Planescape Torment Quick Question
mr insomniac replied to SadExchange's topic in Computer and Console
Like the other IE games, Torment does look awesome with a higher resolution. -
Good news for Canadian hockey fans... the strike at the CBC appears to be over, as an agreement in principle seems to have been reached. Heard it on the radio on my way home from work. As one man said, "Time for Don Cherry to dust off his sports coats." Now all they gotta do is bring back Stumpy.

Congrats Ender and Mrs Ender(?). All the best.

As with the Fallouts, or the other IE games, opinions of Torment can be a little extreme. I have a fairly extreme opinion of PS:T myself, so I'll just say I hope you enjoy the game

^ As probably the only other Leafs fan on these boards, I say, "Patience Grasshopper." Lindros gets crunched? Big deal. Lindros wasn't concerned about the hit, and he wasn't hurt by it. Allison was back on the ice the next day. As we chuckle over the fact that Forsberg's surgery and missing training camp are likely a prelude of what is to come for Philly fans, I'd put Allison's minor hip agravation down to being a little rusty. And besides, it's training camp, not opening game of the playoffs.

Did Ultima IV have a specific villain, or antagonist if you prefer? Been a long while since my c-64 bit the dust, but IIRC, that game was all about becoming a paragon of virtue for all those Britannians to admire.
-
Hang on to the ability to suspend your disbelief for as long as you can.

Eric Clapton's Pilgrim album reminds me of Quake II, because I listened to it constantly while playing the game. Sometimes I still go back and play it, and I no longer have the Pilgrim CD. Any other music I play seems weird.

Questron, for the C-64. Took 100,000+ game days to complete.
-
Morrowind... for 20 minutes. Does that count? How about Lionheart for 30 minutes? No? Last game I completed was Icewind Dale, with expansions.

Can't agree yet that Belfour is declining in skills, etc. You have to take his age into account, of course, and there's no telling what having a year off will mean. On one hand, injuries will be healed and it can only have done a world of good to his bad back. On the other, reflexes and timing will take awhile to come back, and that's true for all players, I guess. Staying in shape during the lockout isn't the same as being in game shape, right? Right now, though, I am very much inclined to agree with Volourn. Toronto's team defence was worse than a sponge the last season they played, and Belfour is the only reason they did as well as they did. Hopefully he gets a little better support this year.

Rumour has it that Anson Carter was tradebait until the Kings found out that they could only get a used jockstrap and an expired subscription to Readers Digest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I believe Carter is a free agent, but restricted or unrestricted I dunno.
-
Read somewhere that the Leafs are pretty close to the cap, now that they've signed Lindros and a few others like Khamanov and Belak etc. Still, if they can land one more free agent, I'd rather they get Anson Carter than Leclair.
-
Tie Domi vs Bill Watters As for Lindrose to Toronto. Well it's been said, 1.5 million is a steal, and why not try it out? Now, what they need to do is get more defence.
-
Same was said when he and Selanne went to Colorado.
-
Kariya to Nashville? I'm a Leafs fan, but never really had any expectations of him signing with Toronto... But Nashville? Ah well... concussions and neck injuries are always tough to judge (they said Roberts would never play again after his), but if Allison can return to form he'll take some pressure off Sundin's line, whatever that will be.
-
Can't decide whether I'm sad that Nieuwendyk and Roberts signed with Florida.
-
Wonder how he found out he could do that.
-
Don't matter how hard Tyson punches if he can't land one.
-
Saw a video clip once, of Lee knocking someone off their feet with a punch from one inch away. He was standing stock still, and his arm barely moved. That's some power.

Bruce would kick butt, even when tyson was in his prime

What's Your Favorite Gaming Moment?
mr insomniac replied to Dark_Lord_Revan's topic in Computer and Console
The entire game of Planescape: Torment aside, my favourite gaming moment was in Myth:TFL, where the mission was to cross the River of Blood. Took my little band all the way around the edge of the map, (to go straight to the bridge was suicide) and realized there was a Troll on the other side, waiting to stomp us all flat, and he would have too. Hoping to at least wound the Troll a little, I sent one dwarf/knome to the midpoint and dropped all his bomb-packs in a pile. My plan was to lure the Troll across, and then ignite the bombs when he got close enough. I started throwing molotov ****tails at the Troll and other assorted bad guys, to begin my trap, but I couldn't throw them close enough. Some of the ****tails went out when they hit the ground, and just laid there. Instead of going with a plan B, as I didn't have one, I kept on throwing those ****tails, hoping some miracle would happen... and eventually it did. The last one I threw exploded as it should, but the blast tossed several other unexploded duds into the air, and well within range of the baddies. The miracle was that the blast also re-ignited the duds! (w00t) ... killed a full half of the bad guys and wounded the troll, as I'd hoped, and I still had my trap ready for him. The troll still had plenty of fight in him, and charged across the bridge. The dwarf ran back to the opposite side as fast as his stubby legs could carry him, and readied himself to throw the ****tail that would ignite the trap. When the Troll was a few steps away from the bomb-packs, I threw the ****tail... and the flame went out in mid-air! The few survivors of the mission lamented the little dwarf/knome who bravely gave his life so that the day might eventually be won, even as they cursed the Troll who sent his head flying past them with one mighty kick.
