And no one will give any damn about it, even if we will be able to defeat ISIS, just like genocide in Rwanda...

Well as some people previously said, judging average people by football fans is as ridiculous as judging average people by their politicians... well to be fair the football fans have sometimes more decency...

The media should be independent of the government. Not independent of its audience's interests. Of course every country's media prioritizes reports about events in their part of the world. Media must be in big part independent of it's audience interests as well, or it will turn to biased bull****. Like that video, which I have linked yesterday, one or two pages ago. It's very challenging to do it correctly, so most of the media rather does not do it at all. Or you want to hear from media only stuff, to which you, as audience completely agree?
-
And that is also another core of the problem... Media should be independent and at least try to cover more than just the west. But attitude of our media is: "ratings show, that no one cares about Africa, so **** that, let's show new breast implants (the T word is censored O.o) of some celebrity..." What happened in Bierut few days before Paris, was covered maybe by 30 seconds in local media, and then forgotten, like nothing happened...

Do you really not see a difference between Not taking initiative to publicly mourn something, as long as no-one is asking you to.and Actively showing disrespect and spite for other people's mourning, like booing(!) a minute of silence.? Let's just disingenuously group both of those under "not caring enough" and equivocate away? PS: Also, it makes perfect sense for FIFA to a have a minute of silence when a major terrorist attack happened right next to its own soccer game, and the terrorists in fact tried to target that game's audience and players - while not having a minute of silence for every other unrelated tragedy around the world. The core of the problem is, that no one asked anyone to mourn for Turkey, Russia, Lebanon, Kenya... Some people then might come to conclusion, that some lives are not as worthy as others...

Ok, after I got notice of this snippet from CNN, now I fully understand, why Qistina thinks about western journalism and west what she thinks... and I am no more wondering about some of her views... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzusSqcotDw "independent" journalism at its best. Now, allow me to throw up some...

Keith Ellison of Minnesota is a Muslim and a member of the House of Representatives. A city in Michigan recently elected a majority Muslim city council. One only and recently? my country having non-Muslims in parliament since 50 years ago... Well that's the "evolution" of thinking which is different in various countries. Slovakia has no muslims in parliament as well. Only 5000 muslims live here. But for example in Netherlands, the capital city of Amsterdam has muslim Mayor. Every country is different and looks differently on different cultures. I must admit, that from your talking, that Malaysia is much more tolerant for multiculturalism than Slovakia, but that does not make all of us living here intollerant scumbags who hate everyone else )
-
Thank you Qistina about answering my questions. Your answers are exactly the reason, why I wanted to hear it rather from native person than from foreigners. Foreigners often forget about the small details, which natives may care about a lot ) And this might bring the typical cultural misunderstandings, which I always try to avoid when travelling somewhere. I am not affraid of broken english. Actually I am pretty much used to it. I am not perfect either :-D and your personal english is on much higher level, than english of average slovak person :-P Just one maybe ridiculous question. Are men allowed to wear the typical european short versions of swim suits on beaches? )

Some westerners are good, there are many backpackers and tourists here, some even stay here as resident...some are bad and doing whatever they want as if they own the world. I myself meet many western tourist, i just don't mind them unless they ask me something...but most malaysians as i said are still looking at white people highly, they will be overjoyed if white people say "hello"...for most people here white peoples are gods and goddesses...so you don't have to worry. maybe you will want to watch such videos... Thank you, I will watch it later when i get back to my PC, but still I would rather prefer to hear about that from Malay woman, than from a blonde white girl :-P And more from the white resident perspective of people who are respecting your laws. Which cities you think are the best living places for people like that?
-
Ok, let's talk about something else Qistina. I am sometimes thinking of moving to some different country, because of my own reasons. Could you tell me little more about how are western foreigners living in your country? How are they incorporated into your daily life? Is it easy or hard for them to embrace your cultural and religious diversity? How are westerners which mive to Malaysia treated compared to tourists? And which places/towns in Malaysia you think would be best suited for living for people like me, who respect the foreign cultures and religions. I had few Malaysian friends in my WoW guild, but all of them were of Chinese origins, and one of my Malaysian colleagues, when I was in Singapore was of Indian origin. I have actually never spoken about it with Malay people, so it would be nice to hear about your country from you as well.
-
And we are happy to discuss about it with you, because we want to show you, that not every westerner is islamophobic idiot spewing bile about your religion.
-
I watched CNN, Fox News, Jon Stewart Daily Show and Stephen Colbert the same time...that's how i get the idea of what America really is... Ok, but believe me, Fox News is one of the worst things, which were created in the west in the modern history. I would recommend you to choose some other source instead of this one.
-
It's just few nutjobs who wants some attention in the TV, and they gave it to them. That's not me, that's not Sakai, that's not ShadySands, even that's not Volourn :-P We do not judge you because you are muslim, we all here are happy to talk with you, (well maybe not Voulourn, but he's not happy to talk to anyone :-P)

Qistina. That's what our politician wants other to do, our prime minister yesterday said, that all muslims should be monitored here without any police warrant, because the terrorists are muslims. BUT, very big but. He is an ****. Big ****. Half of my country is ashamed of him, the second half admires him, because they have never met a muslim person in their life. I am lucky, that I could travel around the world and meet many muslims/hindus/other christians and Malaysia is on my to visit list as well ). I am ashamed of him as well. Most of the westerners do not want to be associated with **** like him, and believe me, we know most of the muslims do not want to be associated with ISIS. Some people just want to see world polarized. So please do not hate me, and do not judge me, just because some of our politicians are idiots and ****. The politicians like our prime minister want you to hate us all, so they can continue to get more and more power through.

Well because something like that never happens in US... /sarcasm off https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_commonly_challenged_books_in_the_United_States http://www.ala.org/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks

Short version for stoned people: don't escalate a fight by conventional means against an enemy such as this. You can't fight evil with stupidity. 15 year on and all of the US' meddling in the ME has only served to destabilize the entire place and make it a playground for extremists such as ISIS. The US wanted to fight Al Qaeda but neither nation-building in Afghanistan (which is now failing utterly, as shown in the amount of Afghans migrating to Europe) nor the completely useless invasion of Iraq had anything to do with this, and both of these actions have served to increase the support for extremist Islamism, not the other way around. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend. The enemy of your friend is not necessarily your enemy, and so on.rR Ros you are a smart guy with a good perspective so I generally always read what you say...but I think you being a little harsh here I see things very differently and with a different lens... You can't blame the USA for the Arab Spring and much of the general bedlam in the ME is a result of the consequences of that The Gulf \Sunni states seem fine and so is Iran which is at least some stability Yes Iraq was a mistake But except for ISIS I don't think its that bad ? Like it or not, one of the reasons, why Europe is now obliterated by refugees from Africa is dead Kadaffi. He was a prime example of an despotic dictator, but he was the biggest buffer for Europe. Killing him, and letting the country in chaos was very very stupid move... Now we have two "legitimate" governments in Libya, and both of them are profiting from this business...
-
Well drowsy, do not think that he is better than anyone. He says everything just to be sure that he wins next year elections. It is all cold and calculated pre-election campaign. The first thing he has done after attacks in Paris, was to blame refugees. He is slowly helping to turn this beautiful country into clerical-fascist country which we were during WW2. We already have one fascist voted into the office taking care of one of the biggest and poorest counties/regions who is gaining more and more power because of our prime ministers rhetorics. What Merkel has done at the start of the crisis was foolish, but that does not change that our prime minister's intentions are as false as Louis Vitton's handbag on bazaar in Istanbul.

Okay dude I apologize, you are more than aware of this type of event I am sorry because I feel I know nothing about Slovakia yet I should. Do other EU members on this forum know about Slovakia? Slovakia is one of the less known EU countries in the world. If you or anyone else would like to know more about it, please search up about our cultural heritage and nature. You asked about the worst things in Slovakia and I have answered to you with honesty, but this country does not deserve to be mentioned only in that way.

We had a dozens of attacks of right wing extremists against gypsies and we had few months ago an right wing extremist attack against Saudi family walking on the street with their kid in pushchair (is this the right word for vehicle for small kids?) which were visiting graduation ceremony of their family member on University in Bratislava in last few years. They were attacking them with pavement stones. We had people openly celebrating death of 70 refugees found in truck car in Austria. We had even referendum, which promoted hatespeech against LGBT people. Thankfully our Highest Court have not allowed some of the questions, but still it happened and the TV advertisements promoting this referendum were disgusting. Our prime minister is at the moment actively promoting anti-islamic tension based on fearmongering. He openly said that we will allow help for only Christian refugees from Syria as a part of his pre-election advertisement. And of course some Slovaks are currently fighting in Ukraine on both sides of conflict. I know it's futile compared to what has happend in Beirut on Russian plane over Egypt or in Paris. But hate against anything "non-slovak" and "non-christian" is rising with alarming trending especially among the teenagers and in population under age of 30.
-
Closing mosques is a step against an religion, bringing imams which promote hatespeech to justice is step against criminal behaviour. If people can bring to justice right wing nuts which promote antisemitism, I do not see a reason why people can't bring to justice religious nuts which promote violence against christians.
-
Yes, if these Mosques are allowing Hate Speech then you need to close them down...harsh but fair Sorry, but closing mosques, which serves to all of muslims, instead of bringing to justice the radical imams, which are spreading the hatespeach is retarded and will bring more death upon French, because it will be used only for propaganda of ISIS and their likes. It will solve nothing.

Oh and we support the shift from oil to renewable energy! That's how much we hate you!

Surveillance in the Soviet Union was to suppress dissent. Surveillance in the US is to fight national security threats, a valid function of a democratic government. You're not free if you're being murdered by a terrorist, even if you yell whatever you want in the last moments of life. Don't conflate 2 completely different things. Well StB and I am sure that KGB said the bolded thing the whole time as well I am sorry to tell that, but I really do not know, if I should laugh or facepalm about your naivity. Infinite power corrupts infinitely, and mass surveillance of your own citizens is a pavement made out of sweet talks and fearmongering into the acquiring infinite power...
-
@ WoD You are advocating mass surveilance of your own citizens. We were experiencing that for 41 years. We know what we are talking about...

That's what US government was doing, wasn't it? And you're upset that Snowden exposed it. Please correct me if i missed something. What the US government was doing was looking for any pattern of communication between known terrorist groups, individuals and supporters of terrorism. They were not "spying on everybody" despite what Putin, Assange and the free Russian press might be telling you. Yes this is 100% correct, the real damage seems to be from Americans and people on these forums like KP who feel there government betrayed them Well even Europalament MPs thinks that Snowden did the right thing... http://arstechnica.co.uk/tech-policy/2015/10/european-parliament-votes-to-shield-snowden-from-extradition-to-us/
