 and finally got Platinum Trophy. After 152 hours Still need to get few weapon drops to have the game finished on 100%. Will play little bit again after few months
  11. By the time we discover this inclination in said AI, which, for the sake of simplicity, I will hence forth arbitrarily refer to as Skynet, it may already be too late to "pull the plug" so to speak. In fact, the very act of attempting to "pull the plug" on Skynet may produce repercussions. Oh yeah, I almost wish that an Omnipresent AI will take control over the mankind, just to see Terminators performing Teabagging on their victims
  12. That's why I have always used Norton Commander. Best application ever for having fun with DOS. Every problem was solved for me in matter of minutes
  13. Back to Project Cars. You can already drive a lot of different Zondas in Gran Turismo 5 and 6.
  14. I would say that not all the graphics was from in game engine... Most of it looked like pre-rendered cutscenes... At 1:27 and 1:33 was shown very short footage from inside the car, and it looked little bit less graphicky than the rest of the footage
  15. I heard only good stuff about new Wolfenstein. After long time FPS focused on Single Player mode. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/04/preview-confronting-nazi-horror-in-wolfenstein-the-new-order/
  16. Ok thank you, will take your advice, if you for some reason change your opinion let me know
  17. Thank you for bringing this game to my attention. I will definitely keep it on my watch. Unfortunately not so much time nowadays, so I am losing big time on news about upcoming games Can you tell me anything about Witch and the Hundred Knight? I read only some mixed reviews on it, and not many people on this boards discuss JRPGs
  18. Just finished another speed run of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2. All I need now, is one more playthrough for True Ending and I will get Platinum and I can get back to Demon's Souls and Star Ocean 4 So far 120 hours played and 8 times played through.
  19. It's the No DRM thing which is no deal for these games I bet.
  20. And got all Battle Trophies for Sarah in Star Ocean 4, now only Miurya and Edge to finish and then I can go to Faize BT run Only thing which puts me off of this grinding little bit, is that for Edge I need to perform more than 22,000 kills And it would be harder and more time consuming than my Arumat's killing spree. Soon it will be 3 and half years after I started the game and still like to play hour or two once in a while and grind in the game... Am I strange?
  21. Finished my speed run of Final Fantasy X HD Remix... Though I dunno if 40+ hours do count as a speed run I wanted just to get all Al Bhed Primers so I can enjoy my go for Platinum run in near future on Expert Grid with all the fluff... And speaking about emotions in games, first time I have seen the ending scene 7 years ago it made me drop a tear or two, and now even knowing how the game will end up, I was unable to hold the two tears again Meanwhile playing the hell out of Gran Turismo 6 seasonal challenges and little bit of Star Ocean 4 Battle Trophy grinding.
  22. Finished Lightning Returns... Hmm I think SE disappointed with this one... I actually liked to play the game most of the time, but problem was I finished all main quests and almost all side quests on day 7 or 8 and killing mobs to summon Last Ones was pretty boring... Dunno... I want to like this game, but I somehow cannot... Hopefully the new CEO will hold his word to make JRPGs for core audience and Wada's games for broader audience are finished... I just hope that EU will not get screwed over with Digital Only releases while NA gets physical and Collector's Edition like the case with Drakengard 3... Now started to play FFX trying to finish the main plot only... I do not remember a lot of the story from the day of release. The only problem is that somehow the controls are little bit laggy at PS3 version, almost impossible to dodge lightnings...
  23. When was the last time you could honestly say, that Facebook buying something, was good news?
  24. Looks like we will get new way how to play Farmville... http://www.gamespot.com/articles/facebook-buys-oculus-rift-company-in-a-massive-deal-worth-an-estimated-2-billion/1100-6418540/ I don't know if I should laugh or cry...
  25. I'll wait for an implementation of that, good talk though. Go play Lightning Returns... In that game you can find loads of different body types of women and men NPCs... Once again Japanese are few steps ahead of the rest of the world...
