A different view on the whole XP controversy
kgambit replied to archangel979's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The reward upon completion of the "cartographer's quest" might be a map that results in some previously hidden area being revealed on the world map with a hidden treasure to be found there, or perhaps a permanent boost to the appropriate stat or an equippable item that grants the same You could also do the same with discovering certain landmarks; a statue here, a ruin there, etc. It's kind of a nice idea - gives out some exploration xp - doesn't have to be a lot for each step - and then add a reward at the end. I also like the Monster Lore proposal from earlier. Small rewards for filling out a bestiary entry completely either xp and/or a combat bonus against that monster type with a larger bonus for compiling the whole bestiary. But I see it has some issues around promoting combat as a preferred play style. *sigh* -
why not? - you don't know **** about US laws as you've made painfully obvious in numerous threads not just this one Look up "revenge porn laws" which prohibit the distribution of nude photos without the consent of the model regardless of who took the photos: they are applicable in California and several other states. http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/state-revenge-porn-legislation.aspx

The last similar case involved the "stolen" pics of Scarlett Johansson's. Christopher Chaney was indicted on 26 counts under three sections of 18 USC. Specifically: 18 U.S.C. § 1028 Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act of 1998 18 U.S.C. § 1030 Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Computers 18 U.S.C. § 2511 Interception and Disclosure of Wire, Oral, or Electronic Communications Prohibited http://i.cdn.turner.com/dr/teg/tsg/release/sites/default/files/assets/hackerazzi.pdf This case could be a lot worse for the hacker since some of the pics of McKayla Merony were taken when she was underage - i.e.it becomes child pornography.

Loomis was pretty crafty. Released both kickers (probably with an understanding that they would resign one of them) to protect Griffin. Then waited three days for QB needy teams to fill their slots before waiving Griffin. And then resigned Ryan Griffin to the Saints practice squad. I don't think Bailey is going to be resigned. Angerer getting waived was a stunner. Anybody hear what the deal was with that?

And you'll know you're in hell when all the forum threads are about romance in rpgs.

It just seemed like he was in a mini-dry spell. Looks like it was short duration. PS: Faried and Davis are just freaking awesome.
-
Looks like it carried over to today's game - at least thru the 1st half + Before that he got his shot back though he was shooing 1 for 13 or something like that. Not even close so far US up by 28 against NZ. still in the third period

Not entirely Mayama. Grinding for xp? Probably useless. Grinding for items? Definitely worth it. In UnderSigil after the first visit, there was a 25% of a Greater Glabrezu spawning and they dropped items such as Bell's Shield, Ring Zero and the Aegis of Torment plus two others whose names escape me. Plus they were worth 70,000 xp @. Once you got above level 25 (?) it took 3 to 5 GG kills for another level. In truth the xp was far less of an issue than the items unless you were total crazy or totally obsessed (your choice) you were never going to hit the 127 level cap in PsT. The portable Modron dungeon required 50 to 80 kills for a level. Sheesh grind there if you want but imo boring! In fact all of the combat grinding was boring. And that doesn't mean I've jumped to the dark side on the kill-xp issue.

I would say the people have seen the backer beta and changed their minds. Or maybe they're just sick of voting in every new poll that asks the same question over and over when the issue was supposedly settled two years ago.

Don't let the score of that game fool you. The Turks kicked our butts in the first half. They were patient, ran their offense and pounded the boards outrebounding the US by a 2-1 margin in the first half. Their zone forced the US to take contested 3s (going 1 for 9 in the first half). Faried, Davis, Drummond and Irving are carrying the US right now. Curry can't buy a shot atm and with the exception of Irving our guard play has been mediocre (and that's being nice). I wish the US had added Lillard (and possibly Korver or Parsons) and dropped Plumlee (and possibly deRozan)

Really? Then what do you call this one?. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/61543-are-you-for-or-against-gaining-experience-points-only-for-completing-objectives/page-1

That's only co-op right, no single player? Either PvE or PvP if I read it right. What a shame.
-
And this one: Level 10 only requires 15000 XP to level up whereas the previous level required 20000 XP

and nothing else? That sucks. OUCH!

That looks a dump of a anti-feminist blog(s) Bester. I wonder which one it was. "All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman." Catherine [sic] MacKinnon Nope. She never said that. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/mackinnon.asp "All men are rapists and that's all they are" -- Marilyn French Author, "The Women's Room" The Women's Room is a work of fiction and the quoted statement isn't made by the author but by a fictional mother, Val in response to the rape of her daughter, Chris. (p. 433). In an interview with the New York Times in 1977, French stated, '"The Women's Room" is not about the women's movement'. "In a patriarchal society all heterosexual intercourse is rape because women, as a group, are not strong enough to give meaningful consent." Catherine MacKinnon in Professing Feminism: Cautionary Tales from the Strange World of Women's Studies, p. 129. Nope. Professing Feminism which actually criticizes the views of Catharine McKinnon and other feminists was written by Daphne Patai and Noretta Koertge. The alleged quote was misattributed to MacKinnon by conservative commentator Cal Thomas in The [baton Rouge] Advocate March 1, 1999 pg B8 and he was forced to issue a retraction which appeared in the same newspaper on March 27, 1999 pg B10. That fact is verified on page 191 of What Price Utopia?: Essays on Ideological Policing, Feminism, and Academic ... by none other than Daphne Patai. Do a goggle search on "Cal Thomas retraction MacKinnon" Those three obvious errors make me wonder how many of those quotes are accurate. Apparently I'm not the only one who has wondered that. Check out the following link: http://wehuntedthemammoth.com/2011/02/15/factchecking-a-list-of-hateful-quotes-from-feminists/

Sams cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Rams ended up keeping 9 DL including undrafted free agent Ethan Westbrook.

Amazon is getting into the act as well. Five new series - here's one Hand of God starring Ron Perlman and Dana Delany "A morally corrupt judge suffers a breakdown and believes that God is speaking directly to him, compelling him onto a path of vigilante justice." Right now you can watch the entire first episode for free (not sure how long that is going to hold) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MR9XOM8/ref=atv_feed_catalog?ref_=imdbref_tt_pv_vi_aiv_1&tag=imdbtag_tt_pv_vi_aiv-20 (and no, Diego Maradona does not make a cameo appearance .....) PS: Apologies if this has already been posted

I watched the first 3 episodes or so before giving up. It wasn't bad, just not really memorable. Thanks. Sounds like I either need to pass or wait for the price to drop some more.

Oops. That should have read "final say on Assange's extradition to both the US and Sweden"

Anyone watched The Musketeers Season 1 (BBC)? I haven't and wanted to get some feedback on what people thought.

Not entirely different. Actually at least one of the charges filed against Manning (and a similar charge filed against Snowden) could be used against Assange. PFC Manning was charged under the Uniform code of military Justice and tried in an Article 32 hearing. Here's the actual charge sheet: http://fas.org/irp/news/2010/07/manning070510.pdf Notice that in the charge sheet (VIOLATION OF THE UCMJ, ARTICLE 134) against Manning the UCMJ Charge 2 specification 1 refers to a violation of 18 USC 793(e). That's almost identical to one of the charges against Snowden who was charged under Title 18 USC 793 (d) - the only difference in those charges is that section (d) applies to people who were legally authorized to have possession of documents and section (e) applies to those people who were not authorized to have possession of them. The actual crime occurs when the person in possession of the documents "willfully communicates, delivers, transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not entitled to receive it [documents/information] http://www.politico.com/story/2013/06/edward-snowden-complaint-unsealed-93181.html http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/793 That section of the USC is actually encompassed in the Espionage Act of 1917. It's part of US Code and not just the UCMJ which overlaps with USC. So it's a fine distinction but if you read the pertinent section, 18USC793(e) is likely to be the basis for at least one charge against Assange as well as paragraphs a and c as well. The charge under 18 USC641 related to the theft or conveyance of government property (which were applied to both Manning and Snowden) might apply to Assange. There are a myriad of other legal issues beyond this. I wish someone could explain the extradition quagmire to me. I've read a number of articles that claim that the UK home office has final say on Assange's extradition to both the US and the UK. It's somehow related to EU law. And if I read the articles correctly, the situation changes if Assange is extradicted to Sweden and subsequently acquitted in a sexual assault trial. Wish I could find that link again.

Agreed or for interim disaster relief (where the units or similar ones have already been used such as the Phillipines). @Erez Even if you restrict the usage to simply drinking water (which runs against both Indian and UN guidelines) to reduce operating costs, the unit itself is still cost prohibitive for families. I found much less efficient units which produce for smaller quantities of water running 2400$ and up.
