  1. I drank too much and tried figuring out supporting cast for this novel I've been stuck on. I discovered I can't tell the difference between Irish Whiskey and Tennessee Whiskey. The novel I'm working on has squat for real supporting cast, which I realized is probably the big problem I have with it. One guy running around doing stuff with nobody to bounce off of is just kind of dull. I mean, I have a partner character, but am holding off on bringing him in until a third of the way through and the client doesn't do anything. So there needs to be some roles fulfilled.
  2. Finished up LEGO Lord of the Rings. If you're not already familiar, it's pretty much the definition of a time waster. The LEGO games have a very childlike charm to them that I think even adults can appreciate, but it's not something you're going to feel fulfilled playing. Just amused and entertained.
  3. How can they not realize it already? It's on the Citadel. The Citadel blows up in two of three endings. Hard to have DLC after the game there.
  4. I beat Metal Gear Rising: Reveangence. Best new game I've played this year, but on reflection, I think it's the only 2013 release I've played so far. So... off to a good start? Anyway, the story needed another pass before finalizing. R-00 is irrelevant. R-01 is irrelevant. R-02 through R-04 are one plot. R-05 through R-07 are another plot. The connecting fabric being the same bad guys. But their four different plans seem unrelated. Now to decide what to do next. I started an MGS 2 HD run I should finish. I would also like to unlock some more stuff and do some upgrades, maybe try Very Hard on MGSRR. Or I could go back to Of Orcs and Men.
  5. Still playing Metal Gear Rising. R-05 and beyond seem rushed. Heck, R-05 is only 5 minutes long with no boss. R-06 is only a boss. R-07 is about 6 minutes long, then the final boss, so it's not too bad given the boss is a long one. Still rather like it, but the quality drop is significant.
  6. The Fox Blade (which seems like it might be a reskinned armor breaker) is overpowered in Metal Gear Rising. I see now why the Armor Breaker is probably among the last weapons people would normally get. I haven't even upgraded its special ability and it kills normal cyborgs outright.
  7. I hope it's better than Pinnacle Station, since a lot of the themes seem similar. "More Closure" sounds good, so cautiously optimistic here. Not sure where the hell it's going to fit in the timeline... No Legion romance, no buy.
  8. Metal Gear Rising A(@$#%@)#%_) Mastifs. I just dealt with some gliders around a hammer dude. The problem with gliders is they don't get targeted well, so they just pound with with missiles from off screen. In this particular encounter, when you do finally manage to deal with them, they start dropping Mastifs. Which, in an enclosed space and with two at once, is harder for me than the boss fights.
  9. Undergraduate Liberal Arts Education Oh man.
  10. Well, EA wasn't. The Crysis 2 DLC wasn't even available on Origin. It was exclusive to Gamespy. It was an EA partners game. EA was operating as the retail distributor. Same deal Valve does.
  11. Tale

    STEAM!

They tried to do it with PS3. Portal 2 is the game they actually have that with, you get a redemption code for Steam if you buy it on PS3 and you have to sync up your PSN account.
  12. Dragon Age: Origins is still on Steam because it was grandfathered, it got on Steam before Valve applied the policy. And it and Mass Effect 2 are probably two of the games that caused the policy to be established. Crysis 2's removal had nothing to do with EA. It's an EA partners game, Crytek is the one handling publishing on Steam and was the one arranging DLC policies. But yeah, there's some inconsistencies. I can't remember which, but I've had people point out some GFWL games with DLC only available through GFWL (Batman, maybe), that didn't get pulled.
  13. I forgot how tough Metal Gear Rex was. There's very little margin for error. Too close and you get lasered. Too far and you can't run from the missiles. Only a split second to actually fire. GAH! Still beat him. And the first room of Raiden's chapter of MGS2 is always a bit of a hassle too. It's far tighter than the similar area in MGS 1 and you're forced to start it over by them instead of off in safety.
  14. Metal Gear Solid This Master Miller chap sure is helpful.
  15. Finished Devil May Cry 4. I'll miss the series. I'm going to see if I can power through MGS 1, 2, and 4 before Tuesday's release of Rising.
  16. A Good Day to Die Hard. AKA Die Hard 5 Terrible movie. Probably the worst Die Hard yet. I say probably because my memories of 2 are long gone. I haven't seen it since the 90s. It was just a very mediocre action movie with a couple of good cinematographic moments. McClane doesn't really get the blue collar across, so instead is a generic action hero, same for the son, who doesn't even try to go for more down to earth.
  17. CM is surely one of those interesting stories about cancellations, deadlines, and starting over from scratch that we'll never get to hear.
  18. Why do I keep seeing that review? It's all the hallmarks of bad internet humor mashed together.
  19. Finished the main quest of Dragonborn. Also toyed around in various other sidequests in the expansion and base content. I'm sure there's more to do, but my backlog is enough that I'm calling it a stop for the time being. Main questline was interesting enough, but I can't give the actual plot credit. Hermaes Mora, a supporting character, is far more the stage villain than Miraak, the actual villain. Miraak enslaves a few people and sent people to kill the PC. Then stops doing anything of note the rest of the expansion. I pretty much forgot why I was supposed to kill him.
  20. Couldn't find this on this or the previous page.
  21. Drakkhen. Played it like crazy as a kid. I had no clue what was going on, though. I mostly just wandered around until I ran into something that killed me, then I would restart the game. First cRPG I understood and enjoyed was Baldur's Gate II. Had a friend who was into it at the time, but I refused to try it out because it looked like Diablo. And I hated Diablo. Eventually I did try it and found myself rather enamored.
  22. Sorry to hear low opinions of it. Borderlands 1 and 2 really made me like Gearbox, despite not being a fan before.
