  1. This is already going massively off topic so I'm going to expand once and then drop it after this. Eothas' goals have a timescale of eternity. The issues he's trying to resolve literally affect the foundations of how Eora work from a metaphysical/cultural/etc. standpoint. There is no way to make that kind of massive change without causing enormous harm to a vast amount of people in all sorts of ways. A better analog to his character would be Dr. Manhattan from the "Watchman" comics. It's not that he's a psychopath, it's more that at the scale he works at with the tools he has, there is no room for being humane in his actions. What are 200+ dead at Hasango compared to the infinity of lives chained in servitude to manufactured Gods without any say in the matter? And who actively oppress the truth and are willing to commit crimes on the level of wiping entire countries out and destroying entire continents to keep their tyranny in place? Compared to what Ondra or Woedica have done, Eothas barely registers. Another way to think of it is that surgery forces us to damage the body in order to reach the goal. And keep in mind that he didn't even have the intention of imposing his view. BoW revealed he was trying to show people the truth of how the world works. But the Gods wouldn't let him show that because it would show everyone what they really are. There is no conversation. If you speak the truth of how Eora works down to the bones you get wiped out. Remember that the Wheel does not have to exist and is a construct perpetuated by the Engwithians to ensure the longevity of the Gods they created. It's also worth noting Eothas' knew the Godshammer was there but chose to advance forward anyways knowing it would end everything. Think about the reasons why he decided to do so and what that says about his character compared to everyone else. Compared to the Principi or the RDC or really any of the other factions in the Deadfire, Eothas is probably the only one I consider doing the right thing. All of the other factions have plenty of choices as how to conduct themselves. The Principi don't have to be pillaging, murdering, rapacious "gentlemen of leisure" for personal pleasure. Neither do the RDC have to use a ****tail of colonization, forced cultural assimilation, and black ops tactics to attain their goals. Eothas is the only one who has little recourse in what he can do to free the world.
  2. Get the fishing event on the seas and get diseased fish. I think you have a shot of getting bloatbelly from there.
  3. You can always find bloatbelly eel in two locations: Gorecci Street - Bottom of the map behind the blue house in a crate/barrel. Second Floor of The Wild Mare - On a table.
  4. I don't know if they changed this in the base game at all but I did run into bosses in FS that were immune to flanked and interrupt. Also remember that perception resistance/immunity is a factor and that can throw a wrench in things (especially when it's not explicitly stated). There aren't really any consumables that have a high enough acc to hit on PoTD. I recommend using Helm of the White Void on anyone who is going to mass apply perception afflictions as the +10 Acc is significant. Global Accuracy bonuses from classes such as Assassin help a lot. Just something worth noting.
  5. Dawnstar's Blessing: +50% Healing done, +2 Religion -> let the Dawnstars in Port Maje bless you, can only be acquired once (source) IIRC Raven focuses on No Rest runs which is why it's a relevant buff.
  6. I don't think the ultimatum approach is desirable for all factions ("realism" is a bad target but that's a different discussion). To me one of Deadfire's issues is that there are design patterns that get overused and there isn't enough texture when it comes to certain things in the game. Mannerisms get expressed in text rather than also changing up the kind of choices the player is offered. But this is a discussion for another time. I probably wouldn't have minded as much if the different factions weren't jobbing out their really dirty work to me as a prerequisite for their support. I'm not getting compensated nearly enough to sacrifice my relationships/ethics with the other factions for that sort of thing (especially as I don't agree with any of the factions all that much). So I butchered anyone who tried to force my hand (or thought deserved it anyways like the Principi) and did things my way. I agree that another act would have been ideal as the true story is really the setting of Deadfire and the actions you take affecting the world.
  7. am thinking this were the intent and the point o' the faction choice. were no clear villains and unimpeachable heroes. obsidian wanted the faction choice to be a selection 'tween relative evils. HA! Good Fun! This has been the standard trope for all factions in PC RPGs for the better part of a decade or more. What I'd say is that while I might have been okay with one faction or another, I don't like ultimatums. Therefore I rejected all of them. The RDC especially when they tried to force me to be an assassin for them and then subsequently kill me when I refused. Redecorating Atsura's office was especially fun.
  8. I'd be curious to hear your reasoning on this as Cipher/Rogue is one of the better MC pairings in the game.
  9. The -35% damage penalty for dual weapon full attacks makes things close enough it's not really worth worrying about.
  10. Been playing on the latest patch with some Deltro's Cage Helm shenanigans and have seen 142% and 172% lashes generated using Great Maelstrom scrolls.
  11. Interestingly enough I've found that if you reject the Hazanui's request to assassinate the Queen, Maia doesn't leave if you subsequently butcher everyone in the Brass Citadel who goes hostile (which is practically everyone). May or may not have something to do with high romance levels with her.
  12. Crusted Swordfish offers +2 Pen with spells, but I don't know if Food buffs count as active or passive.
  13. The issue with Rogues is that Smoke Cloud is a PL5 ability and Pernicious Cloud (the way they would apply mass Distracted) doesn't arrive until PL7 (at least level 19 for a MC char) and also has a bit of a finicky targeting system where it can be turned into a massive PBAoE that has a large red FF circle. So unless you rely on mass engage it's harder than dropping a chill fog or one of the many ways Wizard can create perception afflictions quite early on.
  14. Hot Razor Skewers give +2 Pen with weapons and is my usual standby. Not sure if it counts as Passive or Active.
  15. I think Evoker is a mistake personally and would suggest a Wizard over Evoker. The scaling changes that were made in 3.0 really made mid and late game PotD a huge slog. Fights take much longer and having more control options when so much of the team is squishy would be a good idea. Only +2 PL to lose two spell schools to me is a mistake. You want the control offered by things like Essential Phantom which is one of the best summons in the game. Also means that this person can cast Combusting Wounds right after the Barb lands a modal strike with the Willbreaker. Combo with blunderbusses for a broken damage engine. The team in general seems a bit too focused on doing damage and doesn't have much investment in sustain or control. I would give some thought changing your druid to a Lifegiver and some other combo. Lifegiver still has potent DoTs that are highly efficient for damaging groups. Consider Cipher because charm is broken and since the Barbarian is Fort debuffing so Disintegration will land.
  16. Dump might and Dex, pump Resolve, Int, Per and leave Con at 10+? Without stacked Resolve can you get Def to the level you need to solo PoTD? Does Refreshing Defense stack with Wizard def buffs? How does Wiz avoid the acc/pen penalty for not attacking targets of allies, if solo? Or just ignore it? Is it really all worth it just to try to get Brilliant insp on yourself? Refreshing Defense is "All Defenses" and Mirrored Image for example is "Deflection" only. So they will add together. Llengrath's Safeguard however is an active and also gives a bonus to "All Defenses" and therefore the stronger of Refreshing or Llengrath's will be used. Wiz can't avoid it. Summons don't engage so you have to deal with a perma -1 Pen and -5 Accuracy. The Accuracy doesn't hurt nearly as much as the Pen. It can be overcome though. YMMV. Personally I think getting it to work in a group setting requires so much micro for such a marginal benefit in a team setting. From a solo perspective it will allow the combo to finish certain fights where otherwise they would run out of resources.
  17. Well there goes my idea for a Woedican Paladin with an predilection for autoerotic asphyxiation.
  18. From what testing I've done on them, Concelhaut's spells generally have pretty bad efficiency on heal rate. Unsure on draining missiles and if they're a 1:1 or if like draining touch it's a percentage (20% of damage). If the latter I would hardly call that a reliable source that would replenish more than you potentially end up losing. If you can rely on a secondary source of healing and want to stay caster focused, Helwalker is the superior option.
  19. LoH is one of the most efficient heals in the game. Unbending and Constant Recovery don't even come close. Also remember Paladin has a 3 per 3 second heal aura which costs zero resources. On top the the fact that Deep Faith also requires zero resources. I think Fighter is a solid class, but it's hard to beat Paladin if you just want to optimize your casts.
