  1. There were originally two threads about this game, one about the game itself and then this one that was made in the Deadfire forum. I don't know if the other thread was moved into this one or if whoever bumped this making it into the discussion thread, but there are very few people that have actually talked about the title in the past 20 pages.
  2. If they were just deleting the troll comments then no, but they're deleting things that are negative about the game regardless of tone. That is disingenuous since it presents a more positive picture of the game to people that are looking into it. If they locked the comments then it would make Blizzard look even worse, but it would completely silence the negative opinions about the game.
  3. They became Activision in 2007, this is not new. That's the reason "Blizzard" games have dropped in quality and seem to be more focused on mircotransactions than before.
  4. You do realize they've been the same company for a decade right? There's a reason the only good product they developed since 2008 happens to be the reason every other company wants to shove loot boxes down our throats.
  5. Its surprising to me that people believe Youtubers are more "credible" than game "journalists". The Youtubers are subject to the same faults as the journalists, if they don't provide favourable coverage then they don't get coverage at all, and even then they are still subject to heavy demonitization and censorship from Google and the Game company.
  6. Fighters in 3.5 were great early but tapered off when the casters gained access to higher level spells.
  7. Current rumors predict a PS5 announcement in 2020.
  8. Because they need something to keep people engaged until Oblivion in Space, and a low-effort FO4 repackage that tries to cash in on the multiplayer survival-building-crafting fad just hits the spot. I don't know. I'm skeptical about the survival/build/craft fad as well, but Fallout 4 had an insane amount of content, so I can hardly fault them for re-using assets. Why reinvent the wheel? Actually it is the reinventions that tend to bug me. SPECIAL didn't need to be reinvented, and they made a mess out of it. Well that's Bethesda's entire MO lately. Reuse everything but tweak something. If the game sells well, then that means everyone likes that tweak, so do it again in the next game!
  9. They already did that in FO3 and then reversed course in a ham fisted manner in 4. Why did Maxson turn into literally Hitler? Because reasons!
  10. Paradox has been trying to increase the type of games they publish for quite some time. I also know that they like to focus on small developers, but that was before the age of kickstarter. Within the last year, they purchased Hairbrained Schemes, the makers of the latest Shadowrun CRPGs and Battletech, which was published by Paradox. On a related note, they also own White Wolf, the creators of World of Darkness, and White Wolf is laregly independent. There is a CRPG being developed for WoD Werewolf that is being published by Focus Home Interactive and not Paradox. While the DLC policy for their self published games is on par with EA's handling of the Sims franchise, Paradox by and large is not EA.
  11. Spells can sneak attack too. The reason she prefers the cantrip is that her go-to build is an Arcane Trickster. She does most of her damage with Ray spells. Her Acid Splash targets Touch AC which is generally easier to hit than normal AC. This is important because as a caster her BAB is low.Hmm, the real reason she's in the party is to be my rogue. So, even specializing in ranged touch attacks, it just seems weird that with one level of wizard and five levels of rogue with some truly brutal missile sneak attacks, her best & most damaging potential comes from a cantrip sneak attack? I'll go over the numbers and see how often she attacks and hits with acid splash and how much damage over a period of time and then do the same for her missile attacks. At any rate, I appreciate the heads up, Manveru. If you right click an ability on the characters bar it will auto attack with that ability. If that's the case you will see a gold bar that moves in a clockwise manner around the ability.
  12. This. Where I work the regular work gets paid 11$ an hour while the managers and up get paid $25-$40 an hour and constantly work over 40 hours each week.
  13. Apparently Bethesda is changing the lore making the Brotherhood of Steel active way before the First Fallout and somehow known in West Virginia.
  14. I'm just hoping the Dodgers lose at this point.
  15. The Unity engine has a known problem of dropping in performance the more saves you have.
  16. Wasn't Cyric imprisoned and depowered for 1000 years by Lathander and Liiria as per Ao decree for killing Mystra and causing a Spellplague? Not to mention, his portfolio took an enormous hit due to the return of the Dead Three. So he's theoretically a non-issue now. But still, it is 5e we are talking about. And 5e is very 'pick-and-choose' about the canon. In 5e Forgotten Realms official canon and metastory at this point doesn't exist. It's all a mish-mash of diferrent information from both new and old sources - most of them contradictory. We literally don't know what gods are canonically active on Toril now, beacuse ALL of them are back - including the most obscure ones (Keptolo?). So I have no idea how one is going to pull off a "canon" story in BG 3. As I recall Cyric was imprisoned on his own plane for 100 years, but he remains a Major Diety of Chaos or some such. He is still allowed to grant his worshippers spells, but he is incapable of manifesting an avatar on Toril. I forget if Shar was ever punished, but she's the other candidate for **** god enemy.
  17. So if you play on Hard without min/maxing the game will be difficult, it's quite shocking. However, if you just set everything to 10 you should be fine. Quickly scanning over Treantmonk's Treatise of being a God [Wizard], he knows the way, for the tabletop, he rates Divination poorly. Recommended are Evocation (not for the blast spells), Transmutation (buffing and some debuffing), Necromancy (debuffing, ok damage, and minions), Illusion (its great), and finally Conjuration because it's the best. What does any of that mean for this game? Well, it's nice but it also relies on information not available in the game. Spells, feats, races, the list goes on. I'd say that Divination wouldn't be my first choice since the main Divination spells kind of rely on the game being tabletop. With the limited spell selection I'm not sure which of the other schools would be better. I also haven't started as a Wizard, so that also doesn't help. On a side note, Divine casters do have access to Boneshaker at second level, it's nice but not as table flip enducing as in the tabletop.
  18. >Insists that we use our imagination>Proceeds to try to reinvigorate a 160+ year story line neglecting key facts. Bhall's plan of resurrection was to use his children to come back, but he wanted the strongest to survive. Problem being they ended up killing each other this stopping his plans. Meanwhile Bane does the same thing and succeeds, because he actually came back prior to 5e. Bhall would have no children of a reasonable age to **** with, and would have no reason to. There's nothing imaginative about that. It's not like the Forgotten Realms dont have two Gods that have tried to **** over the world for petty reasons...
  19. Don't forget the Skyrim is the greatest RPG to be released, surpassing the **** stain that was BG2. Without BG2 you wouldn't have Pillars. So be thankful. Well that was larger than expected.
  20. I don't know why Microsoft would want to buy a company that makes PRGs... The sad part about not having editors actually edit.
  21. I'm usually called a meta-gamer which has always puzzled me. Just because we have estabilshed that the monster has x AC because we have had people miss at Y, hit at X, and hit at Y does not mean that I'm metagaming. It's even worse when the DM specifically decides to tell us said AC and Saves. I have played with someone like this before, and they were combining it with being an Overcompensator that was Neutral Good. This is generally me, whether I'm a player or a DM. Sadly, most people get pissed when I celebrate actually hitting something. Sure, I may have done minimum damage, but at least I actually hit... I have played in a game with two of these at once, one was mentioned earlier, and they other was a twelve year old Master Ninja girl. I'd expand on that, but I think it's a bit self explanatory. I was the only person in that group that thought it was a problem. This one is quite annoying. I have played in three different subsequent groups where we have had this player, and they weren't always eating at the time. It almost always happened in the heavy role playing scenes or in combat, so then we'd then spend the next 20-45 minutes explaining everything, which led to me popping open a book leading to me being accused of this... People.........
  22. 5e has Bhaal come back to life irrespective of his spawn surviving.
  23. 8/10 Str14/16 DeX (depending on race) 12/14 Con 8/10 Int 10 Wis 18 Cha (Possible as Aasimar) Magic Missile Mage Armor Magic missile would be your main damage for a level one spell. I dont recall which cantrip would be better, but until you get more casts you would need to cast those or more likely rely on your crossbow. Mage Armor can be cast once per rest usually, but may be unneeded. Past that I don't recall which spells any second level would be of use. I also dont recall the bloodlines offered in game, but generally avoid the ones that offer a melee buff like Draconic/Aberrant/Abyssal. Thanks for the reply. That's what I was looking for. But I'm watching this video and if you can turn into a giant dragon, I'm not so sure of what I want anymore... Edit: somebody posted this in the comments. I always go off what I remember from the tabletop, so its possible for a better build more tailored to the crpg. I believe that one of the final powers for the Draconic bloodline allowed for a spell like ability that used the second level of the dragon form spell, but again I don't recall off hand. In also not a fan of multi classing casters, full of half, simply because it misses out on spell progression. Edit: Also, hard and unfair difficulties mean exactly that. This, by the way, probably represents a fairly big cultural difference between North America and not North America. And there's no problem with that. This game was not created by North Americans. Being a European myself, I find the game's approach to "hard" and "unfair" perfectly rational. (I'm not playing on hard, much less unfair, but I appreciate the honesty in terms.) A possible analogy here can be drawn between this and strength and/or acrobatics training, which is a field I know something about. Some very famous teachers have commented how, when they're in Europe, they can tell students that actually they don't know a particular trick yet, or that they really need to practice it more before nailing it. At the same time they have told that if they say in the United States, especially, that a student's efforts are anything less than great, that student is going to need extensive therapy to get over it. They cannot handle difficulty. Note: I am not saying this. I haven't been teaching in North America. But this is something that teachers talk about. It all stems from the self esteem movement, which itself stems from a report that highly successful people have high self esteem, so some people got it in their heads to make it so that children ALWAYS have high self esteem. Which of course leads to people getting awards for everything...etc. It's too silly.
