Ok, Tax Refund = Upgrade.... to what...
If you motherboard is an older model then more than likely it is oneof the 180s. The 240's are fairly new design.

"I don't cheat as a GM."
Never had happen in any of my campaigns. Follow the rules of the game or the game is nothing.

"I don't cheat as a GM."
No, not necessarily. A TBB not only needs to physcial handle the PCs but also emotionally as well. One of my more memorable TBBs was someone they were comporative level to and met at first level. As they grew in power, so tdid she and she tore at them indirectly through family, friends, and associates. Never once attacking them directly was a source of frustration on the PCs for not only did she do this but was an active NPC in the PC party.

how short is too short?
Okay, well, enjoy your 10 minute CRPG that you paid $50 for.

"I don't cheat as a GM."
No they don't. All they need is the same level of equipment as the PCs. Keeping it balanced, if not better, as long as it fits within the rules of the game.

how short is too short?
Well, below 30 hours is too short for a CRPG.

"I don't cheat as a GM."
That is where scaling comes in, though it needs a lot of improvements.

Um, keep a look out for the RAM. That board uses 240 pin RAM and not the usual 180's. Your RAM might not be compatible with that Motherboard.

With the use of the d20 System my baddies have enough time to not only taunt the PCs but more than often take two to three of them down before falling or running away.

Every neophyte DM makes a mistake or three when they start out. I design my baddies much better since then. Also it is one of the reasons why I don't use the Rolemaster rules.

New preview for Dark Messiah
Generally bad. I prefer games to be like games that are their namesake. Such as if you are going to make a game that uses the Fallout name it bloody well be a proper Fallout game. Same with Baldur's Gate, Ultima, and even Might and Magic.

They were going against a human warrior/thief type, who wasn't wearing a helm, and one of the PCs was able to throw their dagger +2 right into his skull. Metal slicing into gray matter tends to kill a person instantly if you aren't careful. It would be cheating if I let the bugger live with such a critical strike. No one should be "invincible." As or the actual discussion, no. There should be a single set of rules and a single set of interpretation of those rules, regardless it being PnP or CRPG, in a given campaign. These rules should govern the game mechanics fairly and without bias.

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
Sorry Alanschu, I don't cheat as a game master or as a player.

New preview for Dark Messiah

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
YA, RLY!!!!!!

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
Oh yeah. 20 hours in a CRPG sucks.

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
And your point being what? Listen, yeah I hate metagaming but there are worse things in gaming than metagaming and that is cheating. Nothing is worse than cheating in a role playing game, PnP or Computer/Console. As a game master, if you have to cheat to make an encounter challenging then you have no right being a game master. THe same applies to game designers. Same rules for the PCs and the NPCs, plain and simple. In one campaign I set up this very elaborate encounter with a main bad guy. It was to be the crowning moment of the campaign, an epic battle that would be remembered for years... In the first round one of the PCs criticaled and killed the main baddie in one hit, battle over. Did I cheat and make the bugger immune to criticals? No. I let the dice fall where they may and that was that. Same rules apply to the PCs as does to the NPCs.

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
Yeah, I remember that bit now. Bad and asshat design right there as well. Obsidian needs to stop that sort of nonsense in their games.

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
The Sheriff for one.
-
NWN2 only 20 hours long?
But its not vital to the main quest. Getting past the werewolf is vital for the main quest.
-
NWN2 only 20 hours long?
A newbie vampire that has taken out vampires and other critters far more powerful than a werewolf. I hate when a game or a game master cheats more than metagaming.
-
NWN2 only 20 hours long?
Was rebuilding HK vital to the main quest? Nope.
-
NWN2 only 20 hours long?
Well, no one is going to convince me that the werewolf wasn't bad and asshot design from Troika or that a direct combat with a creature is a "puzzle" or some sort. It also severely deviated from canon material and basically made it that different rules apply to NPCs and PCs which is poor design work for a CRPG. It was badly done and executed, plain and simple. Lets hope Obsidian avoids such things in their games.

Ferret is a Biowarian!!
They have yet made a good game.

NWN2 only 20 hours long?
I was talking about other games.
